Chapter 1135: Double Mask Auction House
The replica of the Doppelganger Forest was smaller than the original in Limbo, but it still occupied a fairly large area and had no layers. All the energy ing from the source of madness integrated by the Kingdom was concentrated in this place, feeding Geminia herself and all the Doppelgangers.
“Wow!”
Idan admired the elegant two-story building, made of black stone and almost black wood. It had a maroon roof, narrow stained-glass windows, and a small turret on the side.
The facade of the building is almost perfectly symmetrical: two wings, two rows of windows, two statues at the entrance and a double door made of ebony. Above the entrance hung a coat of arms with two masks and a tree between them.
[Double Mask Auction House]
An auction house built by the doppelgangers under the strict supervision of Geminia herself. But what really surprised Idan was the news that Geminia’s own strange house was the core of this building.
As Idan approached the doors, they swung open, inviting him in.
As soon as Idan stepped through the door, he felt the familiar sensation of being watched and a lot of curious stares directed at him.
“Yes, she created an auction house that resembles her own house,” Idan thought. “I wonder if the guests won’t be scared when they feel such stares on them?”
The reception room that Idan entered was small, quiet, and luxurious. The floor was made of black stone with silver veins, and the walls were decorated with dark wood, decorated with carvings in the form of masks, leaves and closed eyes.
The light in the room was emitted by paired crystals, one of which was warm and the other cold. Because of this, Idan seemed to have a second shadow.
Against the far wall was a reception desk made of black wood and white stone.
“Wele,” an employee in an elegant black suit with a white shirt and a silver half mask hiding the upper part of her face greeted Idan. She had a smile on her face, both weling and creepy.
That smile alone was enough to realize that there was a Doppelganger standing in front of him. Idan nodded pleasantly in response.
“Are you here to meet the Ancestor or just to inspect the auction house?” the employee asked politely.
“Both,” Idan replied to her.
“Okay, then follow me. I’ll be happy to show you how the auction house, which was created by the Ancestor himself, works before taking you to her.”
The doppelganger, in the form of an employee, motioned for Idan to follow her. She confidently led him along the corridor leading to the main auction hall.
Idan followed her, noticing the closed doors on the sides, the quiet employees in half masks, and the mirrors in which his own reflection seemed to linger for a moment longer. The air was filled with the scents of wax, expensive wood, and something woody.
At the end of the corridor, the Doppelganger opened the double doors, and the main auction hall appeared in front of them. There were semicircular rows of chairs in the center, balconies for important guests on the sides, and a black table and a silver hammer on the stage.
Everything here looked exquisite, quiet, and dangerous, as if every item already knew its price.
After inspecting the main hall, an employee led Idan to the VIP balconies, which could acmodate up to four people at a time. She then showed him the appraisal room and the storage room for the lots.
At the end of the tour, she led Idan to a familiar door, the one that decorated Geminia’s strange house.
“The ancestor is waiting for you inside,” the employee bowed and immediately left.
The door creaked open, inviting Idan in. This was not his first visit to Geminia’s house, so he crossed the threshold without fear or excitement, finding himself in a familiar and unchanging hallway. Knowing where Geminia’s room was, Idan headed there.
As he expected, Geminia was inside, drinking tea with snacks and reading a book.
When she saw Idan, she put down the tea and, putting down the book, asked:
“How do you like what you saw?”
“To be honest, I’m very impressed. It turned out to be even better than I expected,” Idan replied, settling into an empty chair opposite her.
Pleased with the praise, Geminia nodded with satisfaction.
“So, what brings you to me?” she asked.
“I have two questions, Geminia. First of all, have you already selected suitable candidates? If not, I have some great candidates.” Idan got straight to the point, explaining the purpose of his visit.
“Oh, and who are they?” asked Geminia, curious.
“The Diamond-ranked Ashen Seraph, the Diamond-ranked Flaming Ifrit, and the Platinum-ranked Flaming Salamander.” Idan listed, naming the races of Livia, Salina, and Cecile.
“Creatures of Fire?”
“Yes, that’s right.” Idan nodded.
“Hmm… and what are they?”
“The Ashen Seraph is…” Idan leisurely began to tell everything he knew about the three women, including their appearance.
“I think I need to see them with my own eyes before making a decision.” Geminia concluded, carefully considering this question.
“What about the second question?” she asked.
“Secondly, I want to ask for permission to sign a contract with doppelgangers for my loved ones.”
“For your brother, grandmother, and the others?” Geminia asked with a smile.
“Yes, for them.” Idan wasn’t surprised Geminia knew about his private life. After all, she was a Rank 9 being, and her descendants, with whom she had a blood connection, were scattered throughout the Kingdom.
“Hmm…” — Geminia thought about it, and then looked at Idan with a smile. “You know, I’d like to see them. Your family, especially your grandmother.”
“Huh? Grandma?” — Idan asked, puzzled, and his eyes widened in surprise. “Don’t tell me you’re interested in her?”
“You could say that. But for a final decision, I want to see her myself and talk to her,” Geminia replied, not hiding her interest.
“You don’t mind that, do you?”
Idan didn’t answer her immediately. After a moment’s thought, he said:
“Me? No, I don’t mind.”
“She’s not interested in her because she’s my grandmother, is she?”
Idan couldn’t help but think about it, remembering that Sierra had taken his mother Ivette and Arabel’s mother Anna as disciples. And Lucinda took Inessa as a disciple.
As if reading his mind, Gemini smiled, confirming his guess.
