As long as you’re on the sa track, there’s no way to overtake on a curve; overtaking on a curve is just self-deception.
Yang Ping certainly understands this principle. If he continues to research adjuvants, even with the support of System Space, which provides ample trial and error experiences, he would still be a follower. Now he’s pondering whether he can switch tracks to completely overturn the table.
The purpose of vaccine adjuvants is to enhance antigenicity. If it were possible to develop a new technology that could also enhance immune antigens, such as using the loading technology of K Therapy to load a functional protein onto the vaccine, then he would achieve better enhancent than adjuvants, rendering adjuvants aningless.
Adjuvants are "immune boosters." Protein antigens have very weak ability to stimulate immunity on their own and need adjuvants to help "wake up" the immune system, not only making the immune response more enduring but also reducing the amount of antigen required.
However, adjuvants are not without flaws. They have many drawbacks, such as toxic effects, which can cause so side reactions.
It’s not new to develop vaccines without adjuvants. For instance, the newly erged recombinant immune complex vaccines have broken away from the adjuvant system and pioneered a new path. They rely on the complex ford between antigen and antibody to make antigens more readily "grasped" by antigen-presenting cells, inducing a strong immune response without external adjuvants.
Recombinant immune complexes upgrade and modify natural immune complexes using molecular engineering for a makeover. Through genetic modification, antigens and antibodies, or Fc segnts of antibodies, directly form complexes within the cells, which is the recombinant immune complex.
In terms of genetic recombination, Yang Ping is an expert. The modification of the K Virus employs genetic recombination technology, using adenovirus as a template to load or embed the K Factor and various other functional factors into the structure of the adenovirus, forming what is now known as the K Virus. Of course, it can no longer be called a virus; in terms of structure and function, it no longer belongs to the virus category.
By following this approach, Yang Ping realized that this line of thinking would lead him to vaccine research, which is not his goal. Yang Ping wants to study a universal modular substance that can replace adjuvants. This module, equivalent to the K Factor, can be loaded or embedded into any vaccine structure, enhancing antigenicity and reducing side effects.
After thinking it over, Yang Ping decided to research this topic using the concept of K Therapy. He will design a protein, bringing a brand new idea to vaccine design.
Adjuvants, he believes, were never a particularly good path. Those pharmaceutical giants have invested so much money and talent, and up to now have developed only five types of adjuvants, and these adjuvants have certain side effects, indicating that this path is not particularly wise.
Yang Ping has also analyzed carefully that adjuvants are indeed transitional technology. Future vaccines will inevitably be products of genetic recombination technology, no matter the thods used, ultimately relying on genetic recombination technology to address the issue.
