"Mhmm? What?" Nathan asked. He thought he heard Evelyn saying sothing.
Evelyn bit her lip before raising her head. "I said, ’This is not fair.’ If you keep doing this for , I..."
Nathan paused for a mont before smiling. "So, that’s how it is. I guess you have gotten accustod to the excessive things that people have done for you, especially from your admirers."
Evelyn turned her head down again.
"It looks like you are misunderstanding sothing." Nathan raised his finger playfully. "I didn’t do this to capture your heart, you know that? I did it because you are already my family."
"You..."
"Getting ahead of myself?" Nathan suddenly sobbed as if he had been wronged. "I thought you had told that... and that the only thing in our way is the Death Society. Was all that just empty words...?"
Evelyn’s lips trembled. It looked like she wanted to say sothing, but she couldn’t deny it either.
Her heart had been moved ever since he had negotiated with Roggoth to save her life. He even showed her the path to the future.
Before that, she had always believed she was the pioneer, chasing after the shadow of Elysion Aquamoon. She had to keep going to et the expectations of the people around her. It was a lonely path.
However, at that ti, it was the first ti she knew that she wasn’t alone on that path. She couldn’t help thinking that having soone by her side might be good. It was different from Bella, who could only support her from behind.
She had accepted Nathan in her heart from that point on, but the Death Society was still standing in their way. If she couldn’t remove the Death Society, it would weaken her resolve to forge a new future where she and Nathan could walk side by side.
So, there was no way she could deny Nathan’s words, but that wasn’t what she ant. She just thought it unfair if she was the only one receiving.
She had been distant from others. So, the only romance in her mind was close to a political marriage, just with the spice called love.
In the end, the marriage in her mind was two equal people coming together. Two ’equal’ people. In other words, they would be giving to each other, not like this.
Since she never accepted the advances of people, she had always rejected their gifts. But there was no way she could reject Nathan’s gift. It just felt unfair if she couldn’t give anything in return.
"I... don’t want to take advantage of you." Evelyn shook her head furiously. "Back then, I could still provide things, including my help. But look at you now, you have grown strong enough to do everything by yourself.
"In the end, I will be the one who will keep receiving from you."
This was probably the first ti Evelyn had lost her cool. Even Nathan was quite surprised that his small action actually caused her outburst.
Evelyn hadn’t shown much of her emotions to him. She was usually calm and collected, as if everything had been within her expectation.
The only thing he knew was the fact that she was a caring person, according to Bella. And that made sense after seeing her outburst.
It looked like his action had backfired instead, so he had to approach her in another way.
"This is a birthday present. You’re not taking advantage of ."
Evelyn didn’t say anything, but it was clear she didn’t buy it.
So, Nathan added, "How about this? Since this is a birthday present, you should give a present as well?"
Evelyn looked around before shifting her gaze down as if she were staring at her own body. She fell silent for a mont. "What kind of birthday present do you want?"
Even though she didn’t say it, Nathan couldn’t help but smile wryly when she was considering it.
So as not to embarrass himself, he imdiately answered that question. "How about teaching your space elent? Once you are able to fuse your two elents, the direction of your elent developnt will be different than just a single space elent can do. So, it won’t matter much if you teach about your space elent, right?"
Evelyn was surprised by the request. This was life research, so it was priceless to soone. But Nathan had sacrificed sothing even more priceless.
"I don’t mind teaching you my space elent. But why do you want it? If it’s just to make feel better, then forget it. Don’t make a simple excuse that I know is a lie, such as telling the knowledge will be used to create space artifacts or sothing."
Nathan raised his hand. "Actually..."
He suddenly showed a fluctuation of the space elent, which disrupted the void. For a master of the space elent, she would surely notice it.
"!!!" Evelyn widened her eyes. "That’s... Wait, you have a space elent? Or are you just using that wondrous innate ability to just make feel better?"
Without hesitation, Evelyn dragged him to the bed and pushed him down. Her hand was roaming around her body, trying to sense his elent core.
She would get angry if Nathan was just doing this to make her feel better. However, she was wrong.
There was another elent core in his body. She was worried that Nathan had done this recklessly since she knew how dangerous it was to have multiple elents.
After finding out that he didn’t do it spontaneously, she felt relieved. Of course, she was still worried because it didn’t an Nathan was out of danger.
"You... Why do you have two elents? I rember you weren’t supposed to have a space elent when you left here."
Nathan just smiled. She was indeed caring. She threw away all her feelings after knowing he might be in danger.
"Are you going to teach the space elent then? Don’t worry. My life is not in danger because I created the two elent cores strategically."
He ford a Space-Ti Lock on top of his palm to prove his point. "See? I can use both elents just fine."
"This..." Evelyn was completely speechless.
Nathan rose from the bed and summoned Xolotl. "This is my new familiar, Xolotl. He will be the one helping you harmonize your elents. And that dicine will help you."
