The cold wind howled, and snowflakes danced wildly in the sky, blanketing the earth in white. In this icy world where standing still for more than a minute could freeze soone to death, Luo Zheng stamped his feet and constantly twisted his body. However, his hands were as steady as iron, unmoving. He observed through the sniper scope, watching the approaching figures grow closer: tall, high-nosed, blue-eyed n, not of the Yellow Race, which at least ruled out the possibility of them being friendlies.
Seeing this, Luo Zheng calmly called out to Shan Hu, not far away, "They're not our own, quick, have the other brothers flank and encircle them, keep a distance of five hundred ters and try to form a sniper triangle. Let's surround this group before we act."
"Understood," Shan Hu replied. A triangular sniper formation was the most powerful encirclent tactic for snipers, trapping the prey with no blind spots. Ghost Team consisted entirely of snipers, and Luo Zheng's use of a triangular formation highlighted the importance he placed on this group, maximizing everyone's combat potential. Shan Hu's expression tightened as he asked, "Did you spot sothing suspicious?"
"Yes, these guys seem more formidable than the last group, nothing good can co from this," Luo Zheng replied gravely.
Shan Hu wasn't a sniper and didn't use a sniper rifle. He could only see silhouettes and not faces. Hearing what Luo Zheng said, he beca even more cautious. He glanced at the docunt case in his hand and solemnly said, "Brother, if it's not feasible, you take the docunts and withdraw first. With your speed, no one can catch up. We'll stay behind to cover you. The brothers might die in battle, but the mission must be completed. These docunts have to be taken back."
"Stop it, you need to reassign the task if we are to retreat, and besides, let's not be pessimistic. Our reinforcents will arrive soon. The terrain here is high, suitable for blocking. The enemy doesn't know we're all snipers. They'll make tactical errors. Fight well, and we may not lose," Luo Zheng said discontentedly.
Shan Hu thought for a mont and eventually decided not to say anything further. He tucked the docunt case in his back strap, aid his gun, and switched off the safety. His expression hardened as he aid like facing a formidable enemy, and once the unidentified ard forces got within approximately five hundred ters, he decisively opened fire.
As soon as the gun fired, the unidentified ard ones quickly dropped to the ground, each seeking cover. However, being at a higher elevation, the situation was clear to see. Luo Zheng watched the concealed enemies coldly, pondering how they had just annihilated an enemy on the hillside and now were blocked on that slope. The retribution was swift, but fortunately, it wasn't an encirclent yet.
The weather worsened, with the cold wind carrying snowflakes everywhere. It was miserably cold, as if the blood in one's veins was freezing. Luo Zheng slapped his head to clear the numbness in his thoughts. His icy gaze peered through the sniper scope at the lurking unidentified forces. After the warning shot, if the enemy retreated, Luo Zheng wouldn't mind letting them escape; otherwise, a battle was inevitable.
Luo Zheng glanced at his sniper rifle covered in a special fabric that provided so frost protection, then at his leather gloves, silently grateful for having ambushed that enemy sniper. Without this gear, he would've frozen to death without the enemy needing to fire a shot.
"Hiss, the unidentified ard forces have spread out, and it looks like they're advancing," Shan Hu whispered.
"Then let's fight. Notify the other brothers to find opportunities to shoot on their own. Rember, maintain a distance of over five hundred ters from the target to leverage the sniper's advantage. Fire in three-shot bursts, considering the wind speed, aim at the chest level on the right side of the target, and space each bullet by half a foot. Do not aim for the head, and absolutely no chasing," Luo Zheng instructed seriously.
"Understood." Shan Hu imdiately relayed Luo Zheng's words to everyone through the headset. There were two snipers on each side and another two in front, totaling six on his side. Long-range shooting was the best thod, but that ant he wouldn't have much to do. Shan Hu glanced at his Type 95 automatic assault rifle; it could shoot up to 500 ters, but the bullets drifted badly and the accuracy was severely limited.
"It looks like I can only provide suppressive fire," Shan Hu said solemnly as he pulled back the bolt of his rifle and shouted to Luo Zheng, "Once the shooting starts, I'll act as the fire support point and draw the enemy fire. You cover ."
"Understood, be careful," Luo Zheng responded, continuing to calmly lock onto a target in front. The enemy hid motionless in the snow, probably making a dispersal gesture out of habit, a signal typically given by commanding officers. Luo Zheng decided to capture the king first.
The unidentified ard group consisted of nine people, split into three groups. The left and right flanks enveloped while the remaining three stayed hidden in the center. Luo Zheng knew these three were responsible for covering fire. As soon as his side would start shooting, they would use precise shooting to suppress his side to protect the safety of those enveloping from both sides. He focused his gaze and shouted, "Shan Hu."
"Understood," Shan Hu also noticed sothing was wrong. Since the enemy intended to fight, it was better to strike first. His assault rifle suddenly opened fire, da-da-da, bullets densely swept towards the three people in front. Shan Hu wasn't sure if he could hit them, but it was good to intimidate them at least.
The suddenly exposed firepower drew the attention of the three. Luo Zheng keenly noticed one of them had locked onto Shan Hu's position. Perhaps due to the angle, he hadn't fired yet and started crawling aside, attempting to find a better shooting position. Luo Zheng coldly watched this target; the enemy was cunning, completely concealing his body within the thick snow layer, barely visible. If it weren't for the snow traces moving forward, one wouldn't know soone was there.
The thick snow layer provided the unidentified ard n with excellent cover. Crawling in the snow, it was hard to judge the position from a distance. Luo Zheng shifted his body slightly to maintain good condition and aid at his target again, decided to strike, since the enemy wouldn't co out from the snow layer, he would shoot him out.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" Luo Zheng fired. Bullet casings ejected from the chamber, striking the rocks and producing a crisp sound. Bullets lined up, whistling through the cold wind and snowflakes, carrying a fierce murderous aura as if to shred and lt this icy world, emitting a buzzing howl, and instantly penetrating the snow layer, then silence.
Luo Zheng didn't fire again but watched calmly. The unidentified ard n seed to suddenly vanish without a trace, as did the enveloping forces from both sides; the vast white landscape was suffocating, a barren icy wilderness with nothing but snowflakes dancing in the sky.
Shan Hu also stopped firing and observed quietly, whispering, "Brother, did you just lay them all down with one shot? Impressive."
"They're experts. They all hid after hearing the sniper rifle's sound. Be careful," Luo Zheng cautioned, his cold gaze continuously searching for targets through the sniper scope, worry etching his stern face.
