The enemies, a dark mass pressing close, howled strangely, gunfire blaring amid the moonlight, frightful in extremity. A killing aura filled the void, enough to break any spirit. Luo Zheng swept a cold gaze over the onrushing foes, his sharp eyes brimming with endless murderous intent—resolute, daring and forceful. Amid everyone's anticipation, Luo Zheng made a retreat gesture. Without a word, they all followed him, using the cover of night and the bizarre rocks to dash eastward.
The enemies near Stone Mountain, busy running back and forth, focused their attention on their footing to avoid falling or getting caught in crevices. Coupled with the darkness, they failed to notice Luo Zheng and the others retreating from the summit. As they ran, they fired their weapons wildly, and when they were about to reach the summit, they encountered each other and, without questioning, opened fire, causing chaos.
Taking advantage of the ti discrepancy in the enemy's assault, Luo Zheng and the others withdrew from the mountain top. Upon reaching midway up the slope, Luo Zheng suddenly ordered, "Take cover here. Ghost Hand, Snow Bear, flank them and take out the Death God Killer ahead."
"Understood." Everyone replied in unison, scattering to conceal themselves. Ghost Hand quickly relayed the enemy's hiding spots. Once he estimated that everyone had locked on, he rushed off to one side, while Snow Bear charged from another. Luo Zheng, Lan Xue, and Mountain Eagle provided sniper support, aiming at the target's hiding spot.
This Death God Killer had already sensed sothing amiss and had prepared for combat. Seeing Luo Zheng and his team charging, he wanted to shoot several tis, but the bizarre rocks blocked his line of fire, preventing any opportunity to act. When he realized Luo Zheng and his team had suddenly taken cover on the mountainside, he knew trouble was afoot and, invigorated, he stood ready.
Soon, two Black Shadows dashed down Stone Mountain. The Death God Killer wanted to shoot, but he felt an inexplicable pressure, coming from the mountainside, and realized he was in a sniper's sights. Alard, he turned his gun and started running back, his movent technique creating a long shadow under the moonlight, elusive and hard to target.
"He's running?" Luo Zheng was surprised and tried to discern the runner's pattern to find a sniping chance, but the enemy's route was too unpredictable. With a resigned sigh, he said, "He's skilled. Let's not worry about him for now; we need to hurry down."
Gunfire rained like a storm atop the mountain, growing intense. If they realized what was happening and combined their pursuit, the team would be in trouble. Without hesitation, they all descended Stone Mountain, preparing for a rapid march east to withdraw. Then Luo Zheng suddenly said, "That guy just now went east; we need to change our route to avoid an ambush." He then ran in another direction.
Without asking questions, everyone followed Luo Zheng's lead. The five of them, their silhouettes like Wild Wolves on a hunt under the moonlight, swift and agile, soon vanished into the night.
Minutes later, a group arrived with a roar. Leading them was a fully-ard soldier, followed by a young man in a black robe carrying an SVD sniper rifle. After this group stopped, the soldier crouched to inspect the terrain, while the young man, indifferent, surveyed the surroundings with an icy gaze, sharp as a drawn sword, exuding an aura of chilling murderous intent that kept others at bay.
A black-robed woman approached; it was Xinzi. She glanced at the sniper, then at the Major, Casiva, who was crouching to examine the scene, and said discontentedly, "Major Casiva, in accordance with our agreent, we've led you to your target. Isn't it ti you fulfilled your promise?"
The soldier who had been crouching on the ground to inspect slowly stood up. His resolute face was sharply defined, as if chiseled by a ghostly axe, and his cold eyes carried a chilling murderous intent as he stared intensely at Hyacinth, saying without a hint of emotion, "That's your problem. You can go ask the person who made you that promise for paynt, but right now, you can only follow until the target is killed."
"That's not part of our agreent," Hyacinth said to the indifferent soldier, a flicker of panic passing through her eyes, but she stubbornly clenched her teeth and spoke.
"That has nothing to do with ; you only have two choices: follow until they are killed, and I will do everything in my power to ensure your safety during this ti. The second is to kill you. As for the promises you're talking about, you can go to whoever promised you and ask. Apart from that, don't give any nonsense. This is the last ti we talk about this issue; I don't want to hear it brought up again," said Major Casiva coldly, his tone ice-cold and devoid of any emotion.
"You bunch of dishonorable bastards," Hyacinth said in distress. She had thought she would be able to collect the remaining paynt and leave, but instead, she was coerced into staying, being told that the mission would be extended and she'd receive a little extra upon completion, but none of it if she failed. At that mont, Hyacinth regretted everything, especially after nearly being hit by an incendiary bomb, which sent a shiver down her spine and left her panicked. But in the world, there was no dicine for regret; one misstep led to another.
Casiva didn't care about Hyacinth's angry retort and instead watched the black-robed sniper with vigilance, saying coldly, "Can you be sure which way the target ran?"
The black-robed sniper ignored Casiva completely, continuing to gaze into the void of the night sky, sniffing the air as if seeking the target. This action, seen by Casiva, made him feel disregarded, and a surge of anger rose within him. Just as he was about to lose his temper, he noticed the sniper suddenly fixing a sharp, venomous stare on him, which made Casiva's heart skip a beat, infuriating him even more. How could he, the esteed Major of the Snow Bear Special Warfare Team, be intimidated by an assassin? Outrageous.
"I'm talking to you," Casiva said coldly, his piercing gaze challenging the other.
"Hmph," the black-robed sniper scoffed disdainfully, looking back at the emptiness of the night sky, then turning to glance at the other three standing behind him—also in black robes and hoods with only their eyes visible, exuding endless cold murderous intent, each holding a uniform SVD sniper rifle.
The black-robed sniper made a hand signal, then turned and sprinted away. The other three, understanding the gesture, nodded without asking any questions and imdiately dispersed, following swiftly. Their quick movents and dark cloaks stretched long black shadows under the moonlight, like the Death God himself.
Casiva felt insulted, belittled, and was extraordinarily angry. He wanted to erupt, but the others had already run off, quickly reaching a hundred ters away. His brows furrowed as he beca vigilant. This person was faster than the rest—who were they? He couldn't help but look at Hyacinth with a questioning gaze.
Hyacinth, full of anger toward Casiva, simply turned her head away as if she had not seen, ignoring him. Casiva looked back at the large number of ard personnel. The leader of the group had been hit by an incendiary bomb, and command had been taken over by others. Although they were cooperative, the previous leader had also been acting as a translator, and now there was no one to communicate, which greatly annoyed Casiva.
