In Luo Zheng's plan, taking the old man hostage was ant to draw the police over. The police couldn't easily approach the iron gate. To take a cop hostage, he had to get one to the gate to shorten the distance. The only way was to use hardcover books. Luo Zheng's calculations were very precise. Ordinary books had no effect when hitting the ankle bone, but hardcovers were different; a two or three-pound book, when struck with all his strength, hit like a brick. Coupled with the suddenness of the attack, the police leader was caught off guard, leaning forward and slamming into the iron gate.
In that rare mont, as quick as lightning, Luo Zheng swiftly grabbed the police leader's throat, releasing his grip on the old man, freeing his hands. He quickly disard the cop of his service pistol. With the gun in hand, Luo Zheng's confidence surged as he pressed the barrel to the officer's temple and coldly stared at the police, who were about to rush forward, and shouted, "Back off."
This all happened too suddenly, too quickly for anyone to comprehend. The policen coldly watched the scene, not daring to make a move. The leader struggled desperately but found Luo Zheng's arm unyielding like the grip of iron tongs and with the threat of the gun, feared provoking Luo Zheng into rash action, so he motioned for the police not to move and asked coldly, "What do you want?"
"I want to leave this place," Luo Zheng demanded coldly.
"That's impossible. You could kill , but you will absolutely not be released," the police leader firmly rejected without a mont's hesitation and with a tone that brooked no negotiation.
Luo Zheng knew this was a red line not to be crossed. The reason he made such a demand was rely to start high, as cover for his real requests. He pressed the gun harder against the officer's temple, preparing to speak, when the incarcerated criminals, seeing Luo Zheng holding a cop hostage, beca even crazier, all yelling, "Kill him, shoot, kill him!"
The prisoners, in awe of Luo Zheng's bold move and wishing for chaos, shouted loudly and banged on the iron gates. The uncontrollable scene and the thunderous banging were shocking. The police knew the prisoners were locked up and couldn't get out, but they felt the danger and were deeply anxious.
"All of you back off, or I'll shoot. Bring your warden," Luo Zheng shouted coldly and loudly.
The warden, who was in a eting, changed color upon hearing Luo Zheng was causing trouble. His narrow, squinted eyes glittered as he quickly ordered the police to maintain order and suppress the rowdy inmates. Then he led a team to Cell Block 13.
Seeing the held police leader, the warden didn't understand how the hostage situation had occurred. After asking a few questions and glancing at the thick books on the floor, he grew furious, pondering that they could no longer provide such hardcover books—if everyone followed suit, order here would be utterly destroyed. He strode to the door, faced Luo Zheng with an icy glare, and shouted, "Release him, or I'll kill you."
"Co on then, shoot if you dare," Luo Zheng scoffed carelessly. "Killing won't be that easy. You better prepare a few body bags. Can you take that responsibility? How will you explain the truth behind a cop's death? If this gets traced back from the top, how will you explain my identity?"
"You?" The warden hadn't expected Luo Zheng to be not only fierce but also shrewd, guessing many key points. He was difficult to handle, no wonder Song Yan had sent him here. This was like a hot potato; whoever received him would be unlucky. He found himself in a difficult position, his expression shifting, and anger flashing ominously in his narrowed eyes.
Luo Zheng keenly perceived the fluctuating emotions of the prison warden. Days of psychological study had not been in vain—he knew his previous conjectures were correct. The warden dared to kill him, but absolutely did not dare to take the risk of killing him. That was enough. With a cold face, he pressed the gun into the mouth of the police team leader and bellowed, "Co on, if you have the guts, shoot! Let's all go down together, co on."
At this stage of the event, to seize the initiative in the negotiation, the best approach was to feign a state of extre ferocity, creating fear among the police of provoking him and acknowledging his true readiness to kill. Luo Zheng radiated a terrifying murderous aura, one cultivated through the lives of countless enemies, tangible as though material, causing the hearts of the police to seize with panic as they looked towards the prison warden uncertainly.
The warden also recognized that Luo Zheng was a ruthless killer who did not care about taking lives. Angering Luo Zheng ant certain doom for the police team leader, and he, the warden, would be branded with the cri of failing to save a life. Once this incident blew up, his secret dealings to grant favors for depositors would co to light. As long as it remained unexposed, it was just a matter of money-making for everyone, but once exposed, it would beco a big issue and his position would be jeopardized.
With these thoughts, the warden's killing intent grew even colder. He figured he'd placate the situation for now and deal with the culprit later. Without crushing this perverse trend, the prison's order would fall into chaos. After settling his resolve, the warden stared coldly at Luo Zheng and demanded, "What do you want?"
"Let go," Luo Zheng said coldly.
"That's impossible," the warden replied with a chill in his voice, refusing without hesitation.
Of course, Luo Zheng knew it was impossible—it was rely a negotiating tactic. First, let the other side refuse, then the next demands would be simpler. He looked coldly at the warden, and from the corner of his eye, he noticed the surrounding prisoners had been suppressed. They were watching this scene quietly, eyes bulging with excitent, respecting Luo Zheng for daring to negotiate with the police and the warden, and eager to see how he would resolve the situation.
By taking a police officer hostage and offending the warden, no matter which charge was pressed, it was a death sentence. Even if not death, it would result in severe punishnt. Everyone was perplexed by what Luo Zheng really wanted to do. Even the warden failed to understand Luo Zheng's true intentions. The situation seed like a dead end. How would he resolve it? The warden could not help but stare intently at Luo Zheng and burst out, "What on earth do you want to do?"
"What do you think?" Luo Zheng retorted coldly, without a trace of worry or panic. Suddenly, he spotted a police officer getting restless, attempting to rush over to rescue his leader, whispering to his peers and tapping their shoulders. The one being tapped quickly aid his gun at Luo Zheng's head and feet. Though Luo Zheng knew he was shielded by the lead officer's body, he still moved slightly to one side.
"Bang!" Luo Zheng suddenly fired the gun. The bullet, carrying Luo Zheng's rage, whistled through the air and struck the officer's shoulder. To prevent the situation from spiraling out of control, Luo Zheng had to choose a non-fatal area to shoot.
The incident was abrupt. The officer had no ti to dodge. Shot in the shoulder, he fell to the ground, causing chaos in the corridor. Everyone aid their guns at Luo Zheng, ready to fire, but they saw Luo Zheng retract the gun-holding hand and press it against the back of the team leader's head. With a cold, furious roar, he threatened, "Anyone who dares to ss around goes down with us!" His tone was harsh, chilling to the bone.
