"Ah?" The middle-aged man was startled, sensing that the situation had completely exceeded his expectations, yet he still asserted, "I don't care who you are. I admit to the kidnapping and now I'm surrendering myself. Police, arrest ." Saying this, he stood up and walked toward Shi Feng, displaying an appearance ready for self-surrender. Seeing the secret glance from Song Yan, he felt greatly reassured. As long as he was in the police's custody, the middle-aged man believed that the Song family would protect him.

"Take him away," Song Yan ordered coldly.

Shi Feng, feeling uncomfortable, glanced at Lan Xue, about to make his move, when Ghost Hand starkly said, "Who dare make a move?"

"Are you resisting the law?" Song Yan shouted, his face turning livid. Had it not been for the fear of Ghost Hand's family background, he would have never tolerated such arrogance. Seeing Lan Xue's mocking smile, his heart sank, his composure disrupted, vaguely feeling that things were slipping out of control. He took a deep breath, ca to a decision for a quick battle, and then leave the area, then yelled, "Shi Feng, what are you waiting for?"

"Who dares touch him?" Suddenly, the main door was kicked open and a group of ard soldiers rushed in. The thugs were dumbfounded. How had the military beco involved? The middle-aged man was also stunned, looking at Song Yan with a face full of shock, fear, bewildernt, and mostly bla for not clarifying earlier. If he had known it involved the military, he would have never taken up the job. Once the army is involved, is there even a place to reason? Would the Song family still be able to protect him?

Song Yan was caught off guard. Despite all his calculations, he had not anticipated the military arriving so swiftly. Once in the police station, that was a local issue, but if taken to the army, the local authorities could not intervene. This was a big issue. Realizing this, Song Yan's expression darkened, and he stepped forward to et the leader, a Major, and said, "I am Song Yan. Which unit are you from?"

"Military conducting official duties. Everyone, stay put. Whoever moves, I shoot to kill," the Major said sternly, without even a glance at Song Yan, and moved closer to Lan Xue, asking sowhat uncertainly, "May I know who you are?"

"Here is my ID," Lan Xue said coldly, handing over her identification.

Seeing this, the middle-aged man suddenly realized that these five formidable beings were military personnel. He had offended the military; it was over for him. He looked toward Song Yan in a pleading manner, only to find Song Yan with a grim face, his mouth tightly shut, showing no intention of interfering. Realizing he had been abandoned, the middle-aged man's face turned as white as a sheet. But then, thinking of his wife and child, he hardened his resolve, planning to take the full brunt himself.

The Major returned the ID to Lan Xue and saluted respectfully, quickly saying, "Guardian Capital Army's Special Action Team, reporting for duty as per orders. Please instruct us."

Upon hearing "Guardian Capital Army," Song Yan's face drastically changed. The Guardian Capital Army was under the military's control, and would not mobilize without the chairman's approval. This indicated that the chairman's influence was behind this incident. He must return quickly and consult with the patriarch for strategies, or else they would be at a disadvantage. Thinking this, Song Yan headed out.

"Best not move. There won't be a second warning." A soldier quickly aid his gun at Song Yan and said coldly, drawing everyone's attention. Song Yan knew that soldiers only followed orders and had no regard for him, daring not make any sudden moves to avoid the risk of being shot.

Lan Xue knew this was arranged by her grandfather; otherwise, the Guardian Capital Army would not concern itself with this matter. She cast a cold look at Song Yan and said, "Take all these thugs away and interrogate them thoroughly. That one is their leader; don't let him die. This area is now under martial law; search it carefully."

"Yes," the Major responded loudly, chest swelling with authority as he started rounding up the gangsters, who dared not resist.

Hearing Lan Xue's order to search the place, Song Yan's face turned pale, and he covertly glanced at the middle-aged man. The middle-aged man's face was ashen, his entire body beginning to tremble. Song Yan realized there was a problem, but with the military taking over, there was no way for him to intervene. His face turned icy, and he said to Lan Xue, "Since the military has taken charge here, I will withdraw the police for now."

"Fine," Lan Xue said coldly. The police were innocent. As for Song Yan, without sufficient evidence, she couldn't just take action either. Although Lan Xue was eager to cause trouble for the Song family, she dared not act rashly. She looked at Luo Zheng, and seeing no objection from him, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Little did they know that Luo Zheng keenly observed the panicked expressions of Song Yan and the middle-aged man when they heard the area would be searched. He suspected that there might be sothing in this place, his spirits lifted, and he interjected, "Elder Ba, stay for a while."

The Major looked at Luo Zheng, then at Lan Xue. Seeing her nod, he imdiately signaled the two soldiers preparing to capture the middle-aged man to retreat. Luo Zheng nodded in thanks to the Major. Soon, everyone was led out except Song Yan, who left, and Shi Feng, seeing that he wasn't needed, also gathered his team and departed.

Only Lan Xue and her group, along with the middle-aged man, remained in the living room. The Major was politely dismissed by Lan Xue. Everyone turned to Luo Zheng, who turned to the middle-aged man and coldly said, "Tell the truth. We are from the military. You kidnapped a military family mber, which is a serious offense requiring military court. I know you are not afraid to die, but have you thought about your family?"

"Just because you're a soldier, does that an you can disregard the law?" The middle-aged man retorted sulkily.

"Of course we abide by the law. You were instructed by soone else to kidnap, weren't you?" Luo Zheng said coldly.

"No one instructed . I did it myself. If you have the guts, execute ," the middle-aged man taunted.

"Brave words. Do you think taking everything upon yourself and your family will fix this?" Luo Zheng scoffed, glanced around the room, and continued, "We all know what's happening here. Let's be frank. You have sothing I want in this house. I don't want to search for it. Just tell where it is. It'd count as rit, and you could face less punishnt. If I have to find it myself, your charges will only get heavier."

Lan Xue's eyes lit up, imdiately understanding Luo Zheng's intention—evidence. As long as they had evidence against the Song family, they could strike back. She began searching eagerly. Seeing the middle-aged man's resolute deanor, clearly unwilling to speak, Luo Zheng chuckled coldly and said, "Since you're prepared to go down with the Song family, I'll grant your wish. Guys, let's search ourselves."

The middle-aged man beca desperate. To protect himself, he indeed had kept quite a bit of material that could be used for blackmailing the Song family if they turned against him. No one knew better than him what these materials ant. Once discovered, even if he took the bla for the kidnapping, the Song family would certainly not spare him.

Realizing the crux of the matter, the middle-aged man knew he had no choice but to gamble. He quickly shouted, "If I hand them over, can I really get a reduced sentence?"

"That's for the judge to decide. I can only guarantee to plead for you," Luo Zheng said coldly, his heart, however, overjoyed at the prospect of finally dealing with the Song family.

The middle-aged man pondered for a mont, weighing his bleak options. Whether he handed them over or not, the items would be found during the search. Once found, the Song family would undoubtedly harm his family severely. It would be better to act first; if he could topple the Song family, his own family would be safe. If not, he was prepared to face the consequences. With that in mind, he got up.
