At the entrance to Gonda Town, Luo Zheng followed closely behind Xinzi, keeping a distance of about half a ter, watchfully observing the people coming and going around him. These people appeared peaceful, uncompetitive, walking slowly, not in a hurry or making loud noises; they only glanced curiously at Luo Zheng before continuing to walk with their heads down and talking with their companions. Occasionally, a small car would pass by, most of them pickup trucks with people sitting in the cargo boxes, who also gave Luo Zheng a curious look before chatting and laughing with those around them.
It was a tranquil and serene town. Luo Zheng observed suspiciously and analyzed, unknowingly arriving at the town center where people set up stalls, and many stopped to watch. Xinzi led the way ahead and suddenly stopped and asked, "We've already co inside, what exactly are we looking for? Aimlessly wandering isn't right; it might arouse suspicion. Maybe there are already many eyes watching us, don't forget you are a new face here."
"Who calls the shots in this city? Take to him," Luo Zheng suddenly asked.
"Uh?" Xinzi looked at Luo Zheng puzzledly, as if trying to determine if Luo Zheng was lying. After thinking for a bit, he said, "Follow ." Then he walked on ahead.
They turned down a street, where there were far fewer people, and the street beca much narrower. Luo Zheng suddenly started feeling uneasy. His hunter's instincts made him aware of the danger around him. He involuntarily reached for the pistol at his waist and slowed his steps, saying, "There's sothing fishy here."
No sooner had he spoken than Luo Zheng suddenly saw Xinzi dash to one side, entering one of the houses in the blink of an eye. Luo Zheng was shocked; his scalp exploded and the corners of his eyes twitched uncontrollably. He imdiately sensed danger, pushed off the ground forcefully, and his body bolted to the side.
"Whoosh!" A rocket flew past, landing on the spot where Luo Zheng had just been standing, emitting a thunderous explosion. The fierce shockwave roared wildly, flipping Luo Zheng into the air and slamming him against a wall. Fortunately, he had moved two seconds earlier and was not at the blast site, or he would have been dead.
Luo Zheng fell to the ground, his head buzzing, his chest uncomfortable from the shockwave, his blood churning, and breathing irregular. He was terrified; he tapped his head with his palms, forcing himself to calm down quickly. He took a deep breath, and out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly saw three people rushing toward him with weapons in hand.
"Not good," Luo Zheng exclaid in shock, and raised his hand to trigger the gun. Three bullets whistled out, carrying Luo Zheng's tumultuous fury and tracing a sinister impact line, instantly piercing the foreheads of the three n. Like being struck by a heavy hamr, their bodies leaned backward and dropped dead on the spot.
"Xinzi?" Luo Zheng's mind flashed back to the scene of Xinzi suddenly running away. No wonder he had felt sothing was off; that person was problematic. Enraged, Luo Zheng shook his head vigorously. He saw five n charging towards him, screaming, holding AK47s. He quickly fired two shots, then rolled to avoid oncoming bullets and fired three more shots, each one finding its target.
Enemies had suddenly appeared not more than a dozen ters away, a distance at which Luo Zheng faced no difficulty. After killing these five n, Luo Zheng struggled to his feet, shook his befuddled head a bit to clear it, and was about to look for a way out when he saw a dozen ard personnel charging towards him, all ard and screaming.
Luo Zheng was alard, he looked back and saw many more ard personnel charging from the other side, towering with aggression. They were now no more than twenty ters away from both sides. Luo Zheng imdiately realized this was a planned conspiracy. Fortunately, he was alone, or they would have been wiped out in one swoop. Thinking of Xinzi, his face turned steely. Seeing a door nearby, Luo Zheng struggled to get up and slamd into the door.
The door was bolted from the inside and could not be forced open. Luo Zheng quickly stepped back, took a deep breath, and charged forward with all his might. He smashed the wooden door to pieces, rolled into the room, and saw the civilians inside staring at him in horror. Realizing there was a language barrier and not wanting to waste words, he pointed his gun at them, motioning them to move to the inner room. Hearing gunfire at the door, he knew the enemies had caught up. He quickly got up and dashed to the window.
"Bang, bang, bang!" Luo Zheng fired through the window without hesitation, shooting at the oncoming enemies. The room, fortified with mud walls, was very sturdy. The bullets did little damage to the walls, so Luo Zheng took cover by the window and continued firing at the targets, each shot biting into flesh. His expression was as stern as iron. He had not expected to be ambushed.
After finishing one magazine, Luo Zheng swiftly changed magazines. Fortunately, he had brought everyone's magazines with him. Each magazine containing 20 bullets, and several magazines added up to the lives of two to three hundred people. Luo Zheng was determined; even if he were to die, he would take a large number of enemies with him.
In the midst of firing, Luo Zheng suddenly spotted Xinzi in the distance, looking on with several ard n around her, whispering sothing. Luo Zheng imdiately confird his suspicion. His eyes blazed with fury. With one hand continuously shooting at the approaching enemies, he quickly put on his headset with the other.
"What's happening?" Lan Xue, hearing the gunfire through the headset, was shocked and urgently asked.
"Damn it, Xinzi is the enemy," Luo Zheng shouted angrily. Seeing more people swarm to the door and dense bullets sealing the window, he had no chance to fire. Without ti for further explanation, he aid a few rapid bursts at the enemies rushing through the door, killing several at the entrance.
"Bastard," Lan Xue, shocked that Xinzi was the enemy, turned pale with anger and punched the ground. Recollecting the journey thus far, Xinzi had shown no strange behavior; on the contrary, she had been considerate to everyone, hiding her true intentions deeply. Rembering Luo Zheng's odd behavior just before, she urgently asked, "What's your escape plan?"
"Can you see where the firefight is happening?" Luo Zheng, after swiftly changing his magazine, tried to close the door but found it blocked by bodies and it wouldn't shut. He ducked behind a wall, suddenly thought of sothing, and quickly yelled, "Your positions must be compromised as well. Be careful of the enemy's pursuit and retreat first. Don't worry about ."
"No way," Lan Xue and Ghost Hand, among others, said almost in unison.
"Thump, thump, thump!" Luo Zheng suddenly saw three dark objects thrown into the room. He instantly realized what they were, his face turned pale, and he dashed towards the inner room. Before he could take cover, he heard three explosions. Fortunately, the shrapnel and shockwaves were blocked by the walls, causing no harm.
Luo Zheng, his eyes filled with murderous intent, glanced at the hoowners sitting on the kang—there were old people and children among them. Not wanting to involve them, he quickly moved out of the inner room. Seeing soone rush in, he roared and decisively fired his gun. Bang, bang, bang—the bullets, carrying Luo Zheng's full wrath, brought down each enemy as they charged in.
