The Snow Bear Special Forces excelled in snow warfare, and the truth of this statent was proven as about ten people vanished into thin air in an ambush without even a chance to fire their guns. If Luo Zheng had not been hidden at the windward position, he would not have noticed the enemy tactically maneuvering to the rear; once their tactic succeeded, who would die was uncertain. After the surprise attack was successful, Luo Zheng lost his opportunity to strike and was put on the defensive.
Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle had barely spotted an opportunity to retaliate, but still found no chance to strike, which spoke to the formidable strength of the Snow Bear forces. However, Luo Zheng still saw a glimr of hope for victory – seize the initiative. If the enemy does not move, neither do I; if the enemy moves, I move first. Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle were both excellent snipers; as long as they had the chance, they would definitely succeed. Even if there was no opportunity, by remaining hidden, they could still pose a significant deterrent.
Once more, silence returned to the Ice and Snow Plateau, as if nothing had happened monts before. Luo Zheng looked up at the sun and smiled confidently, his smile relaxed. Regardless, they had already eliminated three targets. If Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle were given the chance, they could take out two more, one for each. Even in death, they wouldn't go down alone.
A life for a life, taking down tough mbers of the Snow Bear Special Forces felt worthwhile to Luo Zheng; he felt relaxed, and his muscles loosened. This relaxation allowed Luo Zheng's mind to unwind as well, making his thoughts much quicker. Looking around, thick snow covered everything except for this rock; there was nowhere else to hide. How to counterattack was not straightforward. What to do?
Suddenly, Luo Zheng heard the sound of a sniper rifle and tensed up, asking through his headset, "What's the situation?"
No one answered imdiately, and Luo Zheng grew anxious. After a while, a breathless voice ca through, sounding like Mountain Eagle. Luo Zheng, startled at first, soon realized that Mountain Eagle had taken a shot. Without further inquiry, he cautiously removed his bulletproof helt and placed it near a boulder's edge to test if anyone would shoot. After extending the helt and hearing no expected gunfire, Luo Zheng hurriedly retrieved and donned it again, not daring to move any further – if an enemy could resist such bait, they were not to be trifled with.
"Took one down," the voice of Mountain Eagle ca through the headset, eerily calm without a hint of pride or excitent.
"Well done," Luo Zheng replied, thrilled.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Suddenly, a burst of three shots rang out in the headset, and Luo Zheng, alard, asked, "What's happening?"
No response ca, and Luo Zheng grew even more surprised; gripping his gun, he wanted to peek out but feared enemy snipers, in a state of heightened anxiety. Suddenly, the voice of Snow Leopard ca through the headset: "Found a mouse hole, took one down, now hiding in a snow cave. Geez, these bastards are really good at digging."
"Fantastic, Snow Leopard Brothers! Well done, truly deserving of the na 'Leopard of the Snow.' This mountain combat effectiveness is impressive. Tell , how clever is it?" Luo Zheng asked excitedly. Snow Leopard's shot had revealed their position, alerting the enemy to danger behind them but also, possibly, creating tension and an opportunity for combat. His mood buoyed, he asked.
"The snow cave is just big enough for one person to crawl through, the top layer about a foot thick, so you can stand up at any ti. There's a small opening carved with a military knife for light and air. I'm saying these rats dug such long tunnels without exposure – they weren't worried about air circulation, which is indeed impressive. Even without seeing, you know the direction inside," explained Snow Leopard with a touch of awe.
"Their tunnels aren't interconnected, right? Be careful on your own, best find a spot to hide and not move, wait for an opportunity. We stay still, and it puts the enemy more on edge," Luo Zheng whispered.
"Understood, Ghost Hand brother went to the slope position you ntioned," Snow Leopard whispered back.
"Slope position?" Luo Zheng was surprised, and then quickly realized – the slope was hiding two snipers; Lan Xue had yet to strike. If Ghost Hand could go up there and help, it might flush out the concealed enemy, creating an opportunity for Lan Xue, but it was also very dangerous for Ghost Hand.
"Snow Leopard, up until now in the battle, one enemy blown up, two ambushed by Mountain Eagle, one by Ghost, one more just now, leaving five enemies left. Two snipers are pinned by , and with Ghost Hand ambushing from behind, they can't escape. I reckon those bastards might choose to retreat," Lan Xue's voice sounded in the earpiece.
"Makes sense, Snow Leopard Brothers, be careful and don't stick your heads out recklessly," Luo Zheng advised urgently upon hearing this.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Suddenly, a burst of intense gunfire erupted.
"Where are they shooting?" Luo Zheng exclaid, quickly asking.
"The enemy is conducting fire reconnaissance, everyone stay put," Lan Xue urgently shouted.
The fire reconnaissance quickly ceased, after all, gunfire would expose one's position. Reconnaissance couldn't last long, or else they'd turn into sitting ducks. The Ice and Snow Plateau regained its silence once more, and Lan Xue's voice coldly resonated in everyone's earpieces, "These people are panicking. Everyone hold on, grit it out with them, let's see who lasts till the end."
"Five enemies down, another five remain. They're panicking now. The more they panic, the calr we should be. Don't fire unless there's a clear shot. Brother Ghost Hand, stay hidden. I reckon the slope snipers are onto you. Hide in the snow or under the slope, don't let the satellites spot you," Luo Zheng whispered urgently.
"Understood," Ghost Hand responded.
Soon after, Ghost Hand quietly said, "Thanks for the heads-up, Ghost Brother. There's just one sniper behind the slope, another person's whereabouts unknown, probably hiding. I'm tucked under a slope with cover overhead. If I stay still, satellites won't detect ."
"That's good, everyone be careful. These bastards are tougher than anticipated. Right now, the positions of Brother Mountain Eagle and I have been compromised and the enemy has a rough idea where Snow Leopard is. Ghost Hand, it's not certain if your position has been exposed. Let's keep wearing them down. This fight is far from over," Luo Zheng seriously warned in a soft tone.
The battle had reached this stage, purely relying on ambushes to gain an upper hand. However, the enemy was still substantial in number, so they couldn't afford to be careless or underestimate their opponents. Everyone, understanding the situation, responded and hid themselves well, patiently waiting. Luo Zheng hid behind a large rock, still daring not to move, inwardly admiring these adversaries; having lost half their number yet still maintaining calm, their stamina was indeed terrifying. If it were his own side that had suffered such losses, Luo Zheng doubted they could remain as composed.
"Ghost, the enemy has satellite communication and it seems your position has been compromised. I suspect the enemy is moving towards you, find a way to evacuate from your cover," Lan Xue warned anxiously.
"Understood," Luo Zheng certainly knew that satellites monitored above, and furthermore, the enemies up front could invariably communicate with their holand, getting intelligence. Arctic Bear Country's capabilities in informationalized warfare weren't inferior at all. The problem was that dashing out of cover might be tantamount to suicide, what should he do?
Luo Zheng's brow furrowed tightly as he quickly surveyed the surrounding terrain, seeking a way to extricate himself.
