Wu i actually took the initiative to invite him to dinner?
Facing Wu i’s alluring smile, Lin Feng was montarily stunned. He was still pondering how to change Wu i’s negative impression of him, yet it seed his image in her eyes had already improved... she was even inviting him to dinner!
"Well, I just helped out a bit; there’s no need to treat to dinner."
Lin Feng considered for a mont before replying politely.
This was a tactic known as ’playing hard to get.’ If he accepted Wu i’s invitation imdiately, it would seem too abrupt. And if Wu i had just been joking, it would have been awkward. So, after Lin Feng’s polite refusal, if Wu i extended the invitation again, he would then accept, making it seem more natural.
Just as Lin Feng expected, Wu i said, "It might be a small thing to you, but it’s a big deal to . Let’s settle it then. Tonight at seven, Grand Hyatt Hotel. I’ll book a table and text you the details."
With a smile as refreshing as a spring breeze, Wu i said, "It’s settled then," before walking into the elevator and going upstairs.
Damn, are handso guys really this popular nowadays?
Watching Wu i’s departing figure, Lin Feng was completely baffled. He rembered being harshly scolded the last ti for staring at her chest. How could she change so drastically after just one eting? Could it really be because his charm was too potent for won...?
The transport departnt was selecting people for driving assignnts, but Lin Feng, being new, wasn’t chosen. So, in the afternoon, Lin Feng went straight to the transport departnt’s break room to catch up on sleep for half the day.
When it was ti to get off work, Lin Feng woke up. Rembering Wu i had invited him to dinner, he quickly checked his phone. Wu i had sent a text; she had already booked the table.
Lin Feng was puzzled. He hadn’t given Wu i his phone number, so how did she know it? But then it dawned on him: Wu i was the assistant to the vice president. Getting his contact details from the Human Resources departnt would be a piece of cake for her.
Lin Feng stayed at the company until just past six o’clock before taking a taxi to the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
When he arrived in the lobby and gave Wu i’s na, a waiter imdiately led Lin Feng to a quiet table by the window, where Wu i was already seated, waiting for him.
Lin Feng sat down, checked the ti, and said, "I’m not late; you’re early. Heh, this makes seem a bit ungentlemanly."
"It doesn’t matter. It’s just a casual al; no need for so many formalities. I’ve already ordered the dishes I like. Take a look and order whatever else you want; don’t worry about saving money."
Wu i smiled faintly at Lin Feng. With two slender, jade-like fingers, she gently picked up the nu and passed it to him.
Lin Feng glanced at it; five dishes and a soup had already been ordered. He chuckled, "This is plenty of food. I’m easy to feed." With that, he handed the nu to the waiter waiting nearby.
"Sir, what would you like to drink?" the waiter asked.
"A Coke, please." Lin Feng smiled slightly and looked at Wu i. It was only then he noticed that Wu i was wearing different clothes than she had at noon.
Now, Wu i was wearing a striped short-sleeved top, draped with a black cardigan. Her hair was styled in sothing like an ancient ’flying cloud bun,’ and combined with her delicate features, she looked incredibly dignified and graceful.
"You look very beautiful tonight," Lin Feng complinted.
"Thank you. However, you don’t seem to have put much thought into this dinner; you haven’t even changed your clothes."
Wu i smiled at Lin Feng as she spoke, making him grin a little sheepishly.
Soon, the dishes arrived, and the two began to eat.
After chatting for a while, Wu i asked, "Now that you’ve just transferred to the transport departnt, how do you find it?"
"It’s alright," Lin Feng replied succinctly.
"The pay and benefits in the transport departnt are good, right? By the way, I hear the perks are related to the number of trips you make. Have you been on any runs yet?" Wu i asked again.
Lin Feng shook his head. "Not yet. I just transferred, so it won’t be that quick. It seems I have to wait for notification from the higher-ups. By the way, isn’t Boss Niu always in charge of the dispatch arrangents for the transport departnt? You’re his secretary, so you should know, right?"
Hearing this, Wu i paused, stunned for a mont. Then, she said, sowhat awkwardly, "Boss Niu handles all these things himself. I’m not involved in these matters, and he doesn’t want to be." She chuckled lightly. "So, what are the main routes the transport departnt has been sending vehicles on recently?"
"Uh..."
Faced with Wu i’s question, Lin Feng suddenly didn’t know how to respond. It wasn’t that he couldn’t answer, but he found it a bit odd. This Wu i had been asking questions from the mont they started eating, almost like a police interrogation, which made him uncomfortable.
"I’m not too clear about the specific routes, as I haven’t been on a run yet."
Lin Feng hesitated for a mont, choosing to feign ignorance.
In reality, ever since he arrived at the transport departnt, he had been very concerned about this. The destinations for the transport departnt’s vehicles were very likely the hidden locations of the Emperor Dragon Group’s drugs, or rendezvous points with drug smugglers. This information was extrely important to Lin Feng. So, he had obtained so locations and had initially identified a few places. But these places all looked very ordinary, so he planned to wait until after his first run to specifically verify the authenticity of this information.
"Oh, is that so?" Wu i observed Lin Feng’s expression and continued with a faint smile. "Haven’t you and your convoy colleagues chatted about interesting things that happen during drives? I hear being on the road can be quite boring."
He had originally wanted to get closer to Wu i to gather information. So, seizing the opportunity as Wu i kept talking about work matters, Lin Feng asked probingly, "No... Assistant Wu, you seem very concerned about the transport departnt’s affairs, don’t you? Heh, hasn’t Boss Niu told you anything about them?"
"Um... Niu Bi is very busy. He generally doesn’t talk to about these things."
A flicker of disappointnt mixed with a strange expression crossed Wu i’s face. She then lowered her head and said nothing.
After a few dozen seconds of silence, Wu i looked up again and asked Lin Feng, "Lin Feng, we’ll probably be done eating a little after eight. What are you doing after dinner?"
"Huh?" Lin Feng was stunned by the question.
Usually, when two people were out for a private dinner, asking this question implied that there might be an invitation for the evening. However, Wu i saying this made Lin Feng feel a bit uncomfortable. He had just done her a small favor, and she not only invited him to dinner but now wanted to invite him out for the evening too? To do what?
Lin Feng’s gaze fell on Wu i’s face. He saw her red lips purse slightly and her eyes blink at him. Her feigned reluctance mixed with an inviting look was incredibly alluring.
Damn, could this Wu i be an outwardly cold but inwardly passionate vixen? She wouldn’t be like Liu Qing, planning to invite to get a room tonight, would she?
Looking at the beautiful woman before him, with her coquettish glances and alluring posture, Lin Feng couldn’t help but swallow hard.
