Lin Feng turned around in surprise to see that the person calling his na was none other than Ye Lin, the female captain of the Nanjiang District Detective Team.
It turned out Ye Lin happened to be investigating a case near the Tianxing Club. She had received the news after the alert ca into the control center and had rushed to the scene imdiately. Unfortunately, the fire was so large that she could hardly analyze the situation and could only wait outside the blaze for the firefighters to do their work.
"Ye Lin!" Lin Feng exclaid, noticing Ye Lin's surprised expression. Ignoring the many police officers around, he quietly approached Ye Lin, grabbed her wrist, and asked in a low voice, "How many injured people have been rescued from the fire so far? Can you confirm their identities?"
"Lin Feng, what are you doing..." Ye Lin irritably pulled her hand away from Lin Feng's grasp and questioned him coldly, "Are you asking , or am I asking you?! Why are you here? What does the incident at the Tianxing Club have to do with you?"
"I…" Lin Feng's face stiffened at Ye Lin's question. In fact, he wasn't here just because he was concerned about Lord Dragon. The ones he truly cared about were Wu i and Yan Su! Losing contact with both of them had thrown him into a panic... That was why, in his desperation, he had imdiately asked Ye Lin about the injured when he saw her.
"Speak!" Ye Lin scoffed, pressing further, "I'd like to know, what ties do you have with the Tianxing Club and the Qinglong Group?"
"Ye Lin, I'll answer your questions later, but please answer mine first..." Lin Feng stared at Ye Lin, not backing down, his voice firm.
"Hmph..." Ye Lin looked at Lin Feng skeptically, then shook her head. "Who do you think you are, Lin Feng? Why should I trust you?!"
Ye Lin had spoken very callously. She had assud Lin Feng, anxious to know the situation, would keep pressing or even beg her; she had even been looking forward to it... But when Ye Lin turned her head slightly, she found Lin Feng had vanished.
It turned out Lin Feng had shifted his attention to Zhao Weipeng, who was standing a few ters away beside a police car, staring boredly at the fire.
"Brother Zhao... I have a question for you!" Lin Feng approached Zhao Weipeng enthusiastically. His hand, ford into a claw, inconspicuously gripped Zhao Weipeng's vulnerable ribs, squeezing gently as he repeated the question he had just asked Ye Lin, "I'm a little curious, how many injured people have been carried out of the fire so far? Have they all been identified?"
"HISS..." Zhao Weipeng, caught by Lin Feng's 'casual' squeeze, broke out in a cold sweat from the pain. Recognizing Lin Feng, he pleaded, "Bro—Brother Feng! Let... let go... My ribs are going to break!"
Only after Lin Feng 'sheepishly' released his grip, and Zhao Weipeng was instantly relieved of the pain, did he subconsciously blurt out, "No injured people! At least, so far, not a single injured person has appeared!"
So that's how it is! Lin Feng nodded, a mixture of surprise and doubt on his face. Glancing at the Tianxing Club, engulfed in flas, he fell deep into thought.
No injured people were found in the raging inferno. If it wasn't that the firefighters simply hadn't located them yet, then it ant the vast majority must have successfully escaped!
Lin Feng believed that, barring any accidents, with Yan Su and Wu i's skills, they should have been able to escape the fire easily... But, like Lord Dragon, they had not only mysteriously disappeared, but their phones were also unreachable. This complicated things!
Lin Feng's brow furrowed. He looked up at the Tianxing Club, which was emitting a crimson glow from the raging fire, a sense of oppression weighing on his heart. Even with his abilities, he was only human; charging into such a ferocious fire to search for people was impossible! Though very worried, Lin Feng could only wait for the fire departnt's progress...
"Lin Feng! You've gone too far!" Ye Lin exclaid, sowhat angered when she saw Lin Feng bypass her and get the answer directly from Zhao Weipeng. She knew Lin Feng's real concern was for Wu i, the undercover agent who was supposed to be hidden in the Tianxing Club. However, due to confidentiality protocols, Ye Lin couldn't directly tell Lin Feng that she already knew Wu i was an undercover agent, which left her feeling quite frustrated.
Lin Feng was not in a good mood at the mont. Being relentlessly questioned by Ye Lin, he couldn't help but feel a bit irritated.
"How have I gone too far?" Lin Feng turned his head, glared at Ye Lin, and demanded in a low voice. In the firelight, his anxious face appeared sowhat distorted.
"You... You dare to ignore ..." Ye Lin stamred, her voice betraying a lack of confidence as she looked at Lin Feng's terrifying expression.
"Officer Ye, are you mistaken? I'm not your prisoner. Why should I have to get your opinion on everything?" Lin Feng glared at Ye Lin and challenged her in a low voice. "Besides, these days, even prisoners aren't people you can just order around as you please! Aren't you overstepping your bounds?"
Because both Wu i and Yan Su were missing, Lin Feng was extrely agitated. Seeing Ye Lin at this mont—whether it was a sudden eruption of resentnt from the bottom of his heart or he intentionally wanted to vent his anger on her—he ended up shouting at Ye Lin.
"Lin Feng... you... you're too much!" Ye Lin cried, looking at Lin Feng's sowhat contorted face. In her heart, she understood why he had beco so frightening. While she empathized, she also felt a pang of grievance. This Lin Feng, the one who had once pursued her relentlessly, wasn't like this; now, right in front of her, he was only concerned about other won...
Hearing Ye Lin's sowhat resentful words, Lin Feng sobered up a little. He looked at Ye Lin intently, and in her eyes, he sensed concern and disappointnt.
From that resentful gaze, Lin Feng recalled the scenes of him and Ye Lin at the Falcon Squad Training Camp: their many conflicts, and their eventual return to normal life in an extrely ambiguous state… He even rembered winning his bet with Ye Lin, the night he had reached out with his 'roving hands,' peeled open her clothes, and gently caressed her pair of snow-white, dazzling, magnificent peaks…
At this point, how could Lin Feng not understand? Ye Lin's current reaction was simply due to her unique sensitivity as a woman...
"You know about and Wu i?" Lin Feng stared at Ye Lin and suddenly asked in a calm voice.
Ye Lin looked at Lin Feng, sowhat shocked. Seeing his face as calm as still water, without a ripple of emotion, she finally nodded lightly and admitted with so guilt, "Yes... I know. I've always known..."
Ordinarily, with her status as team captain of the Nanjiang District Detective Team, Ye Lin wouldn't have had the opportunity to know about Wu i's operation. But, coincidentally, she had t Wu i during her and Lin Feng's first mission as official mbers of the Falcon Squad. Therefore, Wu i's subsequent disguise was practically useless against Ye Lin!
So, when Ye Lin discovered that Lin Feng had used a fake identity to board the Treasure Ship, she naturally investigated Wu i's movents and knew that she had actually been with Lin Feng all along.
