The Scorpion Beastman Captain took the ’stone’ from the Angry Beast and examined it from every angle for a long ti. Finally, his eyes lit up. "This is..."
He turned and moved closer to the wall, pressing the ’stone’ in his hand against it. A mont later, his eyes were gleaming. "Is this the stone the Snow Tiger Tribe uses to build their houses?"
The Angry Beast chuckled and nodded. "It took a lot of trouble to steal this. The Snow Tiger Tribe guards these stones they make very well, not letting us get near them."
"They make them?"
The Scorpion Beastman Captain looked astonished.
’Aren’t all stones gathered? Don’t they just gather this kind of stone and polish it?’
The Angry Beast nodded. "I’m sure of it. Once, when I was out gathering stones, I was hiding in the bushes and heard a few Snow Tiger tribesn walk by. They said that if you want to build a house, you have to go back and make these things called ’bricks’ yourself."
The Scorpion Beastman Captain sidled up sneakily to the Angry Beast. "So, do you know how to make this kind of stone?"
The Angry Beast shot him a look. "What are you thinking? You got caught the second you set foot in the Snow Tiger Tribe, and now you want to get their thod for making stones? You have no idea how ferocious that little female is.
"She looks all smiles every day, but she’s actually the most terrifying one."
In the end, the two beastn tossed aside the problem of how to steal the brick-making thod and instead spent half the night discussing just how terrifying Wu Yue was.
The next day, the Snow Tiger Tribe was as lively as ever. After finishing her food, Wu Yue’s thoughts turned to the salt brought by the Yan Yan Tribe, her eyes darting about.
"Host, what mischief are you plotting now?"
The System was clutching a piece of Rock Ore bigger than its own head in its two chubby paws, gnawing on it with a loud CRUNCH. Chewing away, it scooted its fat bottom back a few steps, distancing itself from its devious host.
Seeing it act like it wanted to be a mile away from her, Wu Yue chuckled mischievously and walked toward it. "My dear System, why are you so far away? Am I not your most beloved host?"
The System’s small, furry face stiffened. "The way you’re smiling makes think you’re planning on doing sothing bad to ."
Wu Yue shot it a disdainful look. "With you looking like a kitten right now, what kind of ’ideas’ could I possibly have about you? You’re really overthinking things."
The System huffily finished gnawing on the Rock Ore in its paws. Just as it was about to stand up, it felt the flesh on its bottom jiggle a few tis. Its chubby little face imdiately fell.
It looked dejectedly at its host, who was still sorting wild vegetables, then listlessly hopped over to Wu Yue’s feet. It reached out a small paw and scratched at her Beast Skin boots. "My dearest Host."
Hearing its own System’s disgustingly syrupy cry, the goosebumps on Wu Yue’s body danced rrily. She looked down with a disgusted expression. "Speak normally."
The System said with a mournful expression, "Do you think I’ve gotten fatter recently?"
Wu Yue looked down and studied the System for a mont before saying with a completely straight face, "How are you fat? You’re nothing but skin and bones."
Hearing its host say that, the System’s guilt from eating that huge piece of Rock Ore vanished instantly. It felt delighted. "Really?"
Then it saw its host nod with great certainty. "Mhm. It’s just that your skin is a bit thick."
System: "..."
’I was so naive,’ it thought. ’To actually believe my Dog Host was capable of saying sothing nice.’
"Wu Yue!" Just as the two were bickering, the Snow Tiger Witch’s voice suddenly ca from outside the door. Because he was deliberately lowering his voice, it didn’t sound like he was there on official business.
At that thought, the corner of Wu Yue’s mouth twitched. ’Ever since we built the houses, the Snow Tiger Witch has been sprinting down the path of sneakiness without looking back.’
"I’m in here. Please, co in."
Her words had barely faded when the door was pushed open. The Snow Tiger Witch walked in, followed by two Half-beastman Warriors, each carrying a basket on their back.
Wu Yue was speechless at the sight. ’So why were you acting like you were about to sneak into my house and steal my chickens? Aren’t you followed by two Half-beastman Warriors?’
The Snow Tiger Witch chuckled, the wrinkles on his old face bunching up like a blooming chrysanthemum. "Yue, have you eaten those dirt clods you traded for from Tutou?"
Wu Yue froze, her expression turning a bit awkward. ’Could I really admit I’d completely forgotten about them?’
"I put them in the storehouse and forgot all about them."
She said, scratching her head in embarrassnt.
"I knew you’d forgotten! I’ve been waiting for days, but no delicious food made from those dirt clods ever appeared. So, I waited until those other old-tirs went to the trading ground, shook them off, and snuck over here."
