Chapter 972: Together
With such a brutal thod, Vivian could only cry. Her stomach felt like it was being squeezed, as she could vomit at any mont.
Just as she found another family mber, he would be leaving her again… and it was to protect her. At that ti, she felt like she was the bad luck of her family. If she ever beca close to soone else again, she would end up losing them again.
Because of her trauma, she buried herself with work, trying to escape this painful reality. That was also the ti she beca one of the youngest professors in the magic tower’s history.
Unfortunately, it was also short-lived. She couldn’t move on until Leyfon ca and invited her to beco the teacher in the academy.
The reason for her not having any disciples this whole ti was because she didn’t want to lose another person in her life. She was already sick of losing her family. She didn’t want to beco the bad luck of that person and killed them.
Originally, she thought she would remain like this forever. The goal of rebuilding her family had disappeared in her heart. If she didn’t have any family, she wouldn’t lose anyone else.
She refused to beco closer to anyone else so that she didn’t have to endure that pain anymore.
It all changed the mont Nathan appeared in her life.
Just like the ti when she first t her ntor, Nathan was there.
For the first ti in her life, she felt what her ntor felt when he t her. The smart girl that could do a lot of things in her life.
She initially intended to take Nathan as a disciple so that she could feel what her ntor felt back then, but before she realized it, she and Nathan had beco closer so naturally.
Nathan was a handful, but for so reason, she was looking forward to every day, wondering what he would co up with next.
She was angry at one ti and helpless at another, but ultimately, she just felt comfortable with Nathan. For the first ti after so many years, she thought it was ti to move on from the past.
However, Nathan had been reckless the whole ti. Even though she was harsh when teaching him, she had always given him all the support he needed to overco the challenge. She quietly improved his constitution and even solved all the problems, such as Baron Ryzant, when his son Xavier Ryzant challenged Nathan.
However, that trauma resurfaced the mont Nathan ntioned another continent where he would fight against those people again.
They had killed her ntor with such a brutal thod. Just the thought of Nathan suffering the sa fate made her want to vomit. There was no way she would lose Nathan… not again.
Yet, Nathan was adamant. She felt conflicted this whole ti. That was why she couldn’t face him for several days.
“I have lost my ntor to them. I have lost my family to the aliens…” Vivian bit her lips, tears streaming from her eyes. “I don’t want to lose you as well. Please… Nathan… I will do anything… Just please… don’t go…”
Nathan finally understood her pain. She had lost her family twice. And this ti, he could be considered her family.
Nathan closed her eyes for a mont before saying, “Thank you for sharing your feelings with , Master. However, I’m sorry…”
Vivian gritted her teeth and pulled back as she grabbed his shoulders. She scread, “Why don’t you understand? You are my disciple, right? You have to obey !”
Nathan looked at her with a gentle smile, understanding the darkness in her heart. “I understand what you want, Master.”
“Then, why?! Why do you have to go? Why? Do you want to chop your legs off just so that you can’t leave ?!” Vivian was in a ss, as though she were on the verge of breaking.
Nathan gently moved his hand closer to her cheek before slowly wiping her tears. “In this dark house, we often can’t see what’s in front of us… even if the thing we need the most is staring right at us.”
Nathan knew this feeling as well. He wanted to escape from his father in the past, but no one was extending a hand. He was begging and screaming in his heart, asking for the police to notice him, but they never did.
But it all changed when he realized the thing he needed was staring right at him. What he only needed to do was light up the house so that they could finally see each other. For him, it was calling the police. Although he was also a bit excessive by trapping his father so that he would be sentenced, he was able to make the police notice him.
And this ti, Nathan was staring at him. By sharing what she had hidden in her heart this whole ti, she was able to reach out to him, making them able to stare at each other.
“We all have fear in our hearts. However, people mistake it as a weakness. We can’t show our fear so that our enemies can’t take advantage of it.
“You don’t want to show your weakness because you don’t want to be taken away. But while doing so, you have lost one important thing, Master.
“It’s courage. Fear is not a weakness. It’s a kind senior who guides us to know what our weakness is and tells us how to get stronger.
“You have lost twice. Your family has been the one protecting you this whole ti, but I’m different.
“I wish to walk alongside you. If you are scared of losing , then hold my hand because I will always be next to you. If you take one step forward, I will follow you. If you are tired, I will lead you.
“That’s why, Master… Please allow to go… No.” Nathan shook his head. “Master… Let’s go together. If you think I will be in danger, then co with and protect . If you feel tired, it will be my turn to protect you.”
Vivian opened her mouth as if she wanted to say sothing, but the words stuck in her throat.
It felt like she had been standing in the dark room the whole ti. For the first ti, she could see a bit of light in the distance.
She suddenly felt a bit of warmth on her hand as Nathan appeared, pulling her away. With a bright smile on his face, he said, “Let’s go forward. It’s brighter over there.”
The loneliness and sadness that she had buried away resurfaced, but unlike all the tis it happened in the past, she could feel the warmth that told her it would be alright.
Vivian bit her lips as tears stread down her face. There was no word. She just hugged Nathan as tightly as possible.
