"Dean, you don’t need to worry about . You don’t understand research, just fussing over nothing." Yang Ping hung up on him.

It’s just like a young person hanging up impatiently on their nagging mother.

Oh, co on!

This guy hangs up after a few nagging words.

Dean Xia muttered a few words into the phone, but got no reaction.

Saying I don’t understand research? Back when we founded the institute, I was one of the three founding doctors.

I don’t understand research?

Back in the day—

Dean Xia paced back and forth angrily in the office, talking to himself.

After a few laps, he took a sip of tea to calm his anger.

Indeed, I don’t seem to understand research much now. It’s been over a decade since I last touched research. Nowadays, I don’t understand new thods, new equipnt, new concepts in research at all.

---

"Doctor Tang, immunology is my weak point. I want to catch up on immunology, but it can’t be done overnight. I’m afraid I’ll hold back the professor in this new project group. Can you help swap with soone who is more capable and willing to go?"

Ji Ning was pouring his heart out in Tang Shun’s office, listing many reasons why he didn’t want to join the new project group.

Tang Shun understood clearly; he was worried that this small project group wouldn’t accomplish much, wasting several years, while others might publish a few papers, leaving him with nothing, just sitting idle for years.

In research work, you must be willing. If you’re not willing, with no interest in the project, working will surely be depressing and passive, and it’s hard to achieve anything with that mindset.

Tang Shun pondered, who should he swap in now? Manpower is already tight.

There was a knock on the door at this mont. Since he was in conversation, Tang Shun said to the door, "Just a mont."

Probably the person outside didn’t hear Tang Shun’s voice and continued to knock. What on earth? Tang Shun got up and opened the door, finding Jiang Jitong standing there with a smiling face, "Director..."

"I’m busy right now, wait for outside." Tang Shun gestured with his chin to a chair on the side.

Jiang Jitong chuckled, "Director, I’ll just say a few words, won’t take up your ti. I heard that our institute is starting a new immunology project. I’m very interested in immunology and always wanted to get involved in it. Can you see if there’s an opportunity to recomnd for it?"

"You like immunology?" Tang Shun was quite surprised. "Didn’t you say you’re used to stem cells?"

"I like stem cells too, but I love immunology the most. Actually, I like all these projects, but there’s always a favorite. My favorite is immunology," Jiang Jitong nodded to emphasize his sincerity.

Tang Shun sized him up for a mont and then said, "Co in."

"I’ll wait outside, not to interrupt your conversation." Jiang Jitong pointed at Ji Ning inside.

Tang Shun, slightly impatient, said, "I said co in, just co in, quit dawdling."

Jiang Jitong entered, and Tang Shun closed the office door and sat back in his chair, with Jiang Jitong and Ji Ning seated opposite him.

"Jiang Jitong, do you really love immunology?" Tang Shun asked again, doubting his previous statents.

Jiang Jitong nodded, "This isn’t sothing to joke about; this concerns my research future."

"Alright, this junior here is new and called Ji Ning. You know him, right?" Tang Shun asked.

Jiang Jitong nodded, "How can colleagues from the sa lab not know each other? I’m just not very familiar with him yet."

"Right, we are establishing a new project group mainly for immunology research. Professor Yang will personally lead it. Because everyone in our lab already has their own projects, only five novices can be moved to form this project group, but Ji Ning just told he’s struggling, his immunology knowledge is quite weak, and he’s afraid of dragging the project behind. If you’re willing to switch, you’d replace him, and he’d take over your original work. Is that okay?" Tang Shun said straightforwardly.

"Sure!" Jiang Jitong responded promptly.

"And you?"

"Sure!" Ji Ning agreed promptly as well, genuinely not wanting to stay in a group that’s just doing perfunctory work.

"That’s settled then. Make sure you’ve thought it through. Once I confirm the list, don’t co back to change it. This is your own choice, under no circumstances co looking for to complain later. Understood? I don’t have ti for squabbles," Tang Shun warned.

The entire research institute is currently incredibly busy, severely understaffed. If people co to bicker about this every few days, it will severely affect work efficiency. Discuss any issues beforehand.

"No problem, rest assured." They answered in unison.

Tang Shun nodded and imdiately crossed off Ji Ning’s na and replaced it with Jiang Jitong’s, then put the list away, saying, "I’ll give you a week to complete the handover. Ji Ning is new, Jiang Jitong, be ticulous during the handover. It’s best to arrange for a senior colleague to guide him for a month, allowing him to integrate into the work quickly."

Jiang Jitong was as optimistic as ever, "Leave it to ."

The news about establishing a new project group was actually released intentionally by Tang Shun to observe any changes. Whether newcors are reluctant, whether any experienced researchers wish to join the new project, these situations would surely be communicated in private.

Unexpectedly, exactly this kind of situation arose, and Tang Shun had long seen through their play. They didn’t just run into each other but rather planned this beforehand. There’s no way such coincidences happen—wherever there’s strangeness, there’s an underlying reason.

Tang Shun simply facilitated the matter, sparing himself from doing additional work.

Because Tang Shun also pondered for a while, even though Professor Yang had clearly stated that novices must be involved to avoid affecting existing projects’ progress, having only five inexperienced mbers in the group isn’t very convenient. It would burden Professor Yang with many worries, which wouldn’t be suitable.

So Tang Shun kept thinking of a way to include an experienced doctor, allowing an experienced hand to ntor the new mbers, easing a lot of Professor Yang’s work.

Since these two had already privately planned and Ji Ning didn’t want to stay in the group, forcibly keeping him as a reluctant elent would indeed be unstable. On the other hand, Jiang Jitong, with his rich research experience and involvent in major lab projects, had balanced knowledge and no apparent weaknesses, making him the best fit to lead new mbers in the new project group.

As for his so-called love for immunology, that’s all nonsense. This guy is a smart cookie who seized a golden opportunity. Sotis choices matter more than effort.

"Thank you, senior brother!"

Exiting Tang Shun’s office, Ji Ning was genuinely grateful to Jiang Jitong. If it hadn’t been for Jiang Jitong volunteering to swap, he would have had no one to take his place.

"No need to thank, we’re all colleagues. Besides, I prefer immunology, and you’re weak in it. Being able to exchange benefits our future developnt." Jiang Jitong said courteously, thinking to himself: Just don’t badmouth in the future.

The new project group’s personnel list finally finalized, and Tang Shun once again individually spoke with the listed mbers. There were no objections, and everyone was willing.

Tang Shun then t with Jiang Jitong individually, instructing him to step up as the group leader in the new project group, act as a good assistant to Professor Yang, and familiarize the new mbers quickly. Professor Yang is usually busy, so don’t let him worry about trivial matters.

"Leave it to . I’ll handle everything after I join. I’m truly passionate about immunology. Professor Yang just needs to provide the project plan, and we’ll handle the rest," Jiang Jitong said passionately, almost ready to shout slogans with his fists raised.

Tang Shun thought for a mont and added, "If you run into any difficulties, let know privately. We must maintain close contact."

"Rest assured, leave it to ," Jiang Jitong reiterated confidently.

Indeed, five people were quite few, but Professor Yang disagreed with involving more or urgently recruiting more. When Tang Shun ntioned that five might not be enough, Professor Yang stated firmly that five would suffice.

Tang Shun pondered for a long ti, feeling he’d said all there was to say, and knowing he could always provide guidance to Jiang Jitong in the future.
