"It's been calculated, from our current position to the no-man's land it's about a two-day journey. If we travel throughout the night, we can get there in two days and one night. Once we reach the no-man's land, the Arctic Bear Military can't deploy troops on a large scale for further pursuit. Only small Special Forces units will be left, and their actions would depend on your tactics," Wu Jin's voice echoed through the satellite phone on speaker mode, which everyone clearly heard, their faces lighting up with hope as arriving a day earlier ant one less day of danger.
After the route was set, Wu Jin inquired whether to dispatch Special Forces to rendezvous. It would take them two or three days to arrive at no-man's land; however, Luo Zheng declined the offer, reasoning that once they reached no-man's land, as long as there was no large-scale encirclent by Arctic Bear troops, there would always be a way to evacuate, and having Special Forces rush there might just beco an additional burden.
Understanding the situation, Wu Jin didn't persist any further. He advised everyone to be careful and to maintain contact with headquarters at all tis. After hanging up, he dismantled the phone battery. Luo Zheng, with a frown, spoke softly, "We talked for too long just now; there's a chance the signal was detected by Arctic Bear surveillance. This place might already be compromised; we need to leave as soon as possible."
Realizing the urgency, everyone quickly packed up their belongings. Luo Zheng took out the GPS, locked in their route, and they dashed out of the woods, sprinting forward into an area overgrown with low grass, devoid of thorny bushes or tall trees—no cover for concealnt. They were exposed under the satellite's watch, but the absence of bushes ant their marching speed was faster.
In less than an hour, an unmanned reconnaissance drone appeared overhead. Everyone knew they were discovered and had no choice but to pick up the pace. During the rapid march, Lan Xue voiced her concerns, "Given the Arctic Bear's mobility and strike capability, we can expect helicopters or fighter jets to arrive here within half an hour."
Luo Zheng was aware of Lan Xue's worries. He looked up at the surrounding mountain terrain, barren and exposed, offering no cover from the drone and satellite surveillance unless they lay flat on the ground. They were wearing mountain and jungle two-use digital camouflage combat suits which were highly effective. The "pixel" pattern, designed with digital dots, utilized principles of visual psychology to blend in with various environntal backgrounds. Their outfits made them resemble leaves, shattered rocks, or fine sand, rging seamlessly with their surroundings and making it difficult for the enemy to isolate specific "images" from the "natural background." These suits were particularly effective in evading infrared detection and visibility through Night Vision Goggles.
However, lying down ant wasting ti, waiting for death, especially as Arctic Bear soldiers could dispatch forces at any mont. As they hesitated, suddenly, everyone heard a distant rumbling from the sky behind them, causing their faces to turn pale as they imdiately stopped and Luo Zheng shouted, "Get down, hide!"
Everyone lay down, covering themselves with their camouflage suits, nervously watching the sky ahead. A small black dot appeared in their view. Luo Zheng quickly scanned the surrounding terrain and spotted Stone Mountain not far away. Overjoyed, he quickly said, "Quick, to Stone Mountain for cover!"
Turning their heads, they saw Stone Mountain, composed of many huge bizarre rocks, covering a large area, providing relatively safer hiding spots. Understanding, they rushed towards it. In the throes of life and death, everyone unleashed unprecedented speeds, loudly encouraging themselves and their comrades to boost morale and energize.
Fortunately, Stone Mountain was not far, and they charged into it in one fell swoop. Before they could find proper hiding spots, an ard transport helicopter roared in, unleashing a fierce barrage on Stone Mountain. The mounted machine guns roared at six thousand rounds per minute, causing everyone's faces to turn pale as they scrambled under nearby massive rocks, curling up to minimize their exposure to the attacking surfaces while tightly covering their ears to reduce the brain agitation from the whizzing bullets.
Those who haven't stayed under intense bullet fire can't understand the thrill of it. Bullets blitz through like a raging storm, each one shrieking fiercely, their screams almost simultaneous. The sounds overlap, forming a sonic attack that could, at its mildest, cause a nervous breakdown, driving one out of cover to be eventually struck by bullets, and at its worst, cause bleeding from every orifice.
Luo Zheng and the others knew the severity, desperately covering their ears to lessen the impact of the sonic attack while they agape scread hysterically, a roar that could mitigate the wave's effect, keeping their minds clear and also inspiring each other.
"Ah—" Several people hid under a huge rock, roaring like fierce prehistoric beasts, their murderous aura soaring into the sky and perating the air, which only enraged the helicopter crew even more, prompting them to continue their barrage. The dense bullets struck the huge rock, sparking and ricocheting, so of which hit everyone. Fortunately, they wore specially made Bullet-Resistant Vests, so the bullets didn't penetrate, but they were still painfully unbearable.
"We can't keep taking hits like this," Luo Zheng thought to himself, continuing to howl loudly, his eyes bloodshot and his face full of rage. He quickly moved forward to take cover under an even bigger rock, his frustration ready to explode, roaring, Luo Zheng took deep breaths, striving to keep himself alert.
The relentless bullets seed never to stop, many rocks exploded into fragnts, the debris flying everywhere, striking them painfully. They had no chance to retaliate and cautiously moved so nearby rocks to fortify their cover and secure their safety.
"Boom!" A loud explosion erupted as the ard transport helicopter unleashed a rocket, striking a big rock and shattering it. Everyone was startled by the blast, aware that the transport helicopter had been modified to carry rockets. With the overpowering whizzing of continuous gunfire, effective communication was impossible, leaving everyone extrely anxious as they searched for new places to hide to avoid being targeted.
"We must counterattack!" Luo Zheng's expression turned cold as ice, his eyes, like eons-old permafrost, swirled with murderous intent. His heart surged with towering rage. He shouted explosively and burst out of cover like a wounded tiger, raising his hand and firing blindly into the sky.
The shot, guided by instinct rather than aim, contained all of Luo Zheng's spirit, anger, and the bullet as well, all rged into the steel gun in his hand. The gun, as if sentient, fired a sniper bullet that, seemingly aware of Luo Zheng's fury, ferociously lunged forward, tearing through the void with a bizarre surge of energy.
"Pop!" The bullet instantly burrowed into the brow of the machine gunner, a headshot.
The savage machine gunfire suddenly ceased. Luo Zheng, having just hidden in a new spot, saw this and burst with joy. Without hesitation, he charged out of cover, bellowing, "Kill!" He aid at the hovering ard helicopter, his icy gaze bursting with terrifying murderous intent, his entire being afire with the will to fight, his montum skyrocketing.
