When everything returned to , I lost my mind. I began to realize that so of the things done to could have been avoided.
I broke down with Ian. We sat together on the bench, alone, while the others wandered around us, talking among themselves.
mories returned slowly. I began to understand that my other mates had found their partners, and I was genuinely happy for them.
Then I rembered Yorick. Rage surged through .
"I’m going to kill him," I muttered, lifting my head from Ian’s chest and looking straight into his eyes.
His jaw clenched. It was a clear sign he was on board with my mission.
"And I will be right beside you," he vowed, his fists tightening.
I turned my head and saw Leysa and Troy approaching us. Haiden and Fauna followed close behind.
"Are you okay now?" Haiden asked.
My eyes shifted to Troy. He moved slightly behind Haiden, trying to avoid my gaze.
"No," I replied, shaking my head as I rose from the bench. "I won’t be fine until I find Yorick and kill him with my own hands."
Ian stepped up beside and gave a firm nod.
I saw Haiden lower his head and exhale.
"I’m with you," he said.
Fauna nodded quickly and slipped her hand into her mate’s, showing support for our plan.
Leysa also seed ready. She looked prepared to hunt Yorick and his family down and make them pay.
Troy, however, hesitated. It was written across his face.
"Of course you don’t agree with us," I snapped before he could speak.
"Because you were going to do the sa," I added, reminding him how he had once planned to take away from everyone.
"If you had not found Leysa, you would have kept with you. You would have made suffer and forced to stay with you, just like Yorick did," I hissed, stepping away from Haiden so I could face Troy directly.
He had been hiding behind him.
Troy shut his eyes and drew in a small breath. Then he looked up.
"I would not have," he shot back.
"And no, Clentine, I was not going to force you, even if I had not found Leysa," he continued. "All I wanted was to spend ti with you. To win you over. To beco your hero. Do not put in the sa category as Yorick."
I looked away and drew in a deep breath before facing him again.
"But you agree with Yorick. That’s why you’re against torturing him, against killing him," I said, my jaw tightening.
I rembered how Yorick poisoned with food. How he kept under his control.
Troy stared at for a few seconds before sighing.
"I just think we should listen to him first," he uttered.
I shook my head.
"There will be no listening anymore," I stated. "Listening to him ans giving him another chance to fool ."
I was not going to let anyone deceive again.
"Well, Yorick is in the mainland. How are we going to get there?" Fauna asked, stepping in to shift the conversation.
"We’ll have to get out of here first," I replied, turning to Ian. "Do you have a key to the dark side fence?"
He bowed his head before shaking it.
"No. I changed my clothes, and the keys were taken away," he explained.
I rolled my eyes and muttered under my breath.
"The train already left, and I’m not sure when it’s coming back. Until then, we should look around and see what we can do here. It’s not like they’ll let us return to the mainland easily," Haiden suggested and I nodded.
At that point, everyone else was talking except Troy. He looked deeply upset that I had accused him.
I did not care at that mont.
"Let’s go," I uttered, walking away from the station.
Everyone followed.
A heavy silence settled for a few seconds. Then I heard hurried footsteps behind .
One of them was trying too hard to catch up. I knew exactly who it was.
"I’m so glad to see you’re doing fine," Leysa said, making slow down. I glanced at her, then looked ahead again.
"I’m angry at Yorick. I would have acted aggressively toward him too," she continued.
I frowned but did not stop. I kept moving and let her speak.
"There are a few things I need to tell you," she went on. "Now that you’re fine and I don’t have to take my anger out on anyone because you were sick."
I stopped and turned to her, shocked.
Slowly, I rembered how she had taken care of over the past few days.
A gentle smile rested on her lips as she watched in silence.
"Actually," she began again, clearing her throat, "Yorick refused to give you the dicine."
I lifted my palm to silence her.
"Leysa, he pushed Oriana into the devil’s den to be eaten alive. Then he pushed you. How can you still defend him?"
Everyone stopped around us and turned to face us.
"I agree with you," Leysa replied. "But you need to understand he was raised by parents who were drugging everyone. What makes you think they didn’t give him anything?"
I was too furious to listen. I did not want to hear anyone suggest that I should spare Yorick.
"That’s what I’ve been saying," Troy cut in, once again defending him.
"How can you say that?" Ian growled at Troy, raising his fist in warning. "He killed my child."
"All I’m saying is we might be targeting the wrong enemy," Troy insisted.
Then he looked at .
"He didn’t push Oriana to Charles."
Before I could remind him that Leysa had seen Oriana being shoved and killed, he added another claim.
"It was Suki."
Silence fell around us.
Troy explained what had happened. He said Joshua had summoned the sa shadow Earth Eater and used Oriana to bring Suki back. Together, they planned to do whatever it took to survive and escape the academy.
He also told us that Joshua had killed Mira.
"What?" I asked, staring at him in shock.
I had no idea about Mira.
When I heard it, tears filled my eyes.
Mira was the gentlest soul. She never held hatred toward anyone.
And Joshua killed her to save Suki, who had willingly entered soone else’s body to create chaos once she reunited with him.
I stood there, stunned at how wicked we had all beco.
