The blizzard roared as if it were about to sweep across the entire world. The sobbing sound could make one collapse, and the heavens and earth changed colors; no creature dared to venture outside, not even wolves with exceptional endurance. Luo Zheng hid inside the hiding cave for rest, seeing that the cave hadn't collapsed, he finally relaxed. When his body temperature started to drop again, he stood up and continued to move his limbs to avoid freezing to death.
Without companions, without food, without warmth, without equipnt, without hope, having nothing at all, the only thing snatched was a pistol with just two bullets remaining. The fierce blizzard roared furiously as if to devour the entire world, and the piercingly cold air continuously robbed his body of warmth, leaving him gasping for air.
With harsh weather, a harsh environnt, and a harsh mood, Luo Zheng struggled to control his emotions on the brink of collapse, forcing himself to calm down, constantly reminding himself that he had to survive. As the long night crept by second by second, this slow process was unbearable. Luo Zheng wished the outside storm would stop imdiately and the sky would show bright sunshine.
No one could survive in such conditions, not even Luo Zheng. Several hours later, Luo Zheng felt his strength had drained away, unable to move anymore, the numbing cold swept through his brain, his thoughts began to freeze, wishing he could think of nothing and just lie down motionlessly, and then, the whole world quieted down.
"Am I going to die?" Luo Zheng grew anxious. He hadn't died at the hands of enemies but was about to freeze to death in this uninhabited snowy land, which he could hardly bear. If only he hadn't jumped from the plane, at least he could have died quickly without suffering this tornt. Gradually, an image of a figure appeared in Luo Zheng's mind; she was staring at him with a frost-covered face, her eyes filled with anxiety and anticipation, shouting sothing loudly.
"Why can't I hear?" Luo Zheng was filled with confusion. "Xue Er, is that you? Are you calling ? Can you speak louder, please? I cannot hear clearly. It's a pity to die now; I'm afraid I'll indeed let you down this ti. Don't be sad; it's just death, isn't it? We aren't afraid. If only I could live, we would find a serene place to live in seclusion, have a bunch of kids, and those days would definitely be blissful," he murmured.
"Alive, alive, I must stay alive," Luo Zheng muttered to himself, his thoughts gradually stirring. He suddenly jolted awake, feeling a whoosh of cold sweat on his back. Touching his face, it too was covered in cold sweat. Luo Zheng was terrified and quickly took off his clothes, only then realizing that the bullet-resistant vest was still on him.
Luo Zheng swiftly took off the thick bullet-resistant vest and dropped it on the ground, stripped himself completely naked, then used his outer clothing to wipe off the cold sweat on his body. While jumping around to warm up, his whole body tightened like a rock, murmuring about the cold biting into him, his teeth chattering, but he still endured desperately.
After a while, once the cold sweat had dried, Luo Zheng quickly dressed, waved his arms making boxing movents while jumping around. Several minutes later, Luo Zheng felt warmth gradually returning to his body. He quietly breathed a sigh of relief but did not stop, continuing to move until his body had fully recovered. Then he sat down on the bullet-resistant vest, took a long breath, and finally felt he had escaped death.
In several degrees below zero cold weather, not wiping off cold sweat ant a more than 90 percent chance of catching a cold, which wasn't far from death. In such severe blizzard conditions, no one could co in to rescue him, even if they knew his location.
Having walked back from the brink of death, Luo Zheng felt his body temperature rise faster than before, the sensation of his brain being frozen had disappeared, and he felt much better, startled but unable to figure out why. Taking it as a good sign, Luo Zheng quickly dismissed this feeling and stood up again to exercise and warm up.
A few minutes later, Luo Zheng felt his body warming up. Previously, it had taken twice as long to achieve this effect. Could it be that the blizzard had stopped and the temperature had risen? Luo Zheng heard the continuing roar of the blizzard outside and imdiately discarded the thought. He wondered if the recent brush with death had enhanced his physical condition. Could it be due to the family's "Breathing Skill"?
Luo Zheng checked his condition and found nothing amiss, yet he couldn't figure out why. He decided to put these thoughts aside and continued to exercise to stay warm. As the seconds ticked by and his body temperature rose, Luo Zheng sat on his police bullet-resistant vest to rest and recover his strength. Once his body temperature dropped again, he would stand up and exercise, repeating the cycle. Exhausted but determined to survive, Luo Zheng gritted his teeth and persevered.
Unnoticed, Luo Zheng felt the blizzard outside coming to a halt. Surprised, he donned his police bullet-resistant vest, crawled outside, and saw that it had indeed stopped and the day had brightened. Although the temperature was still extrely low, low enough to seem to solidify the air, Luo Zheng's mood improved greatly, having narrowly escaped disaster. Seeing the clear sky and the sun shining bright, Luo Zheng couldn't help but let out an excited cry.
"Ah—!" The joy of surviving swept through his mind. Although uncertain if he would be alive in the next second, at least he was alive now. After surviving the fierce blizzard night, Luo Zheng's desire to live intensified. His howl rolled like thunder, venting his frustrations and anger toward the Wolf King. His voice carried far, very far.
After his long cry, Luo Zheng felt his negative emotions swept away, and his mood greatly improved. Looking around, he saw nothing but a vast expanse of white, thick snow everywhere, with no sign of life. Luo Zheng looked at the sun, having no ti reference, no terrain, and no vegetation to guide him, he was unsure of the direction.
Walking in the snow without knowing the direction could be deadly, with a three-quarters chance of going astray. Once astray, the chances of survival diminished. Luo Zheng dared not run around randomly. He chose a relatively open spot to stand still and observe his shadow. He threw his gun towards it, and it landed at the shadow's peak.
After about ten minutes, the shadow had moved from its original spot. Luo Zheng checked his body, found he still had handcuffs left, and threw them toward his shadow's peak. He then walked over and drew a straight line between the handgun and the handcuffs with his foot. This line indicated the east-west direction, and the line perpendicular to it was the north-south direction.
Just this was not enough as either end could represent east, west, north, or south. After drawing the perpendicular line, Luo Zheng looked up at the sun. The line facing the sun was the south. Once the southern end was determined, the other directions were no longer a problem. This technique of using the sun to determine direction was taught by Lan Xue.
Thinking of Lan Xue made Luo Zheng's desire to live even stronger. It took him about ten minutes to be certain of the direction, a calculation in which he was very confident. He looked eastward with a firm gaze and took large steps forward, carrying the hope of life and the love of Lan Xue, moving further and further away.
About two hours later, Luo Zheng suddenly saw a wolf appear ahead of him. It was motionless, its eyes emitting a cold, chilling light, almost demonic, which startled him greatly.
