The hunt continued, with people continuously dragged into the bushes, disappearing without a trace. The pursuers imdiately fell into chaos, frantically firing into the surrounding bushes. Luo Zheng had just killed one of the pursuers, who had detected him. Startled by the bullets fired wildly in his direction, he quickly used the corpse as a shield. The bullets had strong penetration power at close range, but after passing through the corpse, the kinetic energy hitting Luo Zheng was much lower. Additionally, his specially-made Bullet-Resistant Vest shielded him, preventing a fatal injury, though it hurt severely.
After the barrage, seeing no movent, the pursuers continued their frenzied shooting towards other areas. Three of them charged forward, howling furiously as if shad into anger. Luo Zheng, also enraged, endured the pain and decisively fired his gun, "Pop, pop, pop!" Three bullets were fired at close range, instantly entering the foreheads of the three n, killing them instantly.
With these three n down, more attention was drawn. Luo Zheng quickly dashed forward, diving into the bushes, crawling swiftly forward like a giant python. This thod was less likely to create noise. Additionally, the rustling of the bushes in the wind made it difficult for the enemies to locate him.
"Ratatata!" The enemies fired wildly, howling chaotically.
It was then that Lan Xue, hidden nearby, also took action and decisively opened fire. A few bursts of gunfire, and the bullets' close-range impact was powerful. The entry wound was just a blood hole, but the exit blew off a large piece of the skull, killing the person instantly. The surrounding pursuers, terrified, threw themselves to the ground and hid.
After escaping, Luo Zheng, agitated, crawled toward these few people. They waited for a while, and seeing no movent, exchanged looks and slowly stood up, about to reconnoiter the area with gunfire, when suddenly one of them stooped over, spurting blood from his neck with a horrifying scream. A black shadow then burst forth, tiger-like, his hands morphing into a flurry of knife slashes. Instantly, three n had their throats sliced open.
The remaining few, their faces changing drastically, went to fire their guns. One had his neck locked, another tried to intervene only to see a black streak flash by like Death God's sinister smile. That person felt a sharp pain in his neck, his consciousness fading as he clutched at it, forgetting to fight back. How could he stop the gushing blood from the long gash? Blood sprayed wildly.
Another, terrified, turned and ran. A black bolt of lightning flew past, instantly hitting the back of this person's neck. With a snap, the neck of the person locked in by Black Shadow was broken, instantly lifeless. Black Shadow was Luo Zheng, his icy gaze flashing with a terrifying murderous aura. He quickly took a few steps, drew his military knife, the recent quick kill having drained much of his strength. Luo Zheng quickly dove back into the bushes, gasping heavily.
In a single breath, he had taken down six pursuers in no more than five seconds, each move ticulously calculated. This skill not only consud ntal but also physical energy. Luo Zheng slightly adjusted his breathing, felt smoother, and then moved to the side again, snakelike in his agility and ferocity, noiselessly approaching his prey.
"Pop, pop, pop!" Luo Zheng heard several gunshots, got startled, and saw three pursuers fall to the ground, eyes wide open in death. Knowing his brothers were acting, he relaxed, stopped, and continued to scan the surroundings. Seeing no one, he listened for a while. Besides the rustling of the wind through the bushes, there were no other sounds. Startled, Luo Zheng carefully stood up, noticing there were no people standing around.
Luo Zheng quickly crouched down, waited a bit longer, and still hearing no movent, he quietly asked through his earpiece, "Guys, are there no enemies left?"
"Seems like it." everyone replied in turn.
Luo Zheng dared not make any sudden moves and continued to wait a while longer, still no movent, the air thick with the stench of blood. Luo Zheng thought for a mont and whispered, "Quick, gather water bottles and food, and don't show your heads just in case."
"Understood." Everyone whispered back. Just because no one was standing didn't an no one was alive. If the pursuers had learned their lesson and were hiding in the bushes to take potshots, that would spell big trouble. Everyone hurried into action and within minutes had gathered quite a few water bottles and dry foods.
Luo Zheng also collected quite a bit when suddenly he felt uneasy. Cautiously peeking out, he saw a party of nearly a hundred people desperately rushing towards them in the distance. His face paled as he urgently said, "Quick, hide and retreat, aim for the nine o'clock direction, hurry, the enemy is catching up."
Upon hearing this, everyone carried their belongings and rapidly retreated westward, none daring to lift their heads for fear of being spotted. Luo Zheng fell back to cover the rear, occasionally peeking back, his gaze as determined and lethal as a hunting leopard, his expression as solemn as iron, occasionally flashing a tinge of worry but quickly steeling himself.
While being pursued was troubleso, Luo Zheng lacked neither courage nor fighting spirit. With no way to avoid confrontation, Luo Zheng didn't mind having a fierce battle with the enemy. It wasn't yet a desperate, critical mont, and Luo Zheng chose to avoid their edge. Everyone ran quite a distance, taking a breath of relief when they saw the pursuers searching around, clearly unaware of their direction of retreat.
Half an hour later, everyone erged from the bushes, a forest lay ahead, the trees not particularly imposing, branches budding green leaves, and the ground covered with grass, looking very pretty. No one moved, staying within the bushes to observe. Eventually, everyone looked to Luo Zheng. After observing for a while, then looking up at the sky, where the bright moon shone like daylight on the prairie, he whispered in a low voice, "Guys, does it look like there's a lake ahead?"
Everyone raised their sniper scopes to observe, indeed, there was a lake ahead with dense and tall reeds along the shore. Lan Xue whispered, "At night, such places are definitely very dangerous; there are crocodiles in the water, poisonous snakes and scorpios on the shore, and certainly carnivores in the outskirts. We don't need to invite more trouble."
"Yeah, Ghost brother, what do you think?" Ghost Hand asked. After the previous fight, Luo Zheng had proposed a silent tactic that successfully took out the pursuers, so everyone had a higher understanding of Luo Zheng's tactical ability and had grown accustod to consulting him when faced with problems.
Lan Xue keenly sensed this shift but didn't point it out, nor did she intend to stop it, instead smiling as she looked towards Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng thought for a mont and said, "The most dangerous places are often the safest. Mountain Eagle, you sit on Snow Leopard's shoulders to check on the pursuers behind us. Being a bit higher will give you a better view. Snow Leopard Brothers, you're tall enough, it's a bit of hard work, but if pursuers co, we might have to take refuge at the lake."
The pursuers had found their trail using this thod before. Luo Zheng was quick to adopt it. Snow Leopard agreed, lifting Mountain Eagle, who stared intently ahead then suddenly changed color, gesturing to Snow Leopard to lower him, his face ashen as he turned to Luo Zheng and said, "The pursuers are relentless, more than a hundred of them, what do we do?"
