"Get in!"
A tall man imdiately crawled through, unexpectedly finding a frequently traveled path. After his remark, the remaining people quickly made their way through the pigsty and followed the path upward.
anwhile, Uncle Li had already reached Wang Cuixia’s house and found her drying radish slices. In a hurry, Uncle Li knocked on the door.
"It’s bad, Miss. Soone has co to the village and is asking for Xu Ke’s na. You better run away quickly."
Uncle Li said urgently, sweat covering his face.
Wang Cuixia dropped the radish slices from her hands onto the ground. After a long pause, she opened her mouth and sighed.
"What is ant to co will co. If we hide, where can we hide? With my current appearance, they probably won’t recognize . However, the child has already gone out this morning."
She picked up the radish slices again, seeming calm and collected: "If there’s still ti, since our Wang Family has served for so many years, you should leave quickly and not worry about anything else."
Knowing those people were prepared to act, they definitely couldn’t escape far. Uncle Li shook his head vigorously upon hearing this.
"Miss, that’s impossible. When Old Man passed away, he entrusted with taking care of you and Young Master. I regret that I’ve let things get to this point. If I leave now, I might as well not be human."
Seeing Uncle Li unwilling to leave, Wang Cuixia turned around, poured two cups of tea, and the two sat in the courtyard drinking.
As for Xu Ke, there’s no way to inform him now, so everything depends on the child’s fate.
Although Wang Cuixia was worried, she had told Xu Ke earlier that if soone asked for his na, he must not answer truthfully. The child has woken up and should be smart.
The people followed the path and quickly found Wang Cuixia, knocking on her door.
As Wang Cuixia was about to go to the door, the people pushed it open and ca in. Seeing Uncle Li there, they imdiately beca wary.
"Who exactly are you to Xu Ke?"
The person shouted sharply, already drawing the knife he carried, and Wang Cuixia stepped back, frightened.
"Oh my, it’s you again. I just ca to visit here; I didn’t expect you to find yourself here."
Uncle Li clapped his hands, not evading, making the people think they might have co to the wrong place.
"I’ve told you already, I have no idea who Xu Ke is. You’re invading soone’s ho just like that."
Wang Cuixia stood with her hands on her hips, cursing: "Don’t think that holding a knife matters; this is a society ruled by law now. We said we don’t know who Xu Ke is."
"Anyway, if you’re looking for soone, go search the village below."
The people, suspicious, were about to leave when a sound was heard, and Xu Ke returned carrying a bundle of firewood, along with two rabbits.
Seeing Xu Ke return, Wang Cuixia was particularly anxious, wondering how to handle this situation now as he had co back.
Upon entering, Xu Ke saw unexpected guests in the house, and Wang Cuixia had an odd deanor. So, he cleared his throat.
"Mother, who are these people? Why are they in our house?"
Xu Ke spoke, calling her "Mother," feeling uncomfortable, but Wang Cuixia perked up upon hearing it.
"If you’re looking for soone nad Xu Ke, son, we don’t have him in our village. Where are we supposed to find him?"
Wang Cuixia spoke, making the implication clear, and Xu Ke pursed his lips.
Those people compared Xu Ke, thinking his age matched the young man in front of them.
Yet the young man’s deanor didn’t suggest he knew Xu Ke, who was said to be in a vegetative state while the young man moved freely; they shook their heads quickly.
"What’s your na?"
The leader, broad-faced, asked, and Xu Ke tilted his head, knowing they looked ard and possibly hostile.
"Well, soone actually wants to know my na. Please sit, please sit."
Xu Ke spoke, setting down the bundled firewood and tying the rabbits together. "Though my na isn’t nice, my mother says it’s healthy for , so I’m called Tie Zhu."
Upon hearing this na, the people smirked slightly, a hint of mockery, and the leader snorted, leading his people out.
Wang Cuixia exhaled with relief when they left, almost collapsing if Uncle Li hadn’t supported her, while Xu Ke indifferently took the rabbits inside to start cooking.
Inside, he pondered who might have co, fearing they’d return, yet he knew nothing.
With the enemy in the shadows and him in the light, he couldn’t always play dumb to handle them.
Suddenly, the sa group reentered.
This ti, though, they didn’t target Xu Ke, instead asking Uncle Li, "What’s that hole in your pigsty for? What’s its purpose, and why did you co here after we asked?"
Detecting sothing amiss midway, they returned by the sa path, and Uncle Li waved, embarrassed.
"As you see, I’m single, and so is Cuihua, so..."
Uncle Li hadn’t finished when the people laughed seeing Wang Cuixia and him, then left.
Wang Cuixia sighed with relief, grateful Uncle Li found a way to fend them off, preventing exposure.
Soon, Xu Ke cooked the al bringing it over; not leaving yet, Uncle Li joined for the al with them.
"Though you slept long, your culinary skills are quite impressive."
Uncle Li sincerely praised, and Xu Ke smiled in gratitude: "Thanks for the kind words, Uncle."
Afterward, Wang Cuixia had Xu Ke and Uncle Li sit as she washed the dishes, and Xu Ke fetched sunflowers from the hills.
"You can keep these for yourself; there’s no need to give them to ."
Uncle Li reluctantly accepted the sunflower heads.
"Why did you co?"
Upon hearing Xu Ke’s question, Uncle Li stiffened slightly, forcing a smile.
