Two days ago, Tian Niu went to the market to buy sothing for Gu Shuangshuang, and he did encounter a girl.
The girl seed to have fallen ill. She was lying on the ground alone, trembling all over, and even struggling to breathe. When Tian Niu saw this, he imdiately rushed over and helped the girl off the ground.
He then dispersed the surrounding crowd.
The girl appeared to get much better, so Tian Niu helped her over to the shaded path near the park at the center of the street for so rest.
The girl had barely managed to say the word "Thank" to him before she began having trouble breathing again. She tugged at her clothes forcefully, taking big, gasping breaths.
Tian Niu asked her what was wrong and whether she needed help from him, such as going to the hospital. She shook her head and refused, simply asking Tian Niu to help buy dicine for her.
Tian Niu took off running to fetch the dicine. When he returned and handed it to her, the girl swallowed it, and her condition quickly improved.
The girl was incredibly grateful to Tian Niu. She offered him all the money she had on her to thank him for saving her life.
Of course, Tian Niu simply wouldn’t accept anything from her. He refused her money and belongings and then left.
What he didn’t expect was that his mother-in-law, Duan Aihua, happened to witness this scene at that mont. She misunderstood the situation, assuming he was removing the girl’s clothing, and saw her labored breathing along with Tian Niu dashing away afterward.
"That’s how it happened. Shuangshuang, I, Tian Niu, am completely loyal to you. How could I possibly deceive you? Stop being so suspicious all the ti, okay? Who says you’re not pretty? In my eyes, you’re the most beautiful," Tian Niu said emotionally.
"Listen, just listen to yourself! Shuangshuang, what am I supposed to say to you?" An Hao said, exasperated. "Even soone like could see through this right away, but Gu Shuangshuang is so confused! Tell —did you get pregnant and lose all sense of reason?"
"An Hao... isn’t that a bit harsh?" Gu Shuangshuang murmured, bowing her head and stroking her belly. "I was just... just so angry after hearing about this from my mom... isn’t it all because I care about him so much?"
"You’re too caught up in the situation! Shuangshuang, this isn’t entirely your fault. But Tian Niu has always been the man you love; you ought to have better judgnt about him, shouldn’t you?" Qin Jian said as he patted Tian Niu on the shoulder. "I personally trained him, so I can vouch for his character! Shuangshuang, can you trust on this one?"
"Mm-hmm." Gu Shuangshuang nodded quickly, looking sheepishly at Tian Niu. "I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have doubted you! Will you forgive this ti?"
"Look what you’re saying. You’re my wife; I don’t mind being wronged by you. But what I don’t want is for you to feel upset, especially now that you’re about to give birth, with a baby in your belly! Seeing you so sad makes feel terrible," Tian Niu said, gripping his hair and half-crouching on the ground.
"Don’t beat yourself up. This whole thing is completely Gu Shuangshuang’s fault. Honestly, she’s pregnant and her brain’s practically gone dumb because of it. All her wits seem to have transferred to the baby in her tummy!" An Hao blurted unforgivingly, her quick tongue making Gu Shuangshuang blush deeply.
"Alright, that’s enough from you. Do you ever stop criticizing ?" Gu Shuangshuang pursed her lips, a regretful look on her face. Maybe An Hao was right—perhaps she really had lost her mind over the baby.
The man she had chosen herself, and yet she hadn’t even trusted him.
Still, you couldn’t entirely bla her. After all, Tian Niu wasn’t steadfast before marriage; otherwise, she wouldn’t have doubted him now.
"Shuangshuang, let’s find a place to talk! I’ve got a few things I need to tell you!" An Hao proposed.
