"Thirsty? You’re thirsty even at ho! You two go back, I’ve filled my water bottle!" The Rat had long seen through their intentions. Escape? No way!
"I really am thirsty!" Mu Mian looked at him pitifully. "The water in the bottle is supposed to be for use on the road. If I drink it all now, what will we do later? I’m thinking about everyone. How can you accuse like that?"
"Really?"
Mu Mian nodded emphatically. "Really! I’m not lying to you!"
"Alright then." The Rat pulled the two of them aside and handed the water bottle to Mu Mian. "Drink it! Finish it, and then go. I’ll refill the bottle myself!"
"Okay." Mu Mian took the bottle and imdiately opened the lid, gulping it down.
After finishing, she handed the bottle back to The Rat. "Go refill it. We’ll head back first!"
"Alright." The Rat nodded, watched as they obediently returned to the group, and then turned to walk toward the wonton shop.
As soon as he stepped inside, he spotted An Hao and the group of three sitting by the door, eating.
When his eyes swept over An Hao and Yan Ye, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, as if he had seen these two people sowhere before.
Yet, in his mory, he didn’t recall ever crossing paths with anyone in the dical field.
"What would you like to eat, sir?" The shop owner approached to welco the new guest.
"Oh, boss, I’m from the neighboring city. Ca to buy so things, and it’s already late. My water bottle is empty. Would you mind if I fill it with so hot water here?" The Rat asked.
"Of course! The thermos is over there. Help yourself." The owner pointed to the floor near the kitchen door, where two thermoses were sitting.
The Rat walked over, crouched down, and while refilling the bottle, desperately searched his mind for where he had seen those two people.
anwhile, Yan Ye’s group was finishing their al.
An Hao got up to settle the bill, but Dr. Lu stopped her. "We agreed I’d pay. How could you take out money now? Leave it to !"
"How can I let you? These past couple of days, I haven’t spent a single penny while eating out. I can’t keep letting you cover everything!" An Hao said apologetically.
"If it bothers you, treat us when we get back to Nancheng! How about that?" Dr. Lu pulled out two bills from his wallet and handed them to the owner.
"Deal. It’s settled then!"
"Fine, but I expect to taste Nanguofeng’s dishes. You wouldn’t begrudge that, would you?" Dr. Lu joked.
"Absolutely not! Eat to your heart’s content!"
Yan Ye wiped his mouth after finishing and gave Dr. Lu a thumbs-up. "Impressive! You managed to trade a wonton al for a feast at Nanguofeng. Brilliant!"
"Haha! Thanks for the praise!" Dr. Lu laughed heartily.
Just then, The Rat finished refilling the bottle. When he heard "Nancheng" and "An Hao," a fragnt suddenly flashed in his mind.
He finally rembered where he had seen them.
It was in the newspaper!
He quickly stood up, thanked the owner, grabbed the water bottle, and rushed back to Mu Qiankun’s side.
"Where did you go? Took you long enough!" Mu Qiankun asked irritably as The Rat returned after quite so ti.
"Kun-ge, I’ve stumbled upon an excellent cover. Do you dare to use it?" The Rat asked quietly.
"Why wouldn’t I? As long as it helps us survive this trip, I’ll take anything!" Mu Qiankun replied through gritted teeth.
