Chapter 1251: 958 Chapter Simulated Surgery_2 Chapter 1251: 958 Chapter Simulated Surgery_2 Lu Xiaolu was soone who impressed Yang Ping more and more as he got to know him, and if he really wanted to join the laboratory at Sanbo Hospital, Yang Ping was willing to communicate with Nandu dical University.

Li Yingtong had already taken care of her affairs in the United States and was now officially starting work at the laboratory of Sanbo Hospital. To show her importance, the laboratory director Tang Shun personally went to welco this beautiful doctor. Yang Ping had already ordered Tang Shun to retain this talented woman at all costs, and Tang Shun, after much thought, had no choice but to pull out all the stops.

The Digital Human project at Nandu dical University had been completed, and what remained was the refining of so details and the repair of so software bugs. Professor He invited Yang Ping to see the achievents of the new generation of Digital Humans. Academician Xiang was overwheld with excitent—he had never thought he’d see the success of physiological digital humans in his lifeti.

To support the Digital Human program, Nandu dical University established its own supercomputer server room. Based on the supercomputer, the physiological digital human created was leading internationally. On the massive screen, a three-dinsional human body hovered in mid-air, composed entirely of digital cells; it nearly simulated all of a human’s physiological functions.

The previous few tis Yang Ping had visited, he only saw parts of the digital human. Now, not only could he see the entire digital human, he could also use virtual reality technology to recreate the digital human and perform simulated surgeries using it.

Yang Ping put on the corresponding glasses and reached for the “surgical instrunts.” The combination of virtual reality technology and the digital human produced a magical effect; the digital human was lying in front of Yang Ping, very lifelike.

Yang Ping picked up the “surgical knife” and began to operate on the digital human. He cut through the virtual skin of the digital human’s chest. The tactile simulation was extrely delicate; the touch of the knife and the sensation of cutting through the skin felt incredibly real, much like an actual surgery.

As the knife cut down, just like in a real surgery, severed blood vessels of various sizes began to bleed, and the speed of bleeding, whether it could coagulate on its own, and the ti taken for coagulation—in all aspects—conford to that of a real human body. Yang Ping wiped the blood with a virtual gauze, then used a “Virtual Electrosurgical Unit” to stop the bleeding.

Then he cut layer by layer until the chest cavity was opened to reveal the heart. The digital human’s heart was throbbing vividly before him. He attempted to make a small incision in the heart with the knife, and blood spurted from the heart, imdiately causing the patient’s blood pressure to drop.

“Its physiological state simulates a real person; if it isn’t rescued in ti, it will die from blood loss,” reminded Director He, who was standing beside him.

Yang Ping did not intervene for the rescue; he let the blood from the digital human continue to spray, wanting to see how far Professor He’s digital human could mimic a person’s physiological functions. As the hemorrhage continued, the blood pressure kept dropping until the heart eventually stopped beating due to blood loss.

Only when the digital human’s heart had completely stopped beating did Yang Ping remove his glasses and put down the “instrunts” in his hand. Excited, Professor He asked, “How is it?”

Yang Ping gave a thumbs up. Professor He said, “The departnt wants to nominate this project for an Academician title, but I don’t think it’s fitting because I believe your contribution to this project is the greatest.”

Professor He was now completely satisfied. Whether he was nominated for Academician didn’t actually matter to him. His wish was to research physiological digital humans. He originally thought that achieving so foundational work would be successful; he hadn’t expected to reach success so directly. Yang Ping’s help had been the greatest, as the most critical foundational concepts and data were provided by him.

“I just gave an idea and so data, all the work was done by you. It’s like building a house; I just told you roughly how to build it and provided so engineering data, but the entire process of drawing and construction was all done by you. You deserve to apply for the Academician title; it’s an acknowledgnt and reward for your work. You must not shy away from applying. Once successful, you’ll have more resources, which will benefit further research on the digital human,” Yang Ping encouraged Professor He to apply for the Academician title.

Academician Xiang imdiately said, “That’s what I’m saying, don’t be like Kong Yiji who can’t get rid of his scholar’s robe. What’s wrong with striving for the Academician title with dignity? If you’re an Academician, people will take you more seriously when you speak; it’s beneficial for scientific research and for training talent.”

Professor He felt that both Yang Ping and Academician Xiang were right; he shouldn’t see these honors as just fa and gain. These honors were recognition of his achievents, and the purpose of seeking them was to bring greater benefits to the country and to science.

“I’ll have the major paper on my project published in your ‘dicine’ journal!” Professor He declared.

Yang Ping waved his hand: “Our journal isn’t quite prestigious enough yet. You would be better off publishing your conclusive paper in a top international journal, which will benefit your application for Academician.”

“Professor Yang, it’s rare for you to visit, so I have a suggestion for your journal,” said Academician Xiang, urging Yang Ping to sit down.

Yang Ping imdiately replied respectfully, “Please take your ti; I’ll write it down.”

“The way your ‘dicine’ journal operates is very innovative, using the internet as a primary dium and paper as a secondary one, which is convenient for publication and dissemination. However, I suggest you run the internet and paper versions concurrently. After all, the internet is not very mature and data is prone to damage. For now, the traditional paper journals are more reliable and appear more authoritative. You must issue a large volu of your print journal. Still, your current practice of compiling weekly issues is excellent; gathering a week’s worth of papers into a weekly journal,” Academician Xiang shared his thoughts.
