It was then that they suggested I go through another rejection, like they were claiming.
I stayed in my seat and watched them, noticing the tears on my cheeks. Why the fuck had I been crying a few minutes ago? I couldn’t rember.
What the fuck was this place? Who were these people? And who was the handso guy sitting right next to ?
Why the fuck was he staring at like I belonged to him?
"I’m tired," I muttered, letting them decide what to do.
At this point, I wasn’t going to throw a tantrum and assu they were trying to hurt . It was obvious they cared about and that sothing was wrong.
They were trying to figure it out. Instead of making it harder or forcing them to chase after , I stayed seated and let them find a solution.
"It doesn’t seem like Haiden wants to reject her," one of the girls spoke up.
She looked timid and tilted her head to the side, her expression open as she glanced at the bulky, muscled man nearby.
"That’s not what I said. When did I say that?" the man snapped at her.
So Haiden needed to reject . That ant he was my mate.
Who was she? And why was she upset?
"Well, it’s pretty obvious," the girl replied. "The minute Leysa suggested it, you were just staring at the guys. And I an, it’s fine. After we get divorced, after we reject each other, you can just marry her."
As she finished, I realized they were married.
It was just that we had a long history, so it took ti to process everything.
"I have to adjust to the idea," Haiden responded. "I need to see how I’ll feel rejecting her after chasing her for so long."
He didn’t offer much explanation, but I started piecing things together. Then he caught her hand and turned her toward him.
"I will reject her. I have you beside now. Why don’t you understand that I want you?" he insisted.

The girl pulled her hand free and crossed her arms over her chest, still defiant.
He slapped his forehead, then straightened when his eyes landed on .
I realized I had been staring at them too hard. I probably looked like a creep.
"Clentine," he murmured.
Suddenly, flashes of the past hit . His face. Our friends. Argunts. Fights.
Then it all faded again, gone in an instant.
"I loved you a lot," Haiden began, stepping closer before lowering himself onto one knee in front of .
"I did my best to steal you. I even pushed Oriana into Ian’s bathroom," he confessed. "I’m glad you don’t rember that."
As he said it, he rolled his eyes and pressed his hand to his chest.
Then his gaze shifted to Ian, who had been glaring at him like he wanted to hurt him.
"But I do think you don’t belong to . And to be honest, I’ve decided to pursue the woman I once left midway," he admitted.
As he spoke, he turned to the girl staring back at him, her arms still folded over her chest. She looked cute, giving him just the right attitude.
"I really wish you the best," he continued. "But I want to tell you one thing. Even after the rejection, we’ll still be friends. We’ll sit together and talk badly about our mates behind their backs."
He clicked his tongue and winked at , and I couldn’t stop the smile that ford.
Then he held out his hands.
Without thinking, I placed mine in his, and we rose to our feet, facing each other.
"I, Alpha Haiden, reject the wonderful woman, Clentine."
As soon as he spoke, a surge of energy slamd into .
My knees stopped trembling. Strength flowed back into my body.

"I, Clentine, accept your rejection."

He turned and hurried to his woman, pulling her into his arms. I saw the way she held him back without hesitation.
Then I felt arms wrap around from behind.
They were firm and warm. Ian.
I placed my hands over his and gripped tightly.
When I lifted my eyes, I saw soone else watching .
The flashes of my past were coming faster now. My body was regaining strength just as quickly, but I stayed quiet.
"I didn’t suggest this because I’m bitter toward you," the woman beside the other man spoke up.
I narrowed my eyes at her.

Leysa. My stepsister.
I would deal with her later.
Troy turned toward Leysa and smiled, brushing his fingers gently over her cheek before walking toward .
Their plan was working. How else could I suddenly recognize their faces and rember them so clearly?
"What can I say? I’m the douchebag who tried to steal you by stirring trouble between you and your mate, Ian," Troy confessed.
Ian released , stepping back as if he understood it was Troy’s turn.
"Just get it over with," I urged. "Reject so I can rember what you’re all apologizing for."
Troy’s eyes widened.
He looked at , then glanced at Leysa. She looked frightened.
I noticed the other couple reacting too, but a soft snicker ca from the handso man beside .
I turned toward him.
The smile on his lips filled with warmth.
And I knew I had said the right thing.
"I played too many gas with you. Especially when you told that you wanted to be with Ian, my body began reacting, and I was terrified of losing you. That is the truth. That is my only explanation." He paused to look down and sigh.
"But I think you cannot find anyone better than Ian. He loves you deeply, and you found your mate. He did not find another one because, in my opinion, Ian is the best option for you. It works out too. Look at destiny," he murmured, glancing away. "You marked him, and today you can only stay with him. You will have to reject everyone else. And honestly, I’m not upset about it," he continued, turning toward Leysa. "I’m happy for you."
His smile was genuine. Leysa noticed it.
"I, Alpha Troy, reject the most perfect woman in the world," he declared, lifting his chin.
As soon as he spoke, the sa thing happened to my body. A warm wave rushed through .
I drew a deep breath. Then I t his eyes.
"And I, Clentine, accept your rejection," I replied.

It felt as if I was finally free from whatever had been in my system. Then reality struck quickly.
