The individuals who entered this ti weren't nurous, just about thirty or so, but they were quite special. Surprisingly, the leader carried an AK47 assault rifle. Luo Zheng's expression changed, and he sized up the other party carefully. A very ordinary face, not tall in stature, yet from his lean body emitted an aura of iron and blood, reminiscent of a warrior who had seen battlefields.
"Eh?" Lan Xue and the others also stood up, casually reaching for the handguns strapped to their thighs without drawing attention, their expressions turning solemn. Luo Zheng saw the middle-aged man go to et them, looking very delighted, and after babbling on with the man with the gun, he pulled this person over to Luo Zheng.
This person, like the others, first gave Luo Zheng a respectful salute, then suddenly asked, "Huaxia? Korea? Or...?" The language used was a barely fluent international lingua franca, but understandable.
Luo Zheng was overjoyed. At last, there was soone he could communicate with; he had almost been stifling to death. He examined the person from head to toe, took a deep breath to stay calm, and then said, "Huaxia."
"Thank you for saving my tribe. My na is Hook, this is my father, Old Hook, and this is Xiong Bi, Bao Li, Lang Sen, and the Wizard," the man introduced enthusiastically to Luo Zheng.
It was only then that Luo Zheng found out that the middle-aged man was called Old Hook, this man's father, and the elder was the Wizard. The bald muscular man was Bao Li, and the other two people were also identified. So, he said, "Nice to et you, I'm Ghost." The na was a national secret, and the military had regulations about not disclosing it carelessly.
"Ghost?" The man nad Hook looked at Luo Zheng with a shocked expression. Seeing Luo Zheng didn't seem to be lying, he suddenly beca excited and started to talk to a few individuals who looked like leaders, speaking very quickly and with great excitent, which surprised Luo Zheng. It's just a na, what's there to be so excited about?
Soon, Luo Zheng realized sothing was amiss. Everyone was prostrating on the ground, performing a kowtow ritual with extrely respectful expressions, muttering sothing he couldn't understand. Luo Zheng was shocked and hurriedly helped Hook up, asking, "What's this about?"
Hook didn't imdiately reply but solemnly saluted again before standing up and saying excitedly, "You are the one we've been looking for, you've finally arrived, now we have hope."
"What do you an?" Luo Zheng asked, surprised.
After exchanging a few words with the people beside him and signaling everyone to stand up, Hook explained with a solemn face, "Thirty years ago, Japan established a research base here, capturing many people to work on construction, all never to return." As Hook spoke, anger and sorrow showed on his face.
"Huh?" Luo Zheng looked at Hook, surprised, not prompting further, but waiting patiently.
After a while, once Hook's emotions stabilized, he continued, "Over these thirty years, we've been continuously battling them, but never once were we victorious. We've had to relocate. Twenty years ago, our Great Wizard prophesied that an eastern warrior would descend from the skies, appearing on the day when our tribe's Holy Fire is extinguished by evil, defeating the flying beasts in the sky, and rescuing us from disaster. The Wizard had never seen a helicopter and didn't know what it was called. The tribe moved away, but at the Wizard's behest, my father stayed behind with so people, waiting for your arrival. That day, you descended from the heavens and saved our people. My father even personally saw you shoot down a helicopter, which perfectly matched the prophecy."
"It's just a coincidence. Why are you so sure it's ?" Luo Zheng asked, astonished.
"First, your arrival coincided closely with the date prophesied. Second, Japan has raided villages before, but they would only plunder and leave. This ti was different; they committed murder and arson, extinguishing the Holy Fire of our tribe. Your descent from the mountains to save people matches the prophecy of coming down from the sky; third, you destroyed the flying beast, aning the helicopter, which aligns with the prophecy. Fourth, you are from the East. Fifth, the heir to the Great Wizard, that elder, has divined it, confirming you are the eastern warrior. One or two points might be coincidence, but with all five matching, there's no mistake," Hook explained earnestly, his deanor respectful.
"Even so, I see you're ard, but do you really think you can fight Japan with just bows and arrows?" Luo Zheng said seriously, thinking that taking a group of natives ard only with primitive weapons against well-equipped soldiers was akin to committing suicide.
"Everyone must die soday," Hook insisted. "How we fight is up to you, we will follow your commands. As for dying, we have already lost too many. Thirty years of hatred, this revenge cannot go unclaid. Please have no worries; we are prepared to die in battle."
"What do you do?" Luo Zheng asked further.
"To learn about the outside civilization, to learn how to fight, we sent ten people out of the prival forest to join various ard groups, including Guerrilla forces and drug trafficking arms. I'm the only one still alive. I was just an ordinary Guerrilla fighter; as soon as I received the news, I hurriedly ca, deserting my unit. There's no going back now," Hook explained earnestly.
"If you've received training and understand combat, why didn't you co back earlier to lead a counterattack?" Luo Zheng continued probing. The situation was too sudden, too unreliable, and he felt uncertain about leading such a group into battle.
"I'm just an ordinary soldier, besides the weapon in my hands, I don't know much else, how to fight? Moreover, I'm not the person in the prophecy; they wouldn't listen to ," Hook said truthfully.
Luo Zheng fell silent. Seeing the look Lan Xue threw his way, he walked over and said in a low voice in Huaxia, "You've seen the situation, what should we do?"
"I never imagined you'd beco a savior, heh," Ghost Hand chuckled.
"You're still joking at a ti like this? This is too unreliable. A bunch of untrained people with bows and arrows against a force of nearly a thousand well-ard regular soldiers. And look at our numbers here; at most, no more than two hundred. How can you still laugh?" Mountain Eagle whispered reproachfully.
"You can't just look at the drawbacks, though. Everything has two sides. They're familiar with the area, fast, skilled with bows, and elusive. They're experts at surprise attacks. With the right tactics, it's not like they stand no chance," Ghost Hand chuckled as he explained.
"How many will have to die?" Snow Leopard warned.
"What war doesn't have casualties? Besides, they're avenging a deep-seated hatred; dying in battle is not sothing they regret. Following us, they can kill more of their enemies. For them, this is a good thing. For us, it's a great help having a common enemy. It benefits both parties, so why not do it?" Ghost Hand retorted.
"Makes sense," Luo Zheng mused. In the face of such deep-seated vengeance, even without their help, these natives would still seek revenge and people would die. By collaborating, both sides would benefit. As for the prophecy, there was no need to believe in it. On the battlefield, life and death hang by a thread, and victory can only co from oneself, not from a prophecy. With this realization, Luo Zheng's eyes fird with determination, and a plan began to form in his mind.
