He held a eting with all his divine beasts to discuss how to take on Iskar.
“Well, I don’t know about his strength, but I do know a thing or two about curses.” Anubis squinted his eyes. “Most of the ti, curses are annoying. Do you know why?”
“It can’t be blocked?”
“Yes. Unlike Fenrir’s body, no one can withstand a curse being planted into their body. Of course, special powers like the chaos fla or even the sun fire can stop it. Even my power can fight against it.
“However, without that special power, it’s going to be hard to fight the curse. For example, you have ti, but how are you planning to use ti against the curse?
“You can’t fight a curse half-heartedly. After all, what you should worry about is a curse that uses a catalyst before it’s sent out.”
“Catalyst?” Nathan frowned.
“Yes. There are three stages of curses from what I know. Spell, Catalyst, and Self Sacrifice.”
“Spell, Catalyst, and Self Sacrifice…” Nathan pondered for a mont. “By using your words, the first stage will be similar to elental magic. But it might have a physical form, which ans your power can withstand it.
“The next one will be Catalyst. At this stage, the curse will require an item. Maybe like voodoo, you need a doll, a person’s hair, and so on.
“Last but not least, Self Sacrifice. Is it using your own body as a catalyst?”
Anubis nodded with a serious expression. “You are correct. I don’t think I need to explain further regarding the spell. For the ti being, my power can fight him. Since I’m more of a support, I will focus on the defense. Qilin must be doing the sa thing, right?”
“Yes, I’m planning to have you and Qilin be our support this ti. Including my teacher, everyone has told that 6 familiars are the best number if you want speed and flexibility.
“This way, you won’t lose your precious ti in taking care of more familiars. At the sa ti, you have enough numbers to create a powerful group that can cover each other.
“Even in my group, there are six people. Noelle and Alavenya are the vanguards, Selena and Flora are providing firepower, and Seraphina and I are the support and the brain respectively. That’s why 6 is said to be the best number for summoners.
“So, I’ll assu Iskar Haygaiden has six familiars.” Nathan explained. “…which ans Mae will fight one of them.”
Mae nodded while Anubis continued, “Yes. Let’s talk about the catalyst now. The catalyst is not just an item to speed things up.
“Instead, it’s an all-purpose item. Basically, it can improve the accuracy, speed, or even make the curse unstoppable.
“Still, there’s a limit to how many catalysts one can have. Of course, a high-ranking catalyst will allow them to cast a much more powerful curse, but since the enemy has been locked down for so long, he might not have a lot of catalysts.
“Depending on the catalyst, the effect will be different. Hence, rather than cramming all that information right now, I’m planning to warn you and tell you what to do for every type of catalyst.”
“Sounds good to .” Nathan nodded without hesitation.
“Good. The problem is Self Sacrifice.”
“Hmm?” Nathan squinted his eyes. “Why do you think it’s a problem?”
“By using themselves as the catalyst, the curse power, of course, will increase trendously. At that level, I don’t think my power will be able to block it completely.
“The reason is pretty simple. The Self Sacrifice is the sa as infusing your own will or desire to boost the power of your curse. In other words, he’s using his lifespan or, even worse, life force to utilize that power.
“If soone ever uses Self Sacrifice, it will be the sa as fighting them with all their future potential. If you fight a monster with a lifespan reaching 1,000 years, you will face that 1,000 years.
“That’s why you need to be careful when fighting against them.”
Nathan finally experienced the full force of Self Sacrifice.
“Go!” Iskar waved his hand, creating a wave of energy toward Nathan.
Anubis hurriedly activated his ankh while Qilin used the hexagram to neutralize it. To Nathan’s surprise, both of their powers were broken as the torrential energy ca toward Nathan.
‘Is this the strength of the Self Sacrifice? It can even crush Anubis and Qilin’s abilities? They have divine powers…’
However, there was sothing even Anubis couldn’t predict.
From the Self Sacrifice, the thod Iskar used to get stronger actually complented the curse ability.
“Not good. Summoner…” Anubis gasped. “There are resentnts in his ena. All that resentnt makes his curse even stronger!”
“!!!”
That was right. The resentnt within the blood he absorbed ended up boosting the power of the curse.
Nathan might not be able to see it, but in Anubis’ vision, he could see the true form of this raging energy. It was made of hundreds, if not thousands, of people’s shadows. It was as if they were trying to co out and unleash their rage on the world.
They crushed even Anubis’ power.
“…” Anubis couldn’t help but beco furious. He was the god of the afterlife. Seeing how all these resentnts crawled out made him want to give them proper justice. “If only Ammit and Ma’at were here…”
Anubis activated his domain this ti.
“!!!” Iskar was quite surprised by Anubis’ domain, but Anubis went one step further.
“Judgnt!” Anubis shouted as he activated his scale. The scale glowed and lit up the entire room, causing the resentnt to disappear. But this was just a portion of the resentnt. Unless he took care of Iskar, they would still be trapped inside his body.
Nathan observed Anubis’ reaction. Even when Fenrir, Nidhogg, and Jinwu fought against each other, Anubis remained calm most of the ti. Even when he joined the argunt, Anubis was never angry… at most annoyed.
But this ti, Nathan could feel it easily… the intense anger blazing in his eyes.
