"Da-da-da!" A burst of bullets whistled through the air, hitting the ocean, causing countless splashes. The sound of bullets hissing into the water under the moonlight seed like the harbingers of the Grim Reaper, swiftly hitting a large mass of Black Shadow that was aggressively advancing. The montum was halted, as the shadow plunged down towards the seabed, its giant tail lifted high and smacked fiercely against the surface, raising up a large wave.
"What on earth is that?" Luo Zheng exclaid, his face as grave as iron, fixating on the area where the Black Shadow had disappeared, not daring to let his guard down. Even the usually fearless Luo Zheng couldn't help feeling a sense of panic when faced with a mysterious and terrifying ocean creature. He felt unsteady, a hollow fear growing inside him.
Humans are better adapted to living on land; in the ocean, even with powerful abilities, unfamiliarity with combat tactics can be detrintal. Lan Xue also began to panic, her face an icy picture of deadly intent, saying, "I couldn't see it clearly, it moved too fast, we must leave this area quickly, and increase our speed." This last sentence was directed at Ghost Hand and the others.
Ghost Hand and the rest were also startled by the mysterious creature and paddled desperately.
"Thud!" Suddenly, there was a dull sound as sothing struck the speedboat from below. Fortunately, they had accelerated just before the impact; had they been slower, the boat might have been struck in the center and flipped over. The strike, hitting the boat's stern, inadvertently pushed the speedboat forward by several ters. Luo Zheng and Lan Xue, unsteady on their feet, quickly braced each other. They crouched down, still shaking fiercely, and had to grab onto the edge of the speedboat to steady themselves.
"It's a tiger head shark." Amidst the chaos, Lan Xue saw a huge Black Shadow erge from the sea, its gaping maw opening wide under the moonlight, revealing its nacing white teeth, emitting a suffocating air of horror. She couldn't help but shout, "This thing is ferocious, shoot its mouth!" As she spoke, she quickly opened fire.
Luo Zheng, not as familiar with sharks, heeded Lan Xue's instructions without hesitation and aid to shoot. After firing two shots, the gun was empty. He heard the clinking sound of Lan Xue's gun, now also out of bullets, and the tiger head shark charged fiercely forward, opening its jaws in an attempt to swallow the speedboat whole.
The speedboat was not small and was made of an iron structure, so there was no worry of it being torn apart, but the threat of impact was real. If the speedboat were to be flipped, everyone would beco appetizers for the tiger head shark. Thinking of becoming a shark's snack, anger surged within Luo Zheng. He swung up his AK47 rifle and smashed it towards the shark's gaping mouth, determined to knock out so of its teeth even in death.
"Swoosh!" The AK47 rifle, flung with hatred by Luo Zheng, flashed a dark gleam under the moonlight, moving at a high speed. The tiger head shark, sensing sothing was amiss, quickly closed its mouth, but it was too late. The AK47 rifle lodged inside the tiger head shark's oral cavity, stuck in its throat, incredibly uncomfortable.
The animal's instincts alerted the tiger head shark that sothing was wrong. Its head plunged into the sea, stirring up a wave and vanishing in an instant. All of this happened in the blink of an eye. Lan Xue, watching the whirlpool created as the shark sank into the depths, then looking at Luo Zheng, found it hard to believe what she had just witnessed.
Luo Zheng himself couldn't believe it either—had a creature weighing tons really fled? But regardless, this was good news. The imdiate priority was to leave the area quickly. He looked back to see they were close to the island and was overjoyed. Picking up a wooden plank, he started paddling, and Lan Xue hurried to do the sa.
Knowing that a life-or-death mont had arrived, none dared to rest; they exerted their full strength. While vigilantly watching their surroundings, the quiet ocean around them was as though nothing had ever happened. But everyone could feel the stillness before death and paddled desperately.
Soon, the speedboat drew even closer to the coast. Hearing the noise from the island behind, they knew everyone was landing ashore, and they heaved a sigh of relief. The sea remained calm without any terrifying creatures appearing, but still, no one dared to let their guard down until the speedboat was completely ashore. Only then did they fully relax.
Jumping off the speedboat, Luo Zheng saw several hundred people nearby, all soaking wet and shivering from the cold. The sea was very cold in winter, and it felt even colder after leaving the water. With a lack of dical supplies, catching a cold or fever could lead to serious trouble. He couldn't help but look ahead. In front of them was a mountain, several hundred ters tall, with trees growing on it. The sky was overcast, allowing only a vague outline to be seen.
"We must start a fire, or a lot of us could fall ill," Luo Zheng said with concern.
"Yeah, we need to warm ourselves by a fire. Our clothes are all soaked; we could get sick," Lan Xue said with a worried face.
"And there's the issue of food. The cruise ship sank, and everyone was focused on escaping; no one brought anything. Surviving this long is already a miracle. Without dicine, food, or clean clothes to change into, for us, it's not too big a deal. But for them, these are fatal problems, especially for the elderly and children. It looks like we've got a heavy burden to bear," Luo Zheng comnted with a sigh. As a soldier, he knew he had to face all these challenges and help everyone, otherwise he would never find peace in life.
"Let's put off worrying about food for now; starting a fire is the top priority. Let's divide up the work and organize them to help gather combustible weeds and branches. I'm a woman, so it's more convenient for to step forward and stabilize their emotions," Lan Xue said, frowning deeply.
At this ti, having escaped the tornting ocean and landed on Shanghai Island, everyone's hearts slowly began to relax, yet fear also took hold, especially amongst those who had lost family mbers. Not everyone had escaped when the cruise ship sank, and many had been killed during the pirates' attack. The cries of many filled the air, faces etched with grief.
Luo Zheng, watching the mournful crowd, knew that this was the mont when they needed a strong figure to step forward and lead them through this crisis. Otherwise, they would be like scattered sand, with even less chance of survival. With that thought, Luo Zheng stepped forward and shouted, "Everybody listen to ! Our troubles aren't over yet. We must unite to overco these difficulties. Follow my orders!"
All eyes were heavy as they watched Luo Zheng, unsure what to do. Luo Zheng continued, "Let's get moving and gather everything that can burn. We need fire to survive."
Hearing this sensible advice, soone called out, "But we've been soaked for so long, even if we had lighters, they wouldn't work. How will we start a fire?"
"We don't stop living just because we don't have lighters," Luo Zheng snapped, glaring at the person. Noting that the person wasn't trying to cause trouble, he lowered his head and decided to let it go, and continued shouting, "Looking for flammable materials will get our bodies moving and generate heat to keep us from getting sick for now. I'll take care of starting the fire. Let's go, place everything over there," Luo Zheng directed, pointing to a depression in the open space nearby.
Everyone knew Luo Zheng was right. Moving was key to fighting off the cold. Without fire, their chances of survival were slim, so they all sprang into action. Despite this, there lingered an air of hopelessness.
