"Da-da-da!" Suddenly a stream of fire roared as a dense hail of bullets rained down fiercely in one direction, turning the bushes ahead into a complete ss. Screams erupted—the Minigun, with a rate of fire of 6,000 rounds per minute, was unstoppable. The battle had been at a deadlock until now when the Minigun's firepower was finally unleashed, clearly by design. Luo Zheng's face changed dramatically, and he observed carefully.
"Boom boom boom!" Countless hand grenades were thrown wildly on both sides in one direction, the Minigun's fire suppressing the front and clearing a path. Black smoke billowed from the explosions as nurous people charged downhill from the slope, like tigers descending a mountain, furiously firing their weapons and shooting at any visible targets.
"Are they retreating?" Luo Zheng was astonished by the scene, puzzled as to why the people on the slope didn't escape through the opening but instead actively fought their way out. Could it be an unyielding spirit, determined to make a retreat look spectacular? Luo Zheng was extrely surprised, his stern gaze turning fervent, infected by the combativeness of those retreating.
Soon, Luo Zheng realized he was wrong; these people rushed down the slope, quickly dispersed into the bushes, and continued firing. Those carrying the injured also hurried down. Luo Zheng suddenly noticed an all-terrain vehicle hidden in the bushes, which he hadn't seen before due to the foliage.
"No wonder." Luo Zheng imdiately understood as he saw everyone place the injured on the vehicle. The car quickly started, and everyone ran wildly in one direction. The Wolf King's n howled in pursuit, like starved wild wolves, overwhelming and incredibly fierce.
It didn't take long for Luo Zheng to notice a group of people charging towards his position. He instantly ca to his senses. The artillery had fallen silent; the Wolf King's n must be suspicious. The previous attack was too intense to notice, but now that the situation had changed, it made sense to send a team to check. His expression shifted slightly as he hurriedly said, "Not good, we need to retreat quickly."
Everyone saw the group of about fifty people running towards them. Without daring to linger, they all retreated. Barely 200 ters out, they heard countless gunshots behind them. Apparently, the fallen artillery had been discovered, and the enemy was conducting a fire reconnaissance. Not daring to show themselves, they bent low and continued moving forward swiftly, using the bushes for cover.
Luo Zheng stayed in the rear to cover their retreat, noticing that the enemy had spread out in pursuit with an unwavering determination. His expression turned grave. With nothing but bushes around and no defensible position against the nurically superior enemy, how could they fight this battle? Grinding his teeth, he urged everyone to increase the speed of their retreat.
After sprinting forward for more than 300 ters, Luo Zheng saw that so pursuers were being lifted on another's shoulders to observe from a higher vantage point. They shouted sothing and pointed in the direction of the retreat. Luo Zheng's face changed dramatically, and he quickly said in a low voice, "Everyone, stop! We've been spotted."
All stopped and gathered together, crouching on the ground, looking towards Luo Zheng with steely gazes full of the will to fight. Luo Zheng spoke softly, "We're being encircled by the pursuers. Retreating would an giving them our backs, which is extrely dangerous. Now, the pursuers are using pack tactics to attack us. The situation is severe. You know about the fight between wolves and tigers, don't you?"
"Get to the point. What should we do?" Lan Xue pressed, her eyes fixed on the rapidly approaching pursuers, her expression icy, her cold eyes brimming with a fighting spirit.
"When a tiger encounters a pack of wolves, it generally avoids them with respect," Luo Zheng continued, "When avoidance is impossible, the tiger will use the surrounding terrain to conceal itself, adopting flexible tactics to fight the wolves one by one, killing the Wild Wolves. Now, we can spread out in this bush, relying on our nimble bodies and speed to take out the pursuers one by one, engaging in silent battles without frontal confrontation."
"Makes sense, spread out," Lan Xue decisively said, with the enemy only a hundred ters away, there was no ti to delay.
"Yes." Everyone quickly scattered, disappearing into the shrubbery without a trace.
"Be careful," Luo Zheng glanced at Lan Xue, and after receiving her acknowledgnt, he drew his military knife and pistol and quickly dove into the bushes.
He hadn't gone far when Luo Zheng saw a person charging madly toward him, just a few ters away. He calmly crouched down and remained still; as the person approached, Luo Zheng suddenly stretched out his leg, tripping the individual, then pounced on him, covering his mouth, and his reverse-gripped military knife swiftly cut through the person's neck. A silent scream was attempted as air rushed into the windpipe, but no sound erged. Blood spurted wildly, and the person quickly lay still.
Luo Zheng pricked up his ears to discern the sounds around him while carefully scanning the vicinity, his gaze cold, his face stern, and his whole body tense as if he was a ready-to-pounce specter of death, exuding an aura of the Death God. Feeling two more people approaching, he slipped into the bushes and crawled forward.
Soon, Luo Zheng saw two individuals stop nearby, whispering to each other. Suddenly losing their target, the pursuers were montarily disoriented. Luo Zheng, like a python, slid forward, his cold gaze fixated on the targets ahead, ready to fight at any mont, thankful that the two n had noticed nothing.
Luo Zheng approached them soundlessly, pressed his hands to the ground, and using it as leverage, sprang forward attacking rapidly. His reverse-grip knife carved a dark, swift arc, slashing at one person's throat. Midair, a jet of blood sprayed out, and Luo Zheng's body twisted, his blade hand gaining force as it followed through toward the other person.
This person's face turned pale, staring blankly at his companion who gurgled and fell with blood everywhere. For a mont, he couldn't react, his body instinctively retreating, narrowly avoiding Luo Zheng's lethal strike. However, Luo Zheng's attack didn't stop. The reverse-grip knife traced a circle in the air, then brutally plunged into the man's chest. Just as he was about to scream, a large hand covered his mouth, stifling his cries as he was tackled into the bushes.
Seeing his opponent instinctively resist, eagerness for life persisting stubbornly, Luo Zheng twisted the knife, completely destroying the heart. The man's legs jerked, and he soon lay motionless. Luo Zheng rose slowly, glanced at his blood-stained clothes, then at the dead pursuer, whose eyes were filled with panic, reluctance, and the desire to live. Luo Zheng silently sighed and murmured, "Go now, in your next life, don't return to the battlefield."
Although there was no grudge between the enemies and allies, the battlefield was no place for reason; it was either kill or be killed, and no one was in control of their fate. Luo Zheng quickly adjusted his emotions, crouched down, and continued towards a direction – the hunt was still on. To stay alive, for his comrades, and for the mission, Luo Zheng was resolute.
