On the battlefield, team mbers signaled and gestured to each other, doubling their combat strength. The mbers of Ghost Team had utmost faith in Luo Zheng. If Luo Zheng said to stay, they would stay without a word of complaint. If Luo Zheng said to retreat, everyone would decisively pull back without wasting ti on pointless talk like "I'll cover the rear" or "You guys go first." Seeing that everyone understood, the pursuers accelerated their pace. Luo Zheng didn't dare linger any longer. After emptying the bullets in his sniper rifle, he turned and ran, reloading in the midst of his sprint.
The pursuers were cautious in their chase and not moving very fast. Everyone retreated decisively and bolted forward at full speed. Having run through the area where the ambush was set, they quickly reached the woods and concealed themselves behind large trees halfway up the hill. Luo Zheng, not seeing any encircling enemies, breathed a sigh of relief and swiftly surveyed the situation of the pursuing forces through his sniper scope.
Through the sniper scope, the pursuers were about to reach the three hundred ter line, not far from the ambush site. They were determined in their pursuit, picking up speed, completely unaware of the deadly ambush ahead of them. Luo Zheng watched this scene with a cold gaze and whispered, "Brothers, fire."
"Whizz, whizz, whizz!" The sniper rifle sounded again, felling several n to the ground. The gunfire did not scare the pursuers. On the contrary, it roused their ferocity and made them even more reckless, speeding up their chase and not paying attention to the ground, as they opened fire with all weapons, firing wildly.
Seeing that the sniper fire had attracted the pursuers' attention, Luo Zheng was overjoyed. Watching the howling enemies, he commanded through the earpiece, "Brothers, it's ti to get to work. Ten ters ahead, grenade attack. Let's start."
"Let's start!" Scholar and others lying in ambush in the snow howled, and their grenades whistled through the air. With Luo Zheng's guidance, all the grenades landed within ten ters ahead.
"Boom, boom, boom!" The twenty-odd grenades exploded with earth-shattering blasts, one after another, flas engulfing the surrounding ice, snow, and lives, as thick gun smoke spread and obscured the view.
"Dada, dada!" Everyone opened fire violently towards the enemy in front, who, thrown into disarray by the grenades, lost their morale and, compounded by the smoke that obscured their vision, beca unclear on the situation and started to retreat in fear, posing limited threat with their counterattack.
"Kill!" Scholar and the others charged forward, firing fiercely, shouting as they went. In a narrow encounter, the brave were victors. Already impatient, Scholar and his comrades surged with a desire to fight, courageously firing at the visible enemies, completely confounding them. The enemies couldn't tell how many ambushers there were and turned to flee.
This made the situation even worse for the enemy. On the battlefield, showing your back to the opponent was akin to courting death. Seeing the situation unfold as he had anticipated, Luo Zheng was overjoyed. He gave an order, and, leading the Snipers, joined the battle, shooting the resisting enemies with precision and increasing the victory.
The hundred or so enemies were already heavily hit by the sniper's initial attack. Now, after being bombarded with grenades and a sudden volley of gunfire, they lost most of their numbers. The remaining forty or fifty n were no match for Luo Zheng's group of thirty-sothing. With accurate shooting, more than half were quickly downed, with the remaining two dozen scattering in retreat. Luo Zheng swept them with a chilling murderous intent and without hesitation commanded, "Ghost Team, pursue to the left, other Snipers to the right, the rest clean up the battlefield, make it fast."
"Yes." Everyone responded thunderously to the command. Luo Zheng's tactical arrangent led them to complete victory, and their morale soared. Knowing that the enemy could catch up at any mont, they all sprang into action. Only one person resentfully watched Luo Zheng's retreating figure, eyes filled with hatred.
Luo Zheng looked around; enemy corpses and weapons were scattered all over. With these weapons, they had enough firepower for a defensive battle. Even if they t the enemy's attack, as long as they arranged their defenses rationally, it wasn't without the power to fight back—especially those five machine guns. He just didn't know if there was enough ammunition. With this thought, Luo Zheng rushed over to check and found three of the machine guns had been damaged by incendiary bombs. Only two were usable, which made him smile wryly.
"Brother, we fought well this ti, exhilarating," Shan Hu said cheerfully as he ca over, limping slightly since his leg wound hadn't fully healed.
Luo Zheng glanced at Shan Hu, who was holding an automatic rifle, and couldn't help but laugh, "Didn't I tell you to stay at the back? Got itchy hands, didn't you?"
"Sure did. You set the stage, and the brothers put on a good show; how could I not contribute? Thirty against over a hundred regular troops—it's been years since we had a fight on such a scale. Thrilling," Shan Hu said excitedly. The others busy cleaning up the battlefield let out friendly laughter, and their looks toward Luo Zheng were filled with more fervor and admiration.
In battle, it's all about outmaneuvering and counter-outmaneuvering the enemy, then taking advantage of your forces to catch them unprepared, attacking their weak points. Luo Zheng had demonstrated this in the battle that had just taken place. He had anticipated the enemy's flanking movents and set a trap, calculating everything ticulously so that, when one thing led to another, victory was achieved.
Until the fight was over, Luo Zheng would never think he had too much ammunition. Seeing that the snipers who were pursuing the enemy had returned, he ordered Scholar to have soone go back to the woods to retrieve all the grenades they had laid. Five minutes later, with no sign of an enemy encirclent around the forest, Luo Zheng turned and, without hesitation, led his troops westward.
Heading west only led them further away—a situation without choice. The north bordered Arctic Bear Country, heading there would be a death sentence, the east was blocked by the enemy, and the south might be sealed by enemy forces moving to encircle them. Continuing south or east was suicidal. Luo Zheng could only do the opposite, not minding retracing his steps from the west. With different equipnt and number advantages, Luo Zheng was confident he could lead everyone to survive.
On the retreat, Scholar, Farr, Monk, and Gardener gathered around, with Scholar voicing his concerns, "Ghost, we agree with heading west, but what is your plan after that? We can't just keep heading west, can we?"
"Of course not. After we head west for a while, there's a canyon. We can take cover there and rest and wait, hit them hard there and take out all the pursuers before retreating. If the enemy doesn't pursue, we head south in two hours. There's a canyon there too, and we can make our way back, even if it ans two extra days of travel," Luo Zheng explained calmly.
"Really?" As soon as they heard Luo Zheng's bold declaration to annihilate the enemy, everyone beca excited, so looking back and hardly able to wait for the pursuers to catch up. A disdainful voice said, "Don't overestimate yourself. Think you're a superhero? Don't get cocky just because you won a battle. Only if you lead everyone safely out and successfully complete the mission do you have the right to be proud. Otherwise, brace yourself for military court."
"Is the military court run by your family?" Shan Hu retorted discontentedly, with anger on his face.
"Don't get worked up; he's right," Luo Zheng quickly intervened, then turned to look back along the way they had co, his eyes full of worry.
