Two months ago, while at the base, the spy combat instructor had taught Luo Zheng about a type of assassin who relies on breeding poisonous creatures to carry out assassinations, for instance, venomous snakes, scorpions, and spiders, and so on. After all, the law does not stipulate that the keepers of venomous creatures should lose their lives if those creatures kill soone. Besides, who would suspect the breeder? Therefore, assassinations by venomous creatures are invisible and unpredictable. For this reason, Luo Zheng had been particularly struck by this thod and had not expected to encounter it himself.
It was evident that this venomous snake had been controlled by soone; its target was clear, its purpose definite. After slithering in to scope out the room, it suddenly thrust forward, shooting into the room with a swoosh, landing on the floor silently. Luo Zheng was startled and, without waiting for the snake to make a move, he decisively attacked, stepping over with an agile movent and crushing the snake's head under his foot.
The snake instinctively coiled up, its one-ter-long body instantly wrapping around Luo Zheng's calf, attempting to constrict him. Luo Zheng wasn't one to allow his adversary ti to counterattack. He pressed his foot down hard, crushing the snake's head and then grabbed its tail, forcefully tearing it apart, all the while breaking the snake's spine.
With its spine broken, the snake's constricting power weakened, and it quickly lost the strength to resist. After dealing with the snake, Luo Zheng suddenly sensed soone climbing in from outside. He pricked up his ears to listen and, sure enough, he heard it. An idea struck him; he threw the snake onto the bed's pillow, swiftly hid in a corner, and clenched the dining knife in his hand.
Soon, Luo Zheng noticed a figure appearing at the window, he held his breath and braced himself.
Before long, a head erged and, vaguely seeing the snake on the bed, thought the snake had succeeded. The figure snorted disdainfully, turned its head, and was about to leave. Luo Zheng didn't know how the person had reached his window since outside there was just the ship's hull, but now wasn't the ti to think about that.
"Whoosh!" Luo Zheng, angered by these vile people who not only pursued him onto the cruise ship but also resorted to the despicable thod of using a venomous snake, threw the knife with all his might. The dining knife sped through the air like lightning, drawing a white streak and instantly went into the intruder's throat.
The incident occurred unexpectedly, the person was too careless, or perhaps too trusting in the snake. Dying, the person never imagined not only had Luo Zheng survived, but he was also hiding right beside them. The body tumbled down, secured by a rope as thick as a thumb at the waist. Luo Zheng rushed to the window, ready to peer out and see from which floor the assassin had co down.
At that mont, the assassin's body suddenly plumted into the sea and was instantly engulfed by the rolling white waves.
Luo Zheng didn't know who he had killed. He swiftly threw the snake out of the window, and, thinking of Lan Xue, he dashed out the door, rapidly reaching Lan Xue's room, knocking urgently on her door. His face flushed with anxiety, he called out Lan Xue's na and, upon seeing her surprised expression as she opened the door, he couldn't help but relax and smile.
Lan Xue quickly realized sothing was wrong, pulled Luo Zheng inside, peered down the corridor to ensure there were no suspicious individuals, and hastily closed the door. She looked at Luo Zheng in surprise and asked, "What happened?"
Luo Zheng summarized the recent events and added, "I never imagined these bastards would stoop to such low ans and they were specifically targeting . It seems we'll have to be extrely careful from now on. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that they might use poison."
"Hmm," Lan Xue, concerned, examined Luo Zheng to make sure he wasn't injured. Once reassured, she let out a sigh of relief. Then, sothing occurred to her, and her cheeks flushed with a shy expression, she said, "It's late. Why don't you stay here? It's safer for two people to be together; those bastards might attack again. I'll give them a call to warn them."
"Sure thing." Luo Zheng said with a smile.
"Don't laugh, and don't have any improper thoughts," Lan Xue scolded bashfully, shooting Luo Zheng a glare. She called Ghost Hand and the other two separately to retell what had just happened, cautioning them to be extra careful. After hanging up, she discovered that Luo Zheng had already crawled into bed and fallen asleep, but his breathing was uneven, clearly pretending in order to avoid embarrassnt.
Thinking of this, Lan Xue smiled gratefully, deeply moved by Luo Zheng's thoughtfulness and considerateness. She lay down next to him, still clothed, her heart pounding wildly, her face burning hot as her mind raced with all sorts of thoughts. One mont she worried Luo Zheng might make an inappropriate move, and what she should do about it—reject him? Not reject him? The next mont she wondered why Luo Zheng hadn't made a move. Was she not attractive enough?
Caught between hope and fear, Lan Xue suddenly felt Luo Zheng grab her hand, her whole body stiffened, and a strange sensation surged through her, making her heart race again. She snapped her eyes open in panic and stared at Luo Zheng's back. After a while, realizing he made no further move, Lan Xue's heart gradually settled.
In that mont, Lan Xue understood that Luo Zheng did have feelings for her but was maintaining respect and restraint. Deeply touched, she gently embraced Luo Zheng from behind and slowly drifted off to sleep. She slept soundly and firmly, and in her dream, Lan Xue saw herself as Luo Zheng's bride, with red carpets, red balloons, and red ribbons. She wore a white wedding dress that stood out brilliantly against the red decorations. Luo Zheng approached her, his eyes brimming with love and affection. In that mont, Lan Xue felt she was the happiest person in the world.
Suddenly, a gunshot shattered the blissful wedding, and a group of fierce ard attackers stord in, firing wildly. Many people fell in pools of blood. Lan Xue was horrified and woke up with a start, only to find Luo Zheng calling out her na anxiously. She was montarily stunned, then gradually ca to her senses.
"Had a nightmare?" Luo Zheng asked with concern.
"Yes." Lan Xue said, her scared heart slowly calming down. She looked at the worried Luo Zheng and smiled bitterly. "It started as a beautiful dream, but turned into a nightmare."
"No worries, it's just a dream. Even if it was real, with here, I'd turn that nightmare back into a beautiful dream. It's just past seven in the morning; if you didn't sleep well, go back to sleep for a while," Luo Zheng reassured her with a smile.
"Yeah, I know. I'm so tired, I want to sleep a bit more," Lan Xue said bashfully, pulling the blanket over her head to cover herself, hiding under the covers as two lines of happy tears rolled down, a strong warmth flooding her heart. The feeling of being cared for was wonderful.
Hearing the sounds of washing in the bathroom, Lan Xue slowly lifted the blanket, exhaled deeply, and hurriedly got up, shouting, "Don't co out until I say so, I'm changing clothes."
"Okay," Luo Zheng was brushing his teeth and humd in response. Lan Xue quickly grabbed her clothes, slipped under the covers to change, her heart fluttering with embarrassnt. She worried about Luo Zheng appearing before her eyes, and this unusual sensation was sothing she had never experienced before. Lan Xue cursed herself inwardly as she anxiously changed her clothes, and asked, "What are we doing today?"
