The image zood in, becoming clear as crystal. Luo Zheng watched the screen and spoke into his headset, "North side of the office building, the fifth person on the left, there's a thumb-sized stone underfoot, two skinny pieces of dead grass in front of him, and a suspected triangular stone by his heel, probably a piece of red brick that's fallen off." Since the guards were all dressed in uniform and collectively facing forward, only their backs could be seen, so Luo Zheng had no choice but to locate his target this way.
"Understood, target locked, should I fire?" Mountain Eagle quickly found the target and asked, his tone calm.
"Kill!" Luo Zheng issued the order to attack without hesitation. An unplanned guard could only be an enemy in his mind. Facing an enemy, Luo Zheng never showed rcy. His intense killing intent erupted, his aura frightening, as the air around him seed to grow several degrees colder.
"Whoosh!" The sniper rifle sounded, and the bullet whistled away, drawing a sinister energy wave in the light, instantly hitting the target. The sniper bullet penetrated the target's skull under the force of the impact, stirring up the brain's nerve center and drilling out the front, lifting a large piece of the skull cap, with red and white matter splattering in a ghastly, glamorous, and horrific display under the lights.
All the guards dropped to the ground, searching the surroundings with pale faces as if facing a formidable enemy. Luo Zheng, watching this scene, breathed a sigh of relief. The unexpected discovery of the target and a single headshot was a pleasant surprise for him. He said to Zheng Duo, who glanced his way, "Calm the other guards. Have soone go up and check the identity of the target."
"Yes!" Zheng Duo, amazed by the sniper's skills, quickly answered and took care of it.
"There's one ninja left, what do you plan to do?" Lan Xing asked, curious.
"Keep an eye on the surrounding walls; we can't let him get away. One is dead, and the other will surely find out soon. If he cos, don't think about escaping." Luo Zheng responded, his voice teeming with bloodlust as he shouted into his headset, "Well done, Snow Leopard brothers, I need you to check out the explosion site. I suspect the other party will try to blend in with the police or firefighters to slip away. Be careful, these bastards are not simple. Notify imdiately if anything happens."
"Understood," Snow Leopard replied.
"How can you be sure that the target will go back? And how did you spot sothing off about that guy just now?" Lan Xing couldn't help but ask, driven by curiosity.
"Very determined, and very lucky. 'If you don't want anyone to know, don't do it at all.' So many people had their backs to the office building, searching for the enemy ahead, and this guy actually sneaked a look back. Quick and covert, but it was conspicuous in a row where everyone else was looking forward. I happened to see this monitor, bad luck for him. As for the other target, he ca in mixed with the firefighters. He fooled his colleagues, which ans he was disguised. It's not hard to make silicone masks. With his comrade dead, the best option is to pull out first. What would you do if you were him?" Luo Zheng spoke calmly, closely observing the surveillance screen.
"If a comrade is sniped and the mission exposed, there's no point in continuing with the unfinished task. If it were , I would definitely think I hadn't been exposed and would use my disguise to return and then retreat amidst the crowd," Lan Xing said, his eyes lighting up. He quickly realized and laughed, "Your analysis of human nature is so precise, impressive."
"It's nothing special; it's just common human behavior. Put yourself in their shoes, and you'll easily co to that conclusion," Luo Zheng replied calmly. He glanced at Zheng Duo, thought for a mont, then said, "Captain Zheng, if the other target returns, attacking could cause innocent casualties. Let's lure the snake out of its hole. Order the guards to spread out imdiately and turn off all the lights near the office building."
"Should we call in reinforcents?" Zheng Duo suggested.
"No need. We can't be sure if any of the guards have been switched out with an enemy. What if there's still an enemy among them? They can't get close to the office building; that's the principle. Turn off the lights, and the enemy will think there's an opportunity. I'll wait for him at the elevator entrance; it's best to get rid of the enemy all at once tonight," Luo Zheng said calmly.
"The mission is blown; the enemy may not co," Lan Xing reminded.
"No, I feel he's hiding nearby and will co. If it were , I'd choose to strike again," Luo Zheng said calmly. Seeing the puzzled looks on Zheng Duo and Lan Xing's faces, he patiently explained, "We've killed one culprit; shouldn't we normally be happy? Wouldn't we beco complacent in our joy?"
"If I were commanding, I definitely would," Zheng Duo honestly replied.
"Makes sense. If we didn't know about the other target, we would be very pleased. But doesn't turning off the lights expose our intentions, telling the killer we're waiting to cast the net?" Lan Xing keenly pointed out the uncertainty and quickly asked while curiously watching Luo Zheng.
"You're right, which is why I need your cooperation. Find a way to cut the power in the surroundings for a few minutes. Just three to five minutes will suffice," Luo Zheng said quietly.
"That's easy; the control switch is here in the surveillance room," Zheng Duo imdiately responded.
"He ant not just the Military Research Institute but also the surrounding area. Leave this little task to ; I'll give you five minutes," Lan Xing readily agreed, getting to work on the computer.
Luo Zheng knew Lan Xing's background; such a task was indeed not difficult for him. He glanced at the long knife beside him, grabbed it, and drew it partway out—the dark blade shimred nacingly, its edge emanating the breath of death. Placing the knife back in position, he checked his Type 92 pistol, chambered a round, and said, "Open the steel door."
The steel door, blast-proof, could only be opened from the inside. Zheng Duo imdiately got up to open it for Luo Zheng, then closed it behind him once he was out, to prevent anyone from rushing in to seize the surveillance room, which would be troubleso. Luo Zheng followed the corridor to the office building's lobby, glanced at the elevator on standby, and said, "Snow Leopard, any discoveries?"
"I've made contact with the relevant personnel, but there's nothing out of the ordinary," Snow Leopard answered gravely.
"Head back to the lobby of the office building right away; we're going to wait for our chance," Luo Zheng instructed. Before confirming the enemy's strength, Luo Zheng opted for caution, with Snow Leopard coming to assist—two against one; he was full of confidence.
After a short wait, Lan Xing sent a ssage that everything was ready. Knowing that the basent used its own power supply, independent of the grid, Luo Zheng didn't inform them; he just told Lan Xing to wait and then notified Zheng Duo to be wary, so the guards didn't accidentally shoot each other.
Zheng Duo promised and instructed the guards before setting off. Snow Leopard soon arrived with a puzzled look, glancing at Luo Zheng, who didn't imdiately reply but instead asked Lan Xing to cut the power. The darkness engulfed everything, making it impossible to see even one's own hand.
