"Hook, stop releasing the poison smoke, get ready to fight," Luo Zheng commanded coldly as he glanced at the enemies attacking uphill and then towards the base, where the Japanese soldiers who had co to check had collapsed, those left to guard the base stumbled around unsteadily in the thick smoke, so diving underground, a cold glint in his eyes, it was ti for a total assault.
"Yes," Hook answered excitedly, rubbing his hands together and itching to get into the fray.
Five minutes later, Luo Zheng saw that the enemy attacking uphill had entered the forest, soon to encounter the ambush; the poison smoke was also dissipating. His half-closed eyes suddenly burst open, radiating intense killing intent, he ordered, "Hook, attack."
"Yes, attack!" Hook responded eagerly, shouting to the others who were already prepared, he grabbed a vine, swung himself backwards off the cliff with skilled ease, and the others also grabbed vines and swung themselves down the cliff with decisive movents, without a mont's hesitation.
Luo Zheng, seeing this, let go of his last bit of worry, enduring the pain in his chest, grabbed a vine and swung back to the edge of the cliff, nodded at Lan Xue and others, took a leap, and descended swiftly, slightly loosening his grip on the vine after dropping a few ters, then kicked off the cliff face to continue his rapid descent.
In no ti, Luo Zheng landed at the bottom of the cliff, took up a kneeling position to keep watch, and seeing more locals co down, led by Hook, rushing towards the base with a roar, he breathed a sigh of relief. After a while, Lan Xue and the others had all co down; there was no unusual movent at the base, the locals shot arrows at those who hadn't collapsed, Luo Zheng glanced at everyone, they nodded in understanding, and the attack formation advanced.
On their way, the locals were howling maniacally as they charged, those who had reached the base were hunting down the unconscious, Luo Zheng and his n rushed to the base when suddenly they heard a burst of rapid gunfire, turning in shock to see a dozen soldiers erging from the southeast corner, kneeling and firing at the locals slaughtering the unconscious soldiers.
"Tat tat tat!" Luo Zheng and his n fired back without hesitation—five n, five rifles, shooting with deadly accuracy. Before the enemy soldiers could react, they were all killed. Rushing forward, they found an underground passage with enemies attempting to erge. They fired a barrage into the entrance, driving the enemy back.
After securing the entrance, Luo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief, feeling incredibly lucky that most of the enemy were sleeping in the underground base, unaware of the attack outside. The enemies on the ground were too dazed by the poison smoke, and by the ti they reacted, the attack had already comnced. With little ti, few enemies ca out. Luo Zheng imdiately said, "Ghost Hand, lock down the entrance with firepower; the rest of you, keep watch in every direction, one person per quadrant, see if there are any other exits."
Everyone responded in unison, turning to take their positions back to back, kneeling to aim ahead. Luo Zheng, seeing the locals freely shooting the unconscious enemies and howling fiercely, remained unmoved by the bloodshed, his stern gaze searching for suspicious targets.
"Tat tat tat!" Ghost Hand sprayed bullets at the exit while cursing, "Co out, let's see you co out now."
The base was filled with an intense killing presence, and the sounds of shrill cries filled the air as the locals vented their rage. Luo Zheng watched the scene with a calm composure, devoid of any pity. The Japanese had slaughtered their ancestors; it was ti they faced retaliation. His frosty gaze swept the area; seeing no one else erging, he silently relaxed.
The one-sided massacre at the base quickly ended. Hook, covered in blood and radiating murderous intent, approached Luo Zheng and respectfully said, "The enemies on the surface have been cleared, let us lead the assault now," as he pointed towards the underground entrance, his face set with determination.
Just then, soone urgently spoke a few words to Hook, causing his expression to change dramatically. He hurriedly said to Luo Zheng, "The enemy attacking uphill seems to be coming back."
"Then what are we waiting for? Take your n and charge up there; I'll hold here. Attack when you return, move quickly," Luo Zheng exclaid in alarm.
"Thank you," Hook said gratefully, shouting commands, his n responding and charging forward with a fierce battle cry and an imposing montum, leaving Luo Zheng impressed with their ferocity in battle.
"Ratatat!" Ghost Hand saw soone trying to rush up. Without hesitation, he attacked downwards, shouting, "Should we throw so bombs down there?"
"Okay," Luo Zheng replied casually. There was no rcy on the battlefield; effectiveness in killing the enemy was the only concern.
Ghost Hand took out a button-shaped intense ti bomb from his backpack, tore it open, and threw it down. It wasn't long before there were violent explosions followed by countless screams. Ghost Hand got excited and laughed loudly, "You little Japanese devils, you've got a taste of your own dicine now. Watch how grandpa takes care of you bastards."
"If they're bastards and you're their grandpa, doesn't that make you an old turtle?" Snow Leopard teased with a laugh.
"Get lost if you're just jealous of killing the enemy. Want to have a go yourself?" Ghost Hand retorted with a smile.
"Sure thing," Snow Leopard eagerly replied, quickly swapping places with Ghost Hand. He grabbed a button-shaped intense ti bomb and threw it inside while shouting, "Haha, I finally get to kill so Japanese devils myself. Die, die, die!"
"Boom, boom, boom!" A massive explosion rang out, and smoke filled the air. As it billowed out from the entrance, Lan Xue coldly called out, "Enough, any more and it might collapse—be careful, the enemy could use the smoke to sneak out."
"Don't worry," Snow Leopard called back loudly, but he stopped the bombing and aid his gun, watching the entrance intently, taking no chances.
Seeing that there were no more enemies on the surface of the base, Luo Zheng let out a sigh of relief. He turned to look at the direction of the enemy reinforcents, where gunfire was intense. Hook had taken more than a hundred n to support them. Fifty who had learned to shoot had considerable fighting power, not to ntion the original group of over a hundred lying in ambush. He believed that the enemy was in for a bad ti.
After a dozen minutes, the gunfire in the woods dwindled. No more assaults ca from the underground base, and Luo Zheng patiently waited a while longer. Seeing Hook running back excitedly with his n, he knew that they had won and felt completely relieved, thinking it was ti to deal with the enemies below.
"Ha ha ha! Thrilling! Shall we go down and clean up the rats underground?" Hook exclaid with excitent.
Luo Zheng glanced at Hook and then at the people following him, their faces filled with bloodlust and excitent. He said, "No rush. We don't know how extensive the underground base is. Also, the enemies on the ground and those pursuing us total no more than four hundred. I estimate there are still another four to five hundred enemy forces below. We can't just go down recklessly."
"What shall we do then? We can't just let it be, can we?" Hook said anxiously.
"What's the rush? There will be a way. Do you want everyone to die in vain?" Ghost Hand chided, dissatisfied.
"Uh?" Hook's face changed, and he explained awkwardly, "We've been holding back for decades. I got a bit hasty."
