Everyone was startled by Luo Zheng's fierce words, staring at him with shock on their faces. Glancing at the group, Luo Zheng explained, "The situation now is that Wolf King's n are hunting our team from the outside, coming at us fiercely. We can't beat them in a fight, and retreating is difficult, so there are only two paths: either we continue to hide as we previously agreed, waiting to erge until the fight dies down, or we sneak attack the Wolf King Headquarters and see if there's a chance."
"You make sense. Even the combined forces of several Sam Country teams can't defeat Wolf King's n; the five of us stand even less of a chance. The four snipers by the lakeside seem to have the upper hand for now, but it won't be long before they are in trouble. Not to ntion if an enemy sniper cos to help, once the pursuers spread out and get within range, they would be at a disadvantage and have no choice but to retreat. Constantly hiding isn't a solution; going straight for the headquarters to see if there's a chance is worth considering," Lan Xue said coldly and softly, her gaze towards the lakeside intensifying with concern.
Soon enough, everyone noticed that indeed the pursuers scattered and carefully started their advance, covering each other with alternating fire. Their progress wasn't slow and put trendous pressure on the people at the lakeside. Withdrawing was only a matter of ti, and one by one, everyone agreed to Luo Zheng's proposal.
Luo Zheng spread out the map to confirm their position and then headed towards the Wolf King Headquarters with determination, taking the lead. The others followed behind, vigilantly scanning their surroundings, not daring to be careless as they passed through the woods. Ahead, rolling hills appeared, not very large but, from a distance, looking like waves under the moonlight—a truly captivating sight.
The group continued their journey on the even terrain covered with green grass, which was clearly visible in the moonlight, making night vision goggles unnecessary. Moving smoothly, they heard gunfire after about an hour and stopped in surprise. They dropped to a kneeling ready position, and Luo Zheng peered into the distance—nothing but a blur—before whispering, "Let's go and have a look."
With their guns held at shoulder level, they advanced cautiously. After about fifteen minutes, they saw a group attacking the woods. The woods were small, with a few bare trees behind which flickering counterattack fire was sporadically visible. They stopped to observe for a while, and with a grave face, Luo Zheng said in a low voice, "It seems like Wolf King's n are pursuing and slaughtering another team."
"Shall we bypass them or lend a hand?" Lan Xue asked.
Luo Zheng fell into thought, and everyone patiently waited. As the attack intensified and the retaliatory fire in the woods weakened, they looked to Luo Zheng. His expression turned solemn and his eyes resolute as he said, "Let's lend a hand. If it's a team being killed, it's our disadvantage. If we can save them, we should help. With Sam Country, the Japanese, and Arctic Bear Country's teams facing pursuers, surely the one inside isn't one of those; they aren't enemies to us. There is a chance to join forces. In the current situation, saving others is saving ourselves."
Everyone nodded, understanding and waiting for Luo Zheng's command. Observing the terrain, he spoke softly, "The enemy has about fifty people. I'll take the left flank; Mountain Eagle, you take the right. Xue Er, stay here. The three of us will form a triangular sniping formation. Ghost Hand, Snow Leopard, circle around as fast as you can to join the team in the woods. Let them know we're not dead enemies, and we can start firing to save them. If they are our sworn enemies, then we retreat."
"Understood." Everyone nodded, realizing that if it were mortal enemies, lending a modest hand like during the artillery battle wasn't a big issue, but they certainly wouldn't go all out. Luo Zheng's arrangent was easy for everyone to accept, and they dispersed quickly. There was no ti to waste in saving lives.
Luo Zheng sprinted to the left and found a mound rising about two feet from the ground. He stopped imdiately, took up his entrenching tool, and started digging swiftly, covering the mound with soil to form a simple foxhole. Luo Zheng lay in the hole, resting his SVD sniper rifle on the mound, checking the ammunition to ensure there were no issues. Seeing that Ghost Hand had yet to signal, he watched the battle intently, pressing bullets into an empty magazine as a spare.
"Brother, it's Ba Country's team," a voice ca through the earpiece, it was Ghost Hand.
"Ba Country?" Luo Zheng was startled. Ba Country was a neighbor of Huaxia Country, with friendly relations and good diplomatic ties. Without hesitation, he said, "Kill!" Speaking, Luo Zheng quickly took aim. At night, through the optical sniper scope, he could only vaguely see the silhouettes of people in the distance, but it was enough.
"Whoosh!" Luo Zheng fired without hesitation. The bullet roared away, carrying with it his anger, tearing through the air and streaking a terrifying bright line under the moonlight before vanishing all too quickly.
A gentle breeze and an open field of view provided ideal sniping conditions. Luo Zheng was confident in his shooting. He aid at the target again and fired calmly, like a ghost in the night, emitting soul-hooking roars as he reaped life after life with cold, decisive efficiency, like a killing machine.
All the way down the road, being hunted by Wolf King's n had left them seething with rage. Letting go of the restriction to kill, Luo Zheng's shots were lethal. The muzzle flashes that sprayed forth were terrifyingly eerie in the dark night. Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle were also constantly firing, accurately taking down every visible target. In the open and flat terrain, the pursuers had nowhere to hide; the only option was to rush into the woods, seeking cover among the trees.
In the woods, the addition of Ghost Hand and Snow Leopard greatly boosted the spirits of Ba Country's people, who fought back desperately. The mighty have their own dignity; being rescued was a humiliating affair, and if they hesitated or pulled back now, they would lose all face. With precise single shots and grenades continuously thrown, they fiercely suppressed the pursuers, who could not advance an inch.
The slaughter continued. The pursuers frantically searched for cover but found nowhere suitable, so they had no choice but to lie prone on the ground, blindly firing their weapons in a panic. Luo Zheng calmly took down every visible target he saw. Noticing that the group began to organize a retreat, with the direction heading toward him, a cold smile ford on the corner of his mouth. He continued shooting after changing his magazine.
"Whoosh!" The sniper bullet roared out, striking and sending the person in the lead flying back, biting a large chunk from his chest and spraying blood wildly. The person hit the ground and didn't move, clearly lifeless.
"Whoosh!" Luo Zheng fired again. In the sniper scope, a splash of blood blood, the target's body went limp on the ground, his head blown apart. Luo Zheng remained calm and continued to take down targets. When the enemy rushed to within just two hundred ters of him, there were only around a dozen of them left.
Luo Zheng set aside the SVD sniper rifle and picked up the Type 95 assault rifle, switching it to burst mode. He resud hunting his targets without any hesitation. As for the spray of bullets coming his way, Luo Zheng paid them no mind. This kind of fight was a test of willpower—the more one panicked, the more likely they were to get hit.
