If the opponent were just so well-born layabout, Luo Zheng would simply give him a lesson and be done with it, but since the guy claid to be from the Song family of Beijing, the situation was different. Three months of prison life had left Luo Zheng with a bellyful of rage and nowhere to vent it, so when soone from the Song family ca knocking at his door, he couldn't help but strike hard. He was already being rciful by not going for the kill. Upon hearing what the man said, Luo Zheng let out a cold laugh and spoke, "Better worry about yourself. This little bastard here is injured, his leg is completely useless now. You fail to protect him, do you think the Song family will let you off the hook? If I were you, I'd find a place to hide right away—the farther, the better."
The two n looked at each other, thinking of the Song family's usual modus operandi and the various ans at their disposal; they beca panicked. With Song Gu injured, it didn't matter what happened to Luo Zheng—there was no escaping the bla for their negligence. Instead of staying, it'd be better to run for their lives. Exchanging another knowing glance, the two n turned and ran off in tacit agreent.
"Huh?" Luo Zheng was surprised to see the two actually running away, and then he chuckled. It seed the Song family was falling apart; this was for the better.
Just then, police cars rushed over, and the campus security charged as well, surrounding Luo Zheng. The police officers who got out of the cars were startled to recognize Luo Zheng—they had seen him during several operations and knew he was not one to be trifled with. They quickly reported in and requested backup while cautiously approaching him and asking, "Brother, stay calm, put down the gun. What happened here?"
Luo Zheng jamd the gun into Song Gu's hands and slowly stood up, shrugging nonchalantly as he said, "This guy tried to shoot . He accidentally hurt himself while we were struggling. You can't handle this—let your superior co."
"I've already reported it. Please, don't do anything rash, don't make this difficult for ," the police officer warned, eying Luo Zheng cautiously.
At that mont, three cars screeched to a halt nearby, and over a dozen black-clad n got out. These n were as agile as cheetahs as they rushed forward. Soone even knocked a police officer to the ground. Luo Zheng's face paled as he quickly dodged the gun in Song Gu's hand and fired at the black-clad n.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Three gunshots rang out, the bullets landing right in front of the n as a clear warning.
The n halted, watching Luo Zheng with suspicion, their expressions hungry and murderous like wolves. Luo Zheng eyed this group with a sense of familiarity, feeling as though he'd encountered them before. He positioned Lan Xue behind him and watched the group with icy vigilance.
"Huh?" Lan Xue suddenly let out a soft exclamation, pointing at soone who had just gotten out of one of the cars.
Looking up, Luo Zheng saw it was Song Yun. It had been a long ti since he'd seen her; she'd grown even more mature, wearing white-rimd, gold-wire glasses that added an intellectual charm to her appearance. Song Yun hurried over, and Luo Zheng, not expecting her to appear, turned cold and whispered, "Quick, take the chance before a fight breaks out and hide in the crowd. Go ho first. I'll actually be freer to act without you being here, nothing will happen to ."
"Okay, be careful," Lan Xue replied, understanding that she'd be a liability if a real fight occurred. With no fuss, she quickly backed away. The black-clad n, seeing Luo Zheng stationary, didn't bother with Lan Xue and stood facing off against him, their hands slowly reaching inside their suits as the murderous intent soared.
Luo Zheng, knowing that the n were thinking of drawing their guns, aid at Song Gu and sternly commanded, "Better not move."
Seeing Luo Zheng threatening them with Song Gu, everyone froze, not daring to make a move. At that mont, Song Yun ran over in a hurry. Seeing the situation on the ground, her expression changed drastically. Her eyes lingered on Song Gu's thigh wound for a second before turning to Luo Zheng, asking urgently, "What on earth happened here?"
"Do we even need to talk about it? A bunch of spoiled rich kids bullying others because of their status, and now they've gotten a taste of their own dicine. It's a common trope." Luo Zheng sneered, seeing no sign of bla from Song Yun, he didn't add any sarcastic remarks.
Song Yun cast an anxious glance at Luo Zheng and explained, "When I saw them making a move, I thought they were going to bully soone again, so I ca to stop them. I didn't expect it to be you involved. They got what they deserved, but could you tell exactly what happened? I need to coordinate a response. Firing a gun in public is bad after all, and we need to provide an explanation to society. Don't worry, I won't let you be on the losing end."
"Huh?" Luo Zheng looked at Song Yun in surprise, feeling like she was a completely different person from before, both in speech and action. He couldn't help but smile bitterly. With Song Yun arriving, the fight wasn't going to continue, so he flipped the handgun around and handed it to her, "You can find out the specifics by reviewing the surveillance footage around here. For your sake, I'll let it go this ti. Tell your elders it's best they don't ss with again."
"Bang! Bang!" Suddenly, two gunshots rang out.
Song Yun, who had gone to borrow the gun, saw soone aiming at Luo Zheng and was startled, throwing herself fearlessly in front of him. The bullet hit Song Yun's back, blood spattered, and Luo Zheng was shocked, holding Song Yun whose body had gone limp. He couldn't believe those people actually fired shots, much less that Song Yun took a bullet for him.
"Ah—" Luo Zheng roared angrily, his gaze cold as he looked at the n in black ahead, like an enraged Wolf King with towering fury in his eyes. Seeing that it was Song Yun who was hit, the n in black panicked, exchanged glances, turned around, got into their cars, and sped off.
Luo Zheng knew this wasn't the ti to seek accountability. He carried Song Yun swiftly to the police car, laid her in the back seat, and seeing his younger sister approaching, quickly signaled her to get in the car and help press down on the wound to stop the bleeding. His face was ashen as he jumped into the driver's seat and drove off quickly, turning on the siren when a car blocked the way.
The wailing siren echoed as cars and pedestrians scrambled out of the way. Luo Zheng sat, face grim and silent. His sister tried several tis to speak up, but seeing Luo Zheng's furious deanor, she swallowed back her words, sighed, and, feeling unexpectedly the gravity of the situation, quietly took out her phone to send a ssage to Lan Xue.
All the way, Luo Zheng sat in silence, unable to understand why Song Yun would take a bullet for him. Before he knew it, they arrived at the entrance of a hospital. He parked the car and rushed inside with Song Yun in his arms, his brow furrowed with a ferocious expression, causing many people around to step aside.
Soon, the ergency room doctors rushed out, pushing a gurney and taking Song Yun into the resuscitation room. Luo Zheng waited at the door, sitting on a bench in the hallway with a solemn expression, his head bowed in thought. His sister couldn't help but ask, "Brother, don't scare , okay? How is this going to end up?"
"It's okay, don't worry. I'm here, nothing will happen," Luo Zheng said with a reassuring smile.
"I've inford Sister-in-law," his sister said softly.
"Good, don't worry anymore," Luo Zheng comforted her. Seeing Lan Xue hurrying over from outside, he stood up to greet her. Without waiting for Lan Xue to ask, he briefly explained what had happened. Worried Lan Xue might misunderstand, his sister added a few words on the side, and finally said, "Sister-in-law, my brother and that woman have nothing going on. It was her who threw herself in front of him."
