Everyone enjoyed the dinner imnsely, and after our fill of food and drink, we all sat down to rest and chatted about all sorts of things. I really loved the warmth of being with family. Suddenly, soone knocked on the door. I turned to look at my father with surprise, and even Luo Hu had no idea who it could be. My younger sister stood up and said, "Who could it be at this hour? I'll go take a look." She then headed for the door.
Upon opening the door, my sister looked at the visitor and said with astonishnt, "It's you? What's the matter?"
"Uh, I'm looking for your brother," a polite male voice rang out at the doorway.
"Brother, soone's looking for you," said my sister, puzzled as she looked at the visitor, a slight frown on her brow. However, she didn't stop him and instead stepped aside to let the person in.
I turned my head in surprise and recognized the person coming in. Ghost Hand, who was beside , exclaid with a start, "It's you?"
"Mr. Gui is here too? Good timing," the newcor exclaid with shock. It was Brother Dao, the gang leader.
"Little Dao, what brings you here?" Luo Hu asked blandly.
"Hello, Uncle Luo. I've co to talk to your son about sothing," Little Dao responded politely. He didn't exhibit any of his usual brash attitude, and those who mix in the underworld generally have good judgnt. Little Dao knew that Luo Zheng had significant clout and that currying favor with him would be very beneficial, so he lowered his posture and dared not complain at all.
"Looking for ?" Luo Zheng asked in surprise.
"What could possibly concern you, kid? Speak up," Ghost Hand commanded, clearly displeased.
"Well?" Little Dao hesitated.
Lan Xue imdiately noticed Little Dao's unease, realizing that there was indeed sothing important – a matter that needed to be discussed away from Luo Zheng's family. She gave Luo Zheng a aningful look, and picking up on it, he got up and said, "There are too many people here. Co on, let's talk in my room at leisure."
"Alright." Little Dao quickly agreed and followed Luo Zheng to the bedroom. After closing the door and making sure Luo Zheng had seated himself on the bed, Little Dao took a seat on a stool, lowered his voice, and said, "Mr. Luo, I happened to witness that awe-inspiring mont of yours at the bank and only then knew you had returned. I wouldn't have dared to disturb you, but a brother who supervises a bar for said he overheard two foreigners planning sothing. He couldn't understand much as it was in English, but he heard your na repeatedly. I felt sothing was amiss, especially considering soone wants to kill you, so I hurried over to report to you."
"Eh?" Luo Zheng was deep in thought upon hearing this, closing his eyes slightly to conceal the frightening murderous aura within them. After a while, he suddenly asked, "How do you know my na?"
"My sister told . Don't worry, I haven't been reckless," Little Dao quickly explained.
"Hmm, you've shown a lot of respect for my family and have helped out a great deal. I'll rember this favor," Luo Zheng said calmly, though his expression grew grave. His eyes, filled with wisdom, twinkled as he asked after a while, "How recent is this? Do you have any information on those two n?"
"It just happened, maybe about half an hour ago. I rushed here as soon as I got wind of it. Those two n have probably left by now, but we have surveillance. We can get their pictures," Little Dao said quickly, feeling a sense of relief inside. As long as Luo Zheng acknowledged the favor, all his past efforts would not have been in vain. Having been mixed up in the underworld for many years, Little Dao understood all too well the importance of having a strong backing.
Luo Zheng, of course, would not get too closely involved with the other party, but it wasn't in his nature to rebuff soone who ca to him with good intentions, especially since that person had provided such important information. After so thought, he said, "Leave the address and go back first. I'll bring Captain Shi Feng from the city bureau's serious case squad over to your place later. He's soone you should et. Mixing in the underworld isn't a long-term strategy, so if you can contribute to the country, that would offer you a future."
"Yes, thank you, Mr. Luo." Little Dao had been waiting for this opportunity. Upon hearing Luo Zheng's arrangents, he was overjoyed and moved, saying, "Who wouldn't want a better future? Not many get into this life willingly; most are forced into it by various circumstances. Of course, that's no excuse. Thank you, Mr. Luo, for giving a chance. I'll have my brothers watch over your family around the clock, and we won't let anyone hurt them."
"Alright, you can go now," Luo Zheng said, content to have gained that assurance. After all, he was often away from ho, and it was necessary to have soone keep an eye on his family. It wouldn't be feasible to have National Blade assign protection, nor could the police provide round-the-clock security. Although Little Dao's identity was sensitive, he was the ideal choice.
With a joyous heart, Little Dao left. Luo Zheng then told Luo Hu, "Dad, I have so things to take care of, so you guys go ahead and sleep tonight; don't wait up for ." He then gave Lan Xue and Ghost Hand a look.
The two knew sothing was up but did not inquire further. After bidding farewell to Luo Zheng's parents, they got up and left. Luo Hu and his wife also realized sothing was amiss but rely urged Luo Zheng to be careful.
Once everyone had taken the elevator downstairs and gotten into Lan Xue's car, Ghost Hand, familiar with the city's roads, took the driver's seat. Lan Xue looked at Luo Zheng curiously, and he recounted the entire report from Little Dao, concluding, "Those two could very likely be Reincarnation Killers. We must eliminate them first. The city bureau's serious case squad might be of help, and I'll call Shi Feng to co with to see. I wonder what assistance we can get from the Intelligence Team?"
"National Blade is the nation's edge for external affairs, not for internal use. Internal intelligence is provided by the police and national security systems. Going to Shi Feng is a good idea; let's settle on that for now and see how things go," Lan Xue replied thoughtfully.
Ghost Hand, still unaware of the full story, looked at Luo Zheng in surprise. Luo Zheng recounted the day's events, leaving Ghost Hand dumbfounded as he cursed, "Those bastards really dare to make a move, even pulling guns in broad daylight. No question about it, we have to take them down. You too, brother—for not involving in such fun stuff. Next ti, you can't leave out," he said, starting up the car.
The car quickly left the parking lot and rged onto the main road towards the city bureau. On the way, Luo Zheng continued to ponder. After Lan Xue reported the situation to Captain Wu and spoke in a low voice, she said, "As long as we have photos and since they're foreigners, the targets should be easy to find. But I'm worried there might be more than one."
"Yes, I have the sa concern. Regardless, we'll take out these two targets first and then proceed with our plan in a few days," Luo Zheng mused.
"What plan? Captain, Deputy Captain, you can't just leave us grunts out of the loop, now. If there's sothing fun, you have to include us," Ghost Hand, sensing sothing big was afoot after months of quiet, was eager to jump back into the fray. Excited by the prospect of action, he quickly spoke up.
"We can't do without you guys on this. We'll fill you in once things are confird. Drive faster," Lan Xue said softly.
"You got it," Ghost Hand replied, laughing cheerfully.
