Little Sister didn't know how deep Luo Zheng's and Lan Xue's feelings were for each other, after speaking, she anxiously looked at Lan Xue, fearing that Lan Xue would turn around and leave. However, she saw that Lan Xue only smiled faintly, didn't take the situation to heart, and instead looked Luo Zheng up and down to make sure he wasn't injured before letting out a sigh of relief. She lowered her voice and said, "The police have gone after those people. Song Gu has also been taken to the hospital. I'll handle the rest."
"Okay," Luo Zheng responded, then turned to Little Sister, thought for a mont, and said, "Little Sister, you go back first. I'll wait here a bit longer. Tell Dad and Mom that I'll be ho for dinner and not to ntion anything about what happened here."
"Oh, be careful," Little Sister, ever so clever, naturally saw that Luo Zheng didn't want her to get involved in this ss. Staying would only be a burden. She agreed, said goodbye to Lan Xue, and left first.
Lan Xue stepped aside and made a phone call to Wu Jin, explaining the situation before hanging up. The two of them then waited in the hallway. Regardless of anything else, Song Yun had taken a bullet for Luo Zheng. Although it was sowhat unnecessary, it was a kind gesture, and it would have been improper to just walk away. After so small talk, several people hurriedly ran down the corridor.
"It's Song Yun's parents," Lan Xue whispered, standing up.
Luo Zheng didn't know the newcors and remained seated. A richly dressed woman at the front, with a cold face, approached Luo Zheng, raised her hand, and attempted to slap him. Luo Zheng, with his sharp reflexes, dodged the blow and beca imdiately enraged. Lan Xue, seeing the woman suddenly try to hit soone, was also incensed and with one palm strike sent the woman flying several ters away, causing her to bleed from the corner of her mouth and turning her face instantly pale.
"Song Tao, control your woman," Lan Xue turned to look at the middle-aged man at the front, her face showing a deadly seriousness as she said coldly, "If there's a next ti, don't bla for not holding back."
"You guys?" Song Tao's face turned an iron shade of blue. His wife initiating a fight was indeed wrong, but he hadn't expected Lan Xue's reaction to be so violent, to the point of injuring his wife. He was furious, but Song Tao was very clear that, in terms of tactics, he was not inferior to the two people in front of him, but in terms of force, even ten together wouldn't suffice.
"You useless thing, she hit , and you don't even let out a single fart?" The richly dressed woman got up, leaning against the wall, and looked at Lan Xue with cold, angry eyes. She was filled with rage but also wary of Lan Xue's capabilities, her arrogance from earlier gone.
"Let's go, no need to bother with these uncultured people," Luo Zheng rubbed his face, putting on an air of magnanimity, and said, since the Song family had arrived, there was no need for him to stay any longer.
"That might be best," Lan Xue, hearing what Luo Zheng said, was also not inclined to stay any longer and followed him toward the entrance.
"Stop right there," the richly dressed woman shouted emotionally. She looked at the bodyguards who ca with her, her face flushed with sha and anger. She ordered, "What do I feed you for? Aren't you going to take action? If soone dies, it's on ."
The bodyguards did not move but instead looked to Song Tao. Song Tao had a dark look as he glanced at the woman, then turned and caught up with Luo Zheng, saying in a low voice, "Let's talk sowhere."
Luo Zheng was taken aback and regarded Song Tao warily, making a mocking sneer, "What is there to talk about between you and ?"
"Better to resolve enmity than to prolong it, wouldn't you agree? My daughter took a bullet for you; that's a good connection. So, what will it be, continue fighting or negotiate?" Song Tao continued grimly, with an underlying tone of threat.
"As you wish," Luo Zheng said disdainfully, turning and walking outside.
Lan Xue grabbed Luo Zheng and said to Song Tao with a cold voice, "Ti, place."
"There's a café opposite the hospital. You go first, I'll follow shortly," Song Tao responded coldly.
Without saying anything more, Lan Xue took Luo Zheng and they walked towards the outside. On the way, Lan Xue lowered her voice and said, "It must be the National Chairman putting pressure on the Song family. They seem to be struggling to cope and want to negotiate, but I think the negotiation is just a front, a delaying tactic. Once the timing is right, they will still make a move against us."
"Why are you willing to talk with them?" Luo Zheng asked curiously.
"My grandfather told that they also need ti to prepare. The fact that the Song family has taken the initiative to propose negotiations is exactly what we can use to our advantage. Don't say anything for a while; let's see what they are up to before we decide," whispered Lan Xue.
Understanding the plan, Luo Zheng nodded. They arrived at the café across the street, took a booth, and ordered two cups of coffee. It was not long before Song Tao rushed over alone, sat down opposite them with a terrible expression on his face, and said coldly, "Let's be frank here. You and I have had our differences, but they were nothing serious. Now with the incident involving Song Yun, I hope to resolve and treat it as if nothing happened before. What do you think?"
"You speak as if it's so easy. Just reconcile because you say so? That bastard Song Gu dared to harm my little sister, harassed her relentlessly until she was afraid to even step outside. How do you account for that?" Luo Zheng said with a cold laugh.
"One million," Song Tao said coldly, exuding a decisive ruthlessness.
Luo Zheng was startled and looked at Song Tao with suspicion; he had to admit that the guy had quite the presence, a skilled negotiator, hard to deal with because he ca on so strong. Lan Xue suddenly sneered beside him, "Our close brush with death, courtesy of the Song family, how do we settle that account?"
"Ten million, to clear all grievances. How about that?" said Song Tao coldly. Ten million was a huge sum for many, but for the Song family, it was but a drop in the bucket.
Luo Zheng didn't care about the money, and upon thinking of Mr. Li needing ti, he couldn't help but hesitate. Lan Xue wasn't short on cash either, such money wasn't tempting to her. Yet if they refused, the negotiations would break down. It was no issue if the deadly strife continued, but it would be a loss if they failed to secure ti for her grandfather. After pondering, she nodded.
Taking the money and buying ti: where else could they find such a deal? As for the future, any necessary ruthless acts would not be hesitated upon. Seeing that he had quickly concluded the negotiation with a few words, Song Tao sneered, promptly took out a checkbook from his inner pocket, filled out a cashier's check then and there, tore it off, placed it on the table, and walked away briskly.
Luo Zheng did not imdiately take the money, but looked at the departing Song Tao with suspicion. He felt certain there was a conspiracy at play but couldn't figure out what it was. He looked at Lan Xue, who also obviously knew it was not that simple. Considering the Song family's overbearing nature and propensity for holding grudges, it made no sense for them to back down. She thought for a mont, then said, "Whatever it is, let's take the money and talk later. It's compensation for what happened before. We'll deal with the future as it cos. Everybody needs ti; it's actually not good to burn our bridges at this point, don't you think?"
"That makes sense," Luo Zheng concluded after a mont of thought, pushing the check toward Lan Xue, "You take it."
"You should keep it. Buy a house with it. Soday when I co to visit your family, I can't very well stay in a rented place, right?" Lan Xue said with a smile, her face blushing like a ripe apple, incredibly tempting.
