Outside the clubhouse, Lan Xue handed Gui Fang and the young girl over to a policewoman for her to watch over, then stepped aside to call her grandfather, Mr. Li. As soon as the call connected and Lan Xue was about to speak, a kind yet authoritative voice said, "I already know the situation. Don't worry, the Guardian Capital Army will send soone shortly. The military will handle this, it's not a place for local intervention. Keep an eye on your people at the clubhouse. This is an opportunity."
Upon hearing this, Lan Xue was overjoyed. With her mind making swift calculations, she gratefully hung up the phone and turned stern. She hurried inside just in ti to see Ghost Hand cursing into the phone furiously. She didn't stop him but watched the middle-aged man with a cold gaze. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Luo Zheng giving her an inquiring look. She subtly nodded, and Luo Zheng, taken aback, smiled knowingly.
After Ghost Hand finished his satisfying curse, he smashed the phone onto the ground, drawing everyone's attention, but he quickly glanced at Lan Xue. Lan Xue nodded, and Ghost Hand, in unspoken agreent, smiled even wider, having no more reservations. After all the life-and-death experiences they had shared, there was an understanding among them. Ghost Hand could feel that Lan Xue had arranged everything smoothly behind the scenes, so there was nothing to worry about. He then coldly declared, "Elder Ba, since you've called in your dirty tricks, you should die knowing why."
"Fine, let's see who has the last laugh," the middle-aged man said with a chilly tone, his face looking particularly ugly. However, in his mind, he was calculating his exit strategies. The fact that Shi Feng from the serious cri unit didn't take any action was enough to indicate that the five cocky individuals before him were no simple matter. He was rely a hoodlum, so when it ca down to it, could the dark hand behind him really offer protection?
Thinking of this, the middle-aged man's complexion grew so dark that it seed water might drip from it. He looked coldly at Ghost Hand, his slightly closed eyes nearly spewing fire as he made up his mind. If the dark hand's power was insufficient, he would take on all the burdens himself, to leave a way out for his family and children.
Ghost Hand looked coldly at the middle-aged man, not caring what the man was planning. Now that the situation had escalated, it might as well go all out. Inside the living room, everyone remained silent. The officers from the serious cri unit watched anxiously as the hoodlums crouched on the ground. Without a word from Shi Feng, they didn't know what to do.
Shi Feng actually wanted to arrest so hoodlums and be done with it, but he knew his authority was not sufficient to provoke these five individuals with Central Guard Corps identity badges. They were like the Imperial Army, so where would he dare to issue arrest orders? He simply played dumb, waiting patiently while signaling to his subordinates to be careful and stay calm.
Before long, a group of people hurriedly entered through the door, led by none other than Beijing's main city-level leader, Song Yan, who was in charge of political and legal affairs. He was Shi Feng's superior's superior. Seeing Song Yan arrive, Shi Feng awkwardly ran up to salute him. Song Yan didn't even glance at Shi Feng, but instead ca up to Ghost Hand with a cold face and said, "Kid, your dad said he won't get involved in this. I want to see how you can be arrogant."
"Really? That's great. To tell the truth, I was actually afraid he'd ddle," Ghost Hand said with a cold laugh, thinking to himself that it seed his father was inclined to protect his own after all. Not getting involved must an he had received a heads-up from soone, which was to his advantage. His courage bolstered, he looked at Song Yang and then at the middle-aged man, noticing the latter's hopeful expression. He couldn't resist taunting, "Elder Ba, now that your dark hand has arrived, speak freely about any grievances you have."
"I don't know what you're talking about," the middle-aged man, of course, would not admit to this and responded coldly. He turned to look at Song Yan, forcing out a bit of a smile, but that smile was uglier than crying. He put on a pitiable act and said, "Leader, these people barged in with guns, and I am a legitimate businessman. You have to take my side."
"Shi Feng, is this how you conduct your investigations?" Song Yan suddenly snapped coldly. "The law is impartial, and as Law Enforcers, one must never practice favoritism or fear violence. If you don't know how to apply the law, then go ho. If you still have any sense of justice, take everyone here back for questioning, and give an explanation to the badge on your cap and restore peace to the community."
"Quite a big hat you're trying to put on ," Ghost Hand smirked, seeing Shi Feng in utter embarrassnt. "Song Yan, you take a shot at , and see what happens?"
"Quite the arrogance, do you even respect the law?" Song Yan was instantly enraged, being addressed so casually from behind and then threatened. This made Song Yan, who was accustod to being treated with respect, extrely angry. Thinking about the motive and consequences behind the whole incident, he beca even more determined to take the person back for interrogation. Once at the police station, he would be on his own turf, and how to handle the situation would be entirely up to his mood.
"The law? I have the sa question for you, who gave them such authority to kidnap my little sister? Do they really think I can be bullied so easily?" Ghost Hand looked at Song Yang with an icy face, his eyes flickering with a murderous intent.
Song Yang felt a sharp murderous aura bearing down upon him, which was heart-thumping and chilling, making him secretly fear its intensity. Yet, he managed to maintain a composed expression and said, "If we take him to the police station, we'll find out, won't we? Considering your father's position, I won't hold this against you. Step aside now, do not obstruct law enforcent. I believe the police will give you an explanation."
"Explanation?" Ghost Hand scoffed, glancing at Lan Xue.
Lan Xue knew it was her turn to step in. With a hardened look in her pretty eyes, she spoke coldly, "Song Yan, don't tell you're unaware of our identities. With our status, do we need the police to explain things to us? We can take care of our own affairs."
"You?" Song Yan of course knew the identity of Lan Xue and the others, but he dared not disclose it, since doing so would be tantamount to leaking state secrets, a cri that could be severely punished. He did not wish to bear such a burden. Thinking of Mr. Li supporting Lan Xue, Song Yan's face beca strict, and a flash of concern passed through his eyes.
This flicker of concern was quickly noticed by the cunning middle-aged man, who felt a jolt in his heart. He realized that sothing was wrong. If even the powerful Song family was afraid of the five people in front of them, what sort of status did they possess? In a mont of panic, he clenched his teeth and said, "Leader, I'm guilty. I deceived you. I lost my senses and kidnapped two young girls, but I've already released them. I confess; I turn myself in. Arrest ."
The middle-aged man was well aware that kidnapping was a minor cri that would result in a few years of imprisonnt at worst. As long as he took all the bla on himself and absolved the Song family, once inside the police station, the Song family would surely look after him, and he might even be released early on parole. If he continued to refuse, not only would it be difficult for Song Yan, but he also feared he wouldn't fare well.
Seeing the middle-aged man react so quickly, Song Yan was inwardly pleased, but outwardly he put on an expression of authority as he ordered, "What do you an? You really kidnapped soone? So you're saying you've lied to ? Co on, arrest all these kidnappers and take them back to the police station for severe interrogation!" he exclaid with a look of righteous indignation.
"Quite the act of playing both sides," Lan Xue said coldly, seeing Song Yan trying to absolve himself. She would not let him off easily. Turning her cold gaze to the middle-aged man, a shade of mockery flashed in her eyes as she sneered, "Elder Ba, right? To stoop to such a level as a dog, you've certainly risen in rank, able to shoulder the bla at a critical mont. But do you even know who we are?"
