"Bang bang bang!" On the helicopter, the Minigun M134 spewed bullets like rain, devastating the woods, breakingsmaller trees, and instantly killing so people who hid behind them. The tribal locals, having never undergone professional training, didn't know what to do and were panicking. They had wanted to escape earlier, and upon hearing Hook's command, who would hesitate? They broke into a wild run.
After one pass, the ard helicopter turned and swooped down again. Seeing people sprinting towards the base of the mountain, it imdiately pursued them. Unintentionally, it lowered its flight altitude. By then, Luo Zheng had already reached the highest point of the mountain ridge, lying flat on the ground, aiming his gun. Noticing that the natives were running extrely fast and had dispersed widely, he realized that though the helicopter's attack was fierce, its firing range was not wide, resulting in limited casualties.
"How should we shoot?" Lan Xue asked coldly through the headset.
Luo Zheng could feel Lan Xue's fury and, hearing that Mountain Eagle was also in position, replied, "Xue Er, it's tough to hit a combat helicopter; I'm not confident. You have more experience, you take command."
"Alright, attempt to lock on," Lan Xue said coldly, not declining the role. Luo Zheng quickly aid at the helicopter, finding its erratic flight path difficult to lock onto, which frustrated him. Then he heard Lan Xue shout through the headset, "The helicopter slows down when it turns around. Given its current speed, aim at half a helicopter's length ahead and wait for my command."
Luo Zheng swiftly aid to the left of the helicopter, constantly adjusting his aim as the helicopter moved. Seeing the helicopter repeatedly firing and occasionally launching its rockets, the swagger was unbearable. The casualties among the tribal locals were mounting, urging him into urgency, but without Lan Xue's command, Luo Zheng restrained himself from firing, continually reminding himself to stay calm.
Under the relentless attack of the ard helicopter, there was no chance to save anyone. The best course was to wait for an opportunity to take down the helicopter. In a little while, the helicopter whooshed overhead, preparing to turn around for another attack. Lan Xue suddenly shouted, "Mountain Eagle, one helicopter body to the left, Ghost, two positions, be ready."
The helicopter clearly began to turn left, the nose starting to veer off. Luo Zheng quickly adjusted his aim, estimating the approximate position, his eyes cold and stern as he awaited the mont.
"Kill!" Lan Xue commanded coldly.
"Whoosh!" Three sniper bullets shot forth almost simultaneously, filled with rage, tearing through the space barrier, igniting the air, and drawing a terrifying energy shockwave.
"Boom!" It was unclear whose bullet hit the helicopter, but it instantly ignited with the Flammable Agent, catching fire. The people on the helicopter panicked, rapidly elevating the aircraft, but the high temperature and strong adhesion of the Flammable Agent? It wasn't blown out by the airstream but instead burned even more fiercely.
Soon, the helicopter was emitting black smoke, frantically flying away. Luo Zheng watched coldly, powerless to do anything as it was too fast for a second shot and impossible to catch up with. He could only watch helplessly as the helicopter fled, cursing angrily, "They got away."
"Yes, their pilot is highly skilled, it's a pity," Lan Xue remarked, also clearly regretful.
"A pity," Mountain Eagle said coldly.
The three of them tead up, yet they still let the helicopter get away, which was truly regrettable. Luo Zheng sighed helplessly and looked down the mountain, about to ask Hook to call everyone up, when suddenly, a loud "Boom!" sounded. Luo Zheng's face changed drastically as he turned around to see a fireball rising in the sky—the helicopter had exploded, and debris was flying everywhere.
"Huh?" Luo Zheng looked at the scene with disbelief, unable to understand how the helicopter had just exploded.
"Thank goodness," Lan Xue breathed a sigh of relief.
"Good." Luo Zheng ca to his senses, realizing that the destruction of the helicopter was a good thing after all. The enemy had only two combat helicopters, both destroyed, leaving just one transport helicopter, which greatly reduced the threat. The upcoming battle would now be much easier to handle. This was a primitive forest, not the land of the Japanese pirates, and getting another ard helicopter here would not be easy.
"Oh, oh, oh!" Below, the tribe's indigenous people cried out eagerly, looking very excited as they ran up the mountain.
Luo Zheng quickly counted, nearly half of the team of about two hundred remained after the helicopter attack. His face changed, and his mood grew heavy—the lives of nearly one hundred people had just been lost; they had been alive and kicking just monts before. Lan Xue ca over and whispered consolingly, "Where is there a war without deaths? This is not only our war but also theirs. They are the heroes of the tribe. Though dead, they are honored. Don't be too sad. Think about what to do next."
"The enemy knows we're moving and will definitely take precautions. It's not wise to rush in now, but giving up isn't an option either; our sacrifices would be in vain. Look at their morale," Luo Zheng spoke softly, gesturing for Hook to co over.
Hook ca running over with a pained expression, forcing a smile, and said gratefully, "Thanks to you all for just now. Otherwise, none of us would have survived. Our brothers suffered heavy casualties."
Though the initial results were not victorious, Luo Zheng also felt helpless and troubled, "Yes, I didn't expect that our movents would be discovered. The enemy has scouts who detected us in advance. How's everyone's morale? Should we continue fighting or retreat? I want to hear your opinions."
"So many brothers have died. We can't just give up like this. However, let ask everyone else for their opinion. Please wait a mont," said Hook sadly, before he hurriedly turned away.
"It looks like everyone's spirits are low," Lan Xue said worriedly. "You're right, a group of people ard only with bows and arrows can't defeat a fully equipped regular army. Continuing the fight doesn't make much sense. Maybe they should retreat. Keep so seedlings alive, so the whole tribe doesn't get wiped out."
"Didn't you just say it? This is their war. Let's leave it to them," Luo Zheng said solemnly. Seeing Hook running back with Xiong Bi, Bao Li, Lang Sen, and the Wizard—but no old Hook—he felt a pang in his heart. Looking at the approaching Hook, Luo Zheng asked, "Where is your father, old Hook?"
"He has gone to be with the gods," Hook said mournfully. Seeing Luo Zheng's pained expression, he added gratefully, "Thank you for your concern. Please don't worry. My father died in battle, a hero of the tribe, and died gloriously. We've discussed among ourselves, and we'll listen to you. You are the man of prophecy. Whatever you say, we will follow."
"This?" Luo Zheng's face hardened; he hesitated and looked at Lan Xue, who sent him an encouraging look but remained silent. Luo Zheng gave a bitter smile and fell into deep thought. Fighting ant the enemy was prepared; retreating ant dying in vain, and where could they retreat to? Whether to fight or to retreat, it was a dilemma.
