The squad leader killed by Lan Xue was the highest commander of the small team, with a special identity. Seeing their commander killed, the other minor leaders in the team were stunned and panicked. After a brief chaos, they quickly organized their forces to pursue, roaring furiously. No one bothered about the fourth squad and the people from the Military Research Institute.

Lan Xue stumbled along, bleeding profusely. Realizing that the enemy had caught up, a slight relief washed over her frosty face. She stopped to find cover and fired quickly, killing the enemies at the forefront and suppressing their pursuit. Then she hurriedly pulled out a first aid kit from her backpack to stop the bleeding and bandage the wound, her movents extrely skilled.

After taking care of everything, with the enemy just a dozen ters away, Lan Xue didn't panic. She reloaded and continued firing, holding a gun in each hand, with each shot biting flesh, suppressing the enemy's advance once more. She then took a deep breath, looked up at the sky—where the sun shone brightly, adding a touch of bitterness to her icy face—and wondered if she could survive this ti. Luo Zheng's image involuntarily surfaced in her mind.

"Da da da!" The pursuers continued their assault. Lan Xue quickly gathered her spirits to counterattack, shooting with precision and suppressing the enemy's offensive once again. Seeing the pursuers flanking her from both sides, she had no choice but to turn and flee. With a wound on her leg, her running speed was much slower. Another bullet ca flying and struck her in the back.

The bullet pierced through the backpack but was stopped by the bullet-resistant vest. Lan Xue staggered forward, nearly falling, as a searing pain spread across her back. Knowing she had been shot, she clenched her silvery teeth, enduring the pain and hastening her pace, using the surrounding trees as cover and slowly increasing the distance between her and the enemy.

The ard militants were clearly skilled in jungle warfare, relentlessly pursuing without being shaken off. Lan Xue, losing a lot of blood, felt her body weakening and her strength failing. She had to stop for rest, finding a place to hide well. Seeing the pursuers clinging on tightly, Lan Xue quickly counterattacked.

After emptying a magazine, Lan Xue saw the pursuers getting closer. She had to continue retreating. Gradually, she started feeling dizzy. Looking at the surrounding forest, she couldn't help but recall the scene when she first t Luo Zheng, how similar it was to this crucial mont today. It was a pity that in this lifeti they hadn't ended up together. Lan Xue's frosty face wore a look of deep affection, which then turned into resolve.

"Da da da!" The pursuers were catching up again.

Lan Xue shook her head to clear it a bit and glanced at the pursuers behind her. She let out a cold laugh and swiftly returned fire, killing about ten of the leading pursuers. She then turned the gun and continued to retreat. After a while of running, the terrain suddenly opened up. Lan Xue was shocked and then her face turned bitter—it was a cliff.

Coming to the edge of the cliff, Lan Xue saw the river below. The cliff was over a hundred ters high, leaving her with no way out. She found a rock to hide behind and took deep breaths, calmly checking her weapons. She took out the last two magazines and placed them aside, then checked the remaining ammunition in her other guns. Knowing what she had left, she had no choice but to fight. It was only regrettable that she couldn't see her beloved one last ti before dying.

Thinking of Luo Zheng, Lan Xue felt a little better. Having loved was enough, even though they hadn't ended up together. With not many regrets left, she coldly reorganized her ammunition. Hearing footsteps approaching, her ice-cold face bore a hint of scorn as she quickly entered combat.

At that mont, two pursuers charged up from the slope. Lan Xue raised her hand and fired twice, blowing the heads off the two pursuers. They were only ten ters apart on the flat terrain of the mountain cliff; those charging up from the mountainside had no cover, like sitting ducks. If it weren't for her injuries and the concern about running out of bullets, Lan Xue was confident she could hold the position for a considerable amount of ti.

"Bang, bang, bang!" Three more shots burst the heads of three pursuers who had rushed up. Lan Xue continued to wait with her gun ready for more targets willing to rush to their deaths. Suddenly, a dark object flew out of nowhere. Lan Xue was startled and imdiately thought of a grenade. She raised her hand and fired, detonating the grenade in mid-air.

"Boom!" The grenade exploded, and Lan Xue quickly ducked behind a rock to avoid being hit by shrapnel. After the explosion, she resud her aim, sternly awaiting her attackers' advance. She didn't see any pursuers rushing up but saw several grenades flying towards her, and her expression drastically changed.

For Lan Xue, death was not scary, but the thought of being captured alive and not dying from the explosion was terrifying. Being a woman and a prisoner ant an extrely painful end. She thought of Luo Zheng, her face turned stern, and without hesitation, she turned and ran. With a leap, she jumped down the cliffside; in mid-air, her mind was filled with images of Luo Zheng, his cold face bearing a tender smile.

"So death isn't scary after all. It's such a pity, my beloved. If there's an afterlife, let's continue our story then." This thought crossed her mind as the wind howled in her ears. Lan Xue slowly closed her eyes...

"Da da da!" Several agile figures appeared behind the pursuers, charging with overwhelming murderous intent. It was the mbers of the Fourth Squad. After retreating several hundred ters and not finding Lan Xue, everyone imdiately understood what had happened. Letting a woman cover the rear was a disgrace to the n, and letting a female superior cover the rear was even more unacceptable to a soldier.

The Fourth Squad's Commander arranged for a warrior to stay with the injured mbers and led the others into the fray. No one knew what had happened to Lan Xue, but they knew she was being attacked ahead, facing many enemies scattered all over the hills with fierce firepower. Yet, no one flinched, and no one retreated.

Everyone must face death eventually, and dying heroically on the battlefield is a soldier's honor. Fueled by anger, everyone charged without caring whether they would die or not. Their fierce counterattack took the ard force by surprise, but they quickly organized a counterattack. Both sides, one trying to save a comrade and the other fighting to live, charged fearlessly into battle.

The battle quickly reached a fever pitch as the well-trained Special Forces of the Fourth Squad took down each enemy that charged at them with deadly precision. But soon they ran out of bullets. Facing the swarming pursuers, everyone unhesitantly drew their military sabers and charged with soldiers' pride and honor, shouting as they went.

Seeing the enemy turn fully to engage, the Fourth Squad's Commander understood that sothing must have happened to Lan Xue; otherwise, they wouldn't be reacting like this. His heart sank. Lan Xue was dead, and what would it an for them to return alive? To live with disgrace for a lifeti? The Commander didn't hesitate to draw his military saber. He didn't stop his brothers from charging but instead shouted through the headset to the one left behind, "Brother, take the injured back and report everything to the higher-ups. Go quickly."

"What happened?" The soldier who was left behind asked urgently through the headset.

"The female officer drew the enemy away to protect us and may have sacrificed herself. As n, as soldiers, we must avenge her. You, go quickly." After speaking, the Fourth Squad's Commander removed his headset, gripped his military dagger, and charged forward. His piercing gaze flashed with a trace of determination as he plunged like a tiger into the midst of the enemy...
