But the next mont, that familiar snoring sound drifted down from above...
The corner of the System’s mouth twitched as it looked up, but its pupils instantly constricted as it nimbly leaped to the side.
It then watched, wide-eyed, as the female—who was pretending to ditate but was actually fast asleep—let a trickle of drool drip from the corner of her mouth right onto the hay where it had just been squatting.
It felt goosebumps erupt all over its body, and its disdain for the Dog Host climbed to a whole new level.
"SLURP~"
Peeking through a narrow slit, Wu Yue saw the System’s chubby body quickly dart away. She almost reached out to pin the little guy down and give it a baptism of her drool.
But when she rembered how the System beca utterly ruthless when it threw a tantrum, she sighed internally with regret.
She pretended to wake up with a loud slurp. "Oh, I must have dozed off. I’m just so tired. I’ll listen to you, System. Maybe I’ll dream about the solution."
With that, she flopped backward and was instantly asleep.
Staring at its host who had fallen asleep in an instant, the System could only gape with its big, round eyes, completely at a loss for words.
’This Dog Host is the absolute worst! As if I didn’t see that flicker of regret in her eyes. Trying to ambush with drool... She has no sha!’
Early the next morning, Wu Yue scrambled up and stretched out her foot to kick the System awake. It had been sleeping belly-up in a corner of the hay nest.
"Ti to get up and get to work!"
The chubby System gave a huge stretch, its body arching like a bridge. "YAWN~ Work on what?"
"Building the brick kiln!" Wu Yue replied as she picked up her Beast Skin shoes and started pulling them on.
Hearing that, the System’s yawn died in its throat. Its eyes went wide. "You’ve got to be kidding . I’m just a cute, adorable System. You want ** to build a brick kiln?"
Wu Yue’s hands paused. She scoffed, "And I’m an invincible, beautiful, and adorable maiden, but I still have to go build a brick kiln, don’t I?"
The System choked on its words. It slowly got to its feet and sighed at its host’s limping back. "Did you get a leg cramp in your sleep?"
Wu Yue frowned. "I don’t know why, but today it feels like one of my legs is longer than the other..."
A thought struck her, and she suddenly spun around to face the System. Her fierce glare instantly banished the last traces of sleep from its mind. "Wh-what? Why are you looking at like that?"
Wu Yue limped over and grabbed the System’s chubby front paw. "Tell , did those Body Strengthening Pills you gave have so kind of side effect?"
The System’s face went blank. "Huh?"
It then realized the Dog Host was questioning its credibility and flew into a rage. "How dare you doubt the great System’s reputation! System products are guaranteed to be of the highest quality! There are absolutely no fakes, shoddy goods, or side effects!"
Seeing the Little Commander looking both furious and pitifully wronged, Wu Yue rubbed her nose. She had a feeling she really had accused the Little Commander unfairly this ti.
"Well, I was just wondering, you know? It’s not like one of my legs would just start growing on its own for no reason."
The System choked. "What kind of bizarre creature do you think you are?"
With that, it got down on the ground to look at the bottom of her feet. A mont later, its little face froze. It shot its host a look of utter contempt and said, "Lift your foot and see for yourself!"
Scorned by her own System, Wu Yue sat down sheepishly in the hay. She bent her leg to look at the sole of her Beast Skin boot, her eyes full of confusion. "What is this?!"
The sole of the boot, which she had made with two layers of Beast Skin, was now caked with a thick layer of mud, mixed with the ant eggs she had crushed the day before.
The sole, which would normally only pick up a bit of dust, now looked like it had been coated in so powerful adhesive. The gunk was stuck so firmly to the bottom that she couldn’t even scrape it off.
Looking at the boots she hadn’t worn for long, Wu Yue felt her heart bleed. "My brand-new boots!"

Feeling the little paw pad on her face, Wu Yue calmly plucked it off, gave it a squeeze, and narrowed her eyes in comfort. "So soft~"
The System’s face filled with horror. "Host, you’re acting like so kind of pervert right now!"
Wu Yue shot her drama-queen System an annoyed look. "Were you going to say sothing about all this mud getting stuck to my sole?"
The System snatched its paw back, frustrated. "Host, you have to let your Little Commander show off its intelligence once in a while!"
