Luo Zheng wasn't a fool; he knew Ghost Hand's implication was for him to take Lan Xue ho to visit, so he cast a grateful look his way. Turning to Lan Xue and seeing no objection, he imdiately relaxed. Just as he was about to say sothing, Wu Miao, witnessing this scene, felt an inexplicable pang of sourness and said with so emotional loss of control, "No, within this week, you all must undergo my examination to avoid any lingering effects."
"Right, rest is rest, where you go is none of my business, but on one condition, you must have a thorough check-up to prevent any sequelae. That's also why I brought Military Doctor Wu here, and I hope you understand and cooperate," Captain Wu quickly said, smoothing things over. He glanced curiously at Wu Miao but said no more.
"It's okay, let's do it together," Snow Leopard proposed nonchalantly.
"Forget it, let's just stay in Beijing. We can talk about it once we've rested enough. You all have seven days of leave; you should deal with your own things," Lan Xue said coldly, her gaze on Wu Miao tinged with confusion.
Everyone else stopped talking. Soon, the van arrived at a large restaurant. Dressed in casual clothes, they went straight up to the restaurant and entered a private room that had been reserved in advance. After sitting down, Captain Wu said, "Order whatever you want, don't try to save any money, the organization will reimburse it."
"Tsk, I want a roast goose and a roast duck to start filling my stomach," Luo Zheng said.
"A bowl of bird's nest for to rinse my mouth. Skip the shark fin, in support of animal protection. Just keep all the kinds of seafood coming, whatever you have, bring out a round of it first," Ghost Hand shouted to the manager who ca to take the order, with the air of a spoiled rich kid.
"Bro, what's bird's nest? Is it better than bear's paw? I'm still going for a bear's paw," Mountain Eagle said seriously, with the look of a country bumpkin.
"Alright, cut it out, all of you," Captain Wu, seeing everybody getting carried away, quickly intervened to stem the tide, and said to the ordering manager, "Don't mind them. Bring out all your signature dishes, one of each, hot or cold, it doesn't matter. And get us ten bottles of 25-year-old Moutai. Don't bring fake stuff and embarrass yourself, I won't pay for that. Add a fruit plate too. The rest is up to you."
"Okay, please wait a mont," the manager replied and withdrew.
"Cheapskate," Luo Zheng turned his face away.
"Penny-pinch," Ghost Hand also turned aside.
"Miser," Mountain Eagle muttered, sipping his tea.
Lan Xue kept silent coldly, while Captain Wu couldn't hide his annoyance. However, the drinking buddy found it amusing and said with satisfaction, "You guys are learning to show off, huh? Not taking the captain seriously. Interesting, I like it."
"Captain, let's not give the gift we brought to Captain Wu," Ghost Hand suggested.
"Right, save it for Military Doctor Wu," Snow Leopard also feigned discontent to go along with it.
"I think so too," Mountain Eagle said.
"What gift?" Wu Miao, who saw Luo Zheng didn't position himself, was sowhat displeased, but couldn't resist asking curiously.
"Top quality, purely wild and natural Cistanche, big in size, priceless, sothing money can't buy," Lan Xue said coldly.
Upon hearing this, Captain Wu's eyes lit up, and he quickly ordered, "Waiter, add another ten bottles of Moutai."
The waiter looked at them with so confusion—Moutai was not cheap. Annoyed, Ghost Hand glared at the waiter, who hurried out to update the order. Captain Wu turned to everyone with an expectant face and said, "Is that settled now? Your sister-in-law, my wife, has been struggling with low immunity recently and needs a good supplent. I can't miss out on this."
"Add five more days off," Ghost Hand requested unflinchingly.
"Yes," Snow Leopard and the others chid in with tacit agreent.
"Alright, five days it is," Captain Wu declared generously, agreeing on the spot.
As soon as everyone heard this, they all broke into excited grins. Securing an additional five days off was no easy feat. The drinker, seeing that the agreent had been reached, said with a chuckle, "You guys trying to compete with the captain are still too green. Captain Wu said he would give you a month off, and now you've lost half."
"What?" Everyone looked at Captain Wu in surprise.
"Trying to outsmart ? You've still got a lot to learn," Captain Wu laughed proudly.
Luo Zheng's eyes flickered, and he said, "Ow, my stomach suddenly hurts a lot. You guys eat, I'm going to the hospital. Guys, who has so money to lend ? The hospital is a bottomless pit, no matter how much you fill, it's never enough—in urgent need here." With that, he held his stomach, stood up, and made as if he was about to leave.
"I have money, I'll take you," Ghost Hand quickly reacted, standing up to support Luo Zheng.
"Be careful, here let help you on this side, why so careless, hurry up," Snow Leopard imdiately rushed over to support Luo Zheng on the other side, urging him to leave.
"Quick, I'll open the door for you," Mountain Eagle also reacted, rushing over and opening the door.
"Everyone sit down for ," Captain Wu could clearly see the others playing tricks and couldn't help but laugh. The welco banquet wouldn't be much of a welco if the guests of honor left, would it? He also noticed sothing else: since returning from their mission, the team had unwittingly centered around Luo Zheng. Captain Wu glanced at Lan Xue, who was calmly drinking tea, as if the scene before her had nothing to do with her.
"Alright, stop acting, I'll give you a month off," Captain Wu conceded.
"Huh, my stomach doesn't hurt anymore," Luo Zheng perked up and said with a grin.
"It doesn't hurt anymore? Then sit down and let's eat," Ghost Hand said, laughing.
"It's so noisy outside, it's better to close the door," Mountain Eagle said with a chuckle.
"Really doesn't hurt anymore?" Snow Leopard asked seriously. "Good that it doesn't; it's a welco banquet after all. We need to eat our fill and replenish our nutrients."
Captain Wu smiled satisfyingly, seeing everyone working together so harmoniously. He hadn't expected Luo Zheng to integrate into the group so quickly. The battlefield could indeed change a person. He glanced at Military Doctor Wu, who nodded understandingly with a smile of appreciation in his eyes. Captain Wu said contentedly, "Eat all you like, best if you stuff yourselves to death."
"If we die of overeating, who's going to do your chores?" Luo Zheng laughed.
"Co on, put it here, open the bottle," the waiter arrived with the cold dishes, and Captain Wu quickly changed the subject. No longer teasing each other, everyone began to eat heartily, in great mirth.
After they were full and satisfied, Ghost Hand burped and said, "Young bro, a month's leave, huh? Stay in Beijing for a week to have so health checks. After a week, take us to your place for a visit. And tonight, don't stay in a hotel. Just co to my place; it's better to have so company."
"No way, how can you have checks at your house? You all stay in hotels like , ready to be called upon at any ti," Wu Miao set down his teacup and spoke promptly, realizing the surprised glances from everyone, he knew he had been sowhat unseemly, and lowered his head, staying silent.
Lan Xue looked at Wu Miao, then at Luo Zheng, her eyes filled with a aningful glance.
