"Die!" the man roared hysterically, gripping Luo Zheng's arm like a vise.

Luo Zheng realized that the other man intended for them to die together, his face turning cold as he struggled desperately but found he could hardly move. At the critical mont, he stepped on the railing, steadied his body, and was about to use his knife to kill the other and free himself when he suddenly felt the pulling force increase, and his body uncontrollably lunged forward.

"How terrifying this pulling is," Luo Zheng said, his face filled with horror. The potential that this man exhibited on the brink of death was frightening. Luo Zheng felt his center of gravity shift forward, thinking it was bad, but it was already too late. His whole body was pulled over the railing and began falling downwards.

"Damn it," Luo Zheng exclaid in horror as the man indeed intended to drag him down together. The whistling of the wind by his ears and the rapid speed of the descent confird it. From such a great height, the fall would undoubtedly be fatal. In this life-or-death mont, fury surged within Luo Zheng, and he slashed at the other, resolved to kill him even in death.

"Die." His black knife swept through, the sharp blade easily severing the other's arm. Luo Zheng knew his end was near, yet he didn't panic; instead, he entered a clear state of mind, observing his surroundings with an eerie calmness. Seeing a solid wall ahead, an idea struck him, and he thrust his knife towards it.

"Stab!" The knife effortlessly embedded into the wall, carving a long mark. Luo Zheng knew this was his only chance at survival, clinging onto the knife, twisting his body, and pushing against the wall to drive the knife deeper. The blade kept slicing through the wall, dust flying around, reducing Luo Zheng's falling montum.

Soon, Luo Zheng felt the speed of his descent dramatically decrease, he breathed a sigh of relief, looked up, and saw the knife almost fully embedded in the wall, stopping him mid-air. Clutching the knife handle, without panicking, he breathed a long sigh and, grateful beyond words, said fearfully, "Knife, oh knife, you've saved my life. From now on, we're brothers in life and death."

The knife seed to hum in response, as if acknowledging Luo Zheng's words. Hearing Shi Feng calling anxiously below, Luo Zheng looked down. He was only about a dozen ters from the ground, twisted his body, kicked off the wall, and removed the knife as he jumped downward. He landed with a roll and got up.

"Are you okay?" Shi Feng rushed over, looking at Luo Zheng with admiration. Surviving such a fall was incredible—it was a true miracle.

"I'm okay," Luo Zheng, relieved entirely, looked at the knife in his hand and then at the dead opponent not far away, feeling secretly thrilled.

"Lucky to have this knife—it's so sharp," Shi Feng remarked.

"Let's not talk about this now. I don't want word of this incident spread. Arrange a car to take back," said Luo Zheng wearily, his heart still pounding violently from the near-fatal experience. He raised his head, glanced at the building over a hundred ters tall, and could hardly believe he had survived.

Soon, Shi Feng drove up, and Luo Zheng sat in the back, closing his eyes to rest and using the family's Breathing Skill to recover his strength and calm his racing heart. After a while, feeling his tense muscles relax and his heartbeat return to normal, he sighed deeply and saw that they had arrived at the Military Research Institute.

Luo Zheng got out of the car at the entrance, walked into the monitoring room, saw Lan Xue's concerned gaze, and smiled casually, saying, "It's all taken care of, don't worry."

Lan Xue didn't yet know about Luo Zheng falling from a building more than a hundred ters high, so seeing Luo Zheng return unhard was a relief. She handed him a bottle of mineral water, watching as he guzzled it down in one breath, she felt that sothing was amiss, but since Luo Zheng didn't speak up, it wasn't appropriate for Lan Xue to press further.

After catching his breath, Luo Zheng found a chair to sit on and said, "I'll keep watch here. How is your recovery? Do you need to go to the hospital for a dressing change?"

"It's a minor injury. I'll continue to stay in the basent. There won't be a problem as long as I avoid close combat. Mountain Eagle's wound is also healing well. He can handle sniping, so let's keep him on the roof. I'm leaving, imdiately notify us if anything happens," Lan Xue agreed, walking to the door before suddenly stopping to add, "By the way, Elder Lin said it will take three more days. These next three days are crucial. Think about how to arrange the defenses. Should we change the deploynt?"

"I think that's a good idea. Our current deploynt must have been thoroughly scouted by the enemy. Do you have any good suggestions?" Luo Zheng asked, as Zheng Duo wasn't there, they felt free to discuss confidential matters openly.

"Starting from tomorrow, resu normal guard duty and announce externally that our research findings are complete. The day after tomorrow morning, hold a press conference. All extra guards will stay hidden in the office building and be on standby. Tomorrow is the weekend, no work, the office building is closed, it's hard to notice the guards hidden there. What do you think?" said Lan Xue, offering her plan.

Luo Zheng looked outside; it was already deep into the night. He agreed and said, "Not tomorrow, everyone will enter the office building tonight and be on standby. Let's discuss and decide on a deploynt plan. We'll resu normal guard duty at dawn tomorrow and announce it externally. In that way, the enemy might think we've completed our research. If anyone carelessly climbs up here, we'll be sitting ducks ready to catch them all in one net."

"Tonight?" Lan Xue pondered for a mont and felt tonight was also a good choice. They could use the cover of darkness to inconspicuously gather in the office building, making it hard to be detected, and agreed, saying, "Alright, all security personnel will take up posts on the third floor and above in the hallways and by the windows. Their vehicles will leave early tomorrow morning, creating an illusion of retreat."

There were two advantages to laying ambush on the third floor and above. One, a higher position offers a broader view, and two, it counteracts the potential of having traitors among the guards, as the elevator entering the basent is in the lobby on the first floor. Anyone coming down from the third floor is suspicious. With three floors as a buffer, it's entirely safe.

Understanding Luo Zheng nodded and saw Zheng Duo co in. He shared the revised defense plan and requirents once again. Zheng Duo readily agreed to arrange it—how exactly to position the guards on and above the third floor was Zheng Duo's responsibility, Luo Zheng preferred not to inquire further, and Lan Xue also returned to the basent.

Lan Xing curiously asked, "Hey, there's a blast-resistant door when you enter the basent. Ordinary bombs can't do anything to it. The passageway is also blast-proof, and they're equipped with laser beams. Once the laser beams are activated, any person would be directly shredded into pieces of at, and bullet-resistant vests would be useless. With such ferocious defense, there's completely no need to worry, right? Yet, you all seem so tense."

"It's true that there's no need to worry, but that only holds if the system isn't hacked. Once it's breached, all those defenses are virtually useless. I have confidence in your computing skills, but what if it fails? Moreover, we are military personnel. We're not used to passive defense. It is better to attack while defending and kill any incoming assassins, don't you think?" Luo Zheng explained.

"The incoming enemy doesn't seem that simple. We are still surrounded by crises," Lan Xing said worriedly.

Luo Zheng's expression also grew solemn. The enemies they were facing were far from simple.
