These days, Luo Zheng had been pondering the issue of attacking Kuntai Group. What had started as a straightforward rescue mission had now beco additionally burdened with the task of helping the pangolin kill Kuntai, vastly increasing the difficulty of the assignnt. After musing for a mont, he said, "Killing Kuntai isn't hard; I just need to lure him out and snipe him, and I'm fully confident about that. But I need your help to find out Lan Xue's whereabouts. Are you confident you can do that?"
Each profession has its expertise. For intelligence personnel, killing can be difficult. For example, pangolin, even if integrated within the Kuntai group, would find it hard to seize the opportunity to strike. After all, Kuntai isn't a fool, guarded heavily wherever he goes. But for combat personnel, it's just a matter of a single bullet.
The pangolin pondered for a mont before saying, "Leave the task of finding out about Lan Xue to ; that's my specialty. However, Kuntai won't easily leave his lair, and even if he does, he won't leak his whereabouts. You'll probably have a hard ti finding the opportunity to strike. Although I'm infiltrating close to him, I can't influence his decisions, so luring him out won't be easy."
Luo Zheng understood the pangolin's vengeful mindset; having doubts was understandable. One would likely hold back before being able to avenge a great wrong, at least until there was a glimpse of hope. Nodding in understanding, he fell into contemplation. After a while, Luo Zheng suddenly said, "With Kuntai's supplies having been blown up and internal instability causing widespread panic, Kuntai must be at his wits' end. This band of drug traffickers is brought together by narcotics. Now that their current stock is destroyed by , if the opium poppies still growing outside are eradicated, wouldn't Kuntai beco enraged and pursue us out of fury?"
"There's a high probability of that. If the opium poppies are destroyed, and if Kuntai remains inactive, his credibility will plumt, and his n will scatter," the pangolin replied, his eyes lighting up in agreent before asking, "Combat isn't my strong suit. The question now is, how will you destroy his opium poppies?"
"This does pose so difficulty. Do you know where we can get fuel?" Luo Zheng asked in return.
"Fuel?" The pangolin bowed his head in thought, then his eyes suddenly glead as he said, "There's so at the base, but it's probably hard to get it out. About fifty kiloters from here, there's a valley where a large number of opium poppies are grown. There's a base there with around a hundred guards. They have so gasoline reserves inside. After harvesting the poppies, they need to transport them by vehicle, and without gasoline, that's impossible. Northwards, there's a road cut through the mountains that's suitable for driving, easy to find."
"Leave it to . We'll et here again at this ti the day after tomorrow. We'll move separately, Kuntai's mine to take care of. I'll rely on you to find the people," Luo Zheng said earnestly.
"Sure," the pangolin didn't ask more. The higher-ups had already inford the pangolin of Luo Zheng's identity. As the wife of a National Blade Intelligence Team mber, the pangolin had so knowledge about National Blade. Given that Luo Zheng was part of National Blade and held in high regard by the higher-ups, the pangolin had no doubt about Luo Zheng's capabilities. He seriously said, "If possible, I would like to personally slaughter that beast Kuntai, of course, without affecting your plan."
"Sure, I'll try my best," Luo Zheng replied, not daring to make promises he couldn't keep.
The pangolin expressed his thanks and hurriedly left. Luo Zheng didn't ask about the pangolin's cover identity within Kuntai's group, nor did he have the slightest doubt. A person entrusted by the team leader couldn't be wrong.
Luo Zheng hastily left the waterfall pool and returned to the woods on the hillside to regroup with his team. He gathered Shi Qingshan and several squad leaders and said in a low voice, "Fifty kiloters north, there's a valley planted with a large number of opium poppies. There's a base guarded by roughly a hundred people. We need to move at night, destroy the base, seize the gasoline stored there, and use it to burn the valley's opium poppies."
"Yes," everyone said in unison. Only a hundred guards were no trouble, given that they also had a hundred people.
"After burning down the valley, set up an ambush halfway. If Kuntai cos, we must annihilate them. Capturing them alive would be best. Does anyone have any questions?" Luo Zheng asked in a low voice.
"None," everyone responded in unison.
"Move out." At Luo Zheng's command, the team quickly sprang into action, heading north. Soon they found the dirt road that had been carved out; calling it a road was a bit generous—it was more of a trail cleared of trees to allow vehicle access. Everyone found it easier to travel along the trail, and their pace quickened considerably.
The journey went very smoothly, without encountering any enemies. After the Kuntai Group base cave had been bombed, a large number of personnel were needed to clear the rubble and search for buried supplies within the cave. Apart from the necessary guards, everyone else took turns clearing out the cave. Kuntai believed they had deployed a large number of forces to pursue the bombers, who would be too busy fleeing to consider a counterattack, so there was no need to waste manpower.
The team marched hurriedly, and by noon the next day, they reached a hillside. Beyond it lay the valley. Luo Zheng hurried to the front to scout and saw that the valley was expansive and offered a clear view. It was filled with opium poppies, their bright red blooms resembling blood, giving the valley an eerie aura.
On one side of the valley, several wooden huts had been constructed on the slope, with smoke curling up, likely preparing lunch. Ard patrols were seen in the vicinity, moving farther away. Two trucks were parked, and as it wasn't yet the season for harvesting opium poppy pods, the valley was quiet. The gentle breeze added a sense of tranquility to the valley.
Luo Zheng observed the ard militants' settlent ahead for a mont, then drew back, sat down, and Shi Qingshan along with the captains of ten squads gathered around, forming a circle and looking at Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng thought for a while and said, "The team has marched here hastily and is exhausted. We'll rest on the spot for two hours and then launch the attack."
"Yes," everyone said softly, and they signaled to their teams to disperse slowly into the woods, lting away without a trace.
"Set up the watch," Luo Zheng said, looking at Shi Qingshan. Shi Qingshan acknowledged, threw a glance at one of the squad leaders, who nodded with understanding. He imdiately left and used his headset to call his squad to arrange the watch.
The forest soon fell silent, as if devoid of people; everyone quietly ate their rations, making as little noise as possible. Luo Zheng looked at the quiet woods, where over a hundred n seed to vanish out of existence, their stealth techniques were impressive, and he couldn't help but smile—it was the hallmark of well-trained Special Forces.
After eating and drinking their fill, everyone rested to recover their strength. As ti slowly passed, Luo Zheng leaned against a large tree and dozed off, letting his body relax while he thought through the attack plan for the upcoming battle. In a half-conscious state, he felt soone approaching. Turning his head, he saw it was Shi Qingshan and asked in a soft voice, "Do you need ?"
"Mhm, there's only half an hour left. How shall we fight this battle?" Shi Qingshan asked in a low voice, "We have roughly the sa number of n as the enemy, but our brothers are better trained. The difficulty isn't great. How about a three-sided encirclent?"
