At dusk, when the last warmth of the setting sun had drained away and disappeared below the desert horizon, a gentle wind arose, carrying away the temperature of the desert surface. Despite this, the heat remained almost unbearable. The vast dunes, unending and monotone, tired the eyes. Fine sand stirred with the wind, exposing a lizard that scampered forward in panic and quickly burrowed back into the sand, disappearing without a trace.
On a severely desertified hillside, a group of people lay in ambush, peeking towards the front. Below the hillside was a flat Gobi, like a huge basin surrounded by severely desertified mountains, all of which looked nearly identical. However, many sunken holes appeared on the basin, so areas sared with bloodstains, and no one in sight. It was precisely the secret military base of the Terrorist Organization.
The ones hiding on the hillside were Luo Zheng and his group, who observed for a while then hunched down to avoid being detected by the secret military base's sentries. They gathered around, and Luo Zheng looked seriously at Tiger Girl and asked, "To rescue our people, we must understand the situation below. Now that we've reached our destination, can you give us a detailed introduction based on the terrain?"
"Sure," Tiger Girl readily agreed and pointed in a direction, saying, "Last ti you guys staged an assault, you blew up quite a few caves and blocked many passages, but compared to the entire underground base, it was less than one-tenth, and only on the periphery. The central location is over there."
Everyone followed the direction pointed out by Tiger Girl and was struck with shock. The scale of their last assault covered at least three standard soccer fields, yet it was less than one-tenth—how large was the entire underground base then? Luo Zheng looked towards the central location and asked, "Where is Tiger King being held?"
"Central location, about 300 ters underground," Tiger Girl replied.
"What's the deploynt of the underground forces like?" Luo Zheng continued to inquire. Seeing that Tiger Girl seed unsure of how to describe it, he caught on, imdiately drew a rough floor plan in the dirt, and added, "Just tell us where the people are and what each area is used for."
Tiger Girl pointed to the floor plan and explained, "The central location has the most people, about a thousand. The other four corners each have several hundred, though I'm not clear on the exact numbers. Everyone in each corner sticks to their posts, where there are canteens, wells, and so on, along with people brought in for everyday tasks. Unless commanded, the ard personnel do not move out."
"How did you get out?" Lan Xue curiously pressed.
"?" Tiger Girl looked at Lan Xue in surprise and continued, "I was in charge of cooking and chopping wood in the central location, mainly taking care of godfather's daily needs. It's been days; I don't even know if godfather has eaten." On saying this, Tiger Girl beca visibly upset.
"Don't worry, everything will be alright. Is there a way you can take us inside?" Lan Xue asked further.
"I can get in myself without much trouble; they all recognize . But if they realize I had escaped and then try to get back in, there might be problems," Tiger Girl said, troubled.
"Where is the ammunition store? Are there still people wearing black robes inside?" Luo Zheng suddenly asked.
"I'm unsure about the ammunition store, but there are definitely people in black robes, quite a few, probably a hundred or so. There's this guy nad Shijing who ca here with a big group to learn knife skills from godfather, it has been over three months. They haven't really learned much; godfather deliberately teaches slowly to tornt them. There are about a dozen who have learned already. They stay here permanently, responsible for security, very arrogant, and no one dares to ss with them," Tiger Girl hurriedly said.
"Shijing? The training camp's second-in-command?" Luo Zheng's eyes brightened, and he couldn't help but smile. That guy actually ca here, no wonder he had been off the radar. Luo Zheng then said to the group, "I have a way to get in now."
"What's the plan?" everyone asked Luo Zheng with surprise in their eyes.
"We have three sets of black robes. I, Xue Er, and Ghost Hand will go in, while Snow Leopard and Mountain Eagle, you two stay outside since you don't understand Japanese. Once we three pretending to be black-robed n enter, I'll take Tiger Girl to find Tiger King. Xue Er and Ghost hand, you'll find the ammunition depot and set the explosion tir. Wait for my signal before detonating; I need to make sure if the iron cage holding Tiger King can be opened and how long it will take." Luo Zheng spoke earnestly.
"Yes!" Everyone's expression sharpened, and they solemnly agreed, their eyes gleaming with radiance and no objections to Luo Zheng's idea. Mountain Eagle knew that his leg was not too agile and going along might slow them down. It was better to provide sniper cover from outside. Snow Leopard felt a bit gloomy for not joining in, but he dismissed the thought knowing he didn't understand Japanese.
"Will this work?" Tiger Girl asked curiously.
"Don't worry. Didn't you say all the black-robed people are arrogant and the militants are afraid of them? If we go in disguised as black-robed people, no one will dare to inspect us. Even if they do inspect us, we aren't scared. We understand Japanese, which is also the language the black-robed people speak. We won't be exposed. Even if we are exposed, we'll just fight our way out." Luo Zheng said nonchalantly, as he laid down his equipnt. Dragon Tooth was inserted at his back, covered by the black robe, invisible to others.
The pistols were out of bullets, and the sniper rifle couldn't be brought as it would easily give them away. The only weapons they could bring were the Hand Crossbow and Button Bombs. Everyone concealed their weapons well and prepared to set off after which Luo Zheng looked at Mountain Eagle and Snow Leopard, who nodded understandingly with a determined look and rising morale.
"Take care." Everyone said unanimously, a result of the bond ford through long-ti fighting side by side.
With mutual understanding, they turned and left. The three, along with Tiger Girl, descended the slope and headed straight for the base. Along the way, they didn't detect any sentries, which made sense considering the area was surrounded by desert, inaccessible to the average person. Those who could enter wouldn't be noticed by the sentries anyway. Moreover, the extre temperature alterations were unbearable outside, and the underground base was like a maze, making it hard for unfamiliar entrants to find their way, rendering sentries sowhat unnecessary.
Tiger Girl led the way in front; to make the guise more convincing, she handed the Japanese sword to Luo Zheng. After a while, a pit appeared ahead. Tiger Girl looked back at everyone and whispered, "There are many pits around here, and people are guarding underneath them, watching. Soone approaching could be spotted in advance. There's also one ahead."
"You don't need to worry about anything or say anything. Just go directly and find Tiger King, understand?" Luo Zheng whispered back, their black robes covering every part of them except for their eyes, making them unrecognizable. As long as they didn't slip up, the chances of being exposed were slim unless they encountered other black-robed people.
"Mm." Tiger Girl nodded and continued walking forward confidently.
"Everyone be careful. If you encounter black-robed people, blend in if you can, but if you can't, fight your way out imdiately. Don't try to be a hero; missing an opportunity isn't the end of the world, but you only have one life," Lan Xue suddenly whispered, cautioning everyone.
"Yes," Luo Zheng and Ghost Hand quietly responded, their eyes piercing with a lethal intensity.
