The spot she was lying on had been replaced by a soft, snow-white fur, which carried the crisp, clean scent of a Beastman.
Wu Yue looked at Yuan Lang, dumbfounded. "Is it a trend for you Beastn to carry Beast Skins around now?"
’I suddenly feel so unrefined.’
Yuan Lang chuckled. "Only special Beastn carry them."
Wu Yue’s hand, which was busy gnawing on a piece of fruit, froze. She looked at him in confusion. "Special Beastn?"
Yuan Lang nodded. "Mhm."
’Beastn like , with a special purpose.’
’There’s a good reason I brought a Beast Skin. That reason is you.’
anwhile, Teng Qian, having finished his at outside, returned to the cave. He was just about to curry so last-minute favor with the future witch before bed when he noticed that the Beast Skin at Wu Yue’s feet looked inexplicably familiar.
What was now wrapped around the young female’s slender fra, however, was a soft, clean, snow-white Beast Skin that looked infinitely better than his own.
’Damn it, which shaless bastard did this? Are they trying to extinguish even my last glimr of hope?’
He turned to look at the buddies behind him. ’Which one of you shaless beasts threw your own Beast Skin down for the young female to step on?’
"Teng Qian, co out for patrol."
But before he could ask, his leader’s voice ca from outside the cave.
He could only cast another forlorn glance at Wu Yue, who had already closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, before shuffling dejectedly outside.
Outside the cave, a handso Beastman with a tall, powerful build stood with his hands clasped behind his back. Moonlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled specks of light on the ground.
Yuan Lang turned, a wicked grin playing on his lips. He slung an arm around Teng Qian’s shoulder. "Co over here. I need to have a chat with you."
Thinking his leader had an important task for him, Teng Qian nodded solemnly and followed.
「A mont later...」
A rather disillusioned Beastman erged, trailing behind Yuan Lang.
The Beastn on patrol breathed a sigh of relief when they saw them. "You two, you went pretty far just to take a piss."
Yuan Lang said coolly, "It wouldn’t be good if the Shun Yuan found us nearby."
The Beastn were taken aback for a mont. Then, thinking of the Shun Yuan—the nightmare of all males—they nodded decisively. "You’re right. We’ll go farther out, too."
Behind him, however, Teng Qian gave his General a look full of profound aning. "Boss, I finally understand why you didn’t like the Princess back then."
Yuan Lang turned, raising a dark brow. "Oh? And why is that?"
Teng Qian gave a sleazy wink and snickered. "Because, Boss, you’re into romancing humans... AARGH! OW! OW!"
And so, on this dark and windy night, with nothing to be heard but the wind in the trees and the chirping of insects...
...wave after wave of miserable, stifled howls woke the Beastn in the cave.
A familiar voice, and the familiar sound of begging for rcy...
In the pitch-black cave, the Beastn’s shimring green eyes all lit up with the thrill of gossip.
"Sounds like that guy Teng Qian."
"From the sound of it, he’s definitely getting thrashed."
"And thrashed pretty hard, too."
"The night is long, and I can’t sleep. Why don’t we go watch the fun?"
And so, in an instant, the once-crowded cave was left with only the two Beastn assigned to guard Wu Yue, staring at each other in confusion, and... the person they were supposed to be guarding.
"Holy shit, how did that idiot Teng Qian piss off Yuan Lang?"
The Beastn huddled together behind a large tree, stealthily observing the epic tiger-beating and chattering excitedly amongst themselves.
Teng Kun, also hiding behind the tree with the other Beastn, watched his General’s ferocious display and shook his head.
’My brother, that idiot. He must have done sothing to really piss off the Boss.’
He silently ducked his head. ’At a critical mont like this, you have to protect yourself while enjoying the show.’
’A beast’s life ain’t easy. Gotta cherish what you’ve got.’
