Looking at the beast at Yuan Lang handed over, Wu Yue shook her head. "I don’t eat raw at."
As she spoke, she held up her hand, which held a wild vegetable cake with a faint, charred scent. "I figured you wouldn’t be starting a fire while out hunting Fierce Beasts, so I brought my own food."
Yuan Lang chuckled and nodded. "Good."
’Truth be told, he wasn’t used to eating raw at either, but in Fierce Beast territory, it was better for them as Beastn to keep a low profile.’
The first night was spent amid the constant roaring of beasts. Perhaps because the Fierce Beasts’ active hours were different from the Beastn’s, the forest that was so tranquil during the dayti beca extraordinarily lively after nightfall. The sounds of animals running and roaring rose and fell in waves, a chilling chorus that made one’s skin crawl.
Wu Yue didn’t sleep soundly that night. Even though she was surrounded by the Beastn, she couldn’t help but worry that a Fierce Beast might break into their small canyon.
She drifted in and out of sleep like that until dawn. Just before daybreak, she sat up and ditated for a while, which finally restored her energy.
"Our target this ti is a herd of Saber-toothed Pig Fierce Beasts that lives near this canyon. We’ve already scouted ahead. There are four adults in the herd.
We old-tirs will handle the four adult Saber-toothed Pigs. The rest of the young ones are for you."
Yuan Qi looked over at the young Beastn.
Yuan Lang and the others nodded solemnly. "Alright."
’Speaking of pigs, Wu Yue couldn’t help but think of the wild boar she and Yuan Lang had encountered while gathering poisonous herbs. She’d heard that Fierce Beasts were even more savage and brutal than regular wild animals.’
They traveled at a brisk pace. The territory of the Saber-toothed Pig Fierce Beasts must have been close to the canyon, because Wu Yue felt she had only been observing her surroundings for a mont before the Beastn ca to a halt.
"This herd of Saber-toothed Pigs is so close to the canyon!"
Several middle-aged Beastn frowned.
Yuan Qi nodded. "That’s exactly why we chose them for this first hunt. If we let these things find their way to the canyon, our people will be in danger."
Wu Yue slid off Yuan Lang’s back. In a flash of light, a handso and powerfully built Beastman stood beside her.
"I’m going to put you up in that big tree ahead. Stay there and don’t move. If there’s any danger, shout for us."
Wu Yue nodded. "Okay."
The Beastman’s powerful arms stretched out and wrapped around her waist. He launched himself upward, and with just a few leaps, they landed on a huge fork in the branches.
After setting Wu Yue down and giving her a few more words of caution, he went down to rejoin the other Beastn.
Looking down at the tree branch, which was over two ters wide, Wu Yue marveled. ’This is the Beast World, all right.’
She circulated her witch power, forming a nearly invisible, pale yellow film of it over her body.
This film would mask her scent, preventing the local creatures from discovering her.
Sure enough, Uncle Yuan Qi had been right. As noon approached, a familiar grunting sound drifted from the distance.
Wu Yue looked in the direction of the sound, and the Fierce Beasts that ca into view completely redefined her concept of a pig.
Their bristles stood on end like steel needles, and their two sharp tusks glinted with a faint tallic sheen. Their beady, crimson eyes were filled with a cold, savage light.
Wu Yue could see that wherever they rooted, the ground looked as if a layer of topsoil had been scraped clean off.
As the Saber-toothed Pig Fierce Beasts drew closer, their enormous size made Wu Yue break into a cold sweat for the Beastn.
Their thick legs alone were as tall as the Beastn.
Perhaps sensing sothing was amiss, the lead male Saber-toothed Pig Fierce Beast let out a vicious roar and charged toward the hiding spot of Teng Qian and his brother.
