The swordsman knew at this rate that he was going to die by drowning. Of course, the water drowning him is special, but dying this way and not at his enemy’s hands was clearly an insult to him.
He had two choices to pick from. The first option is that he could refuse to regenerate his flesh so as not to waste his lifespan dying this way. But this option would cause his Cave Heaven to beco exposed when his body is destroyed.

In a situation where an enemy can kill you outside of your Cave Heaven, it is unlikely that you will be able to gain any advantage within your Cave Heaven. In fact, it is more likely that your Cave Heaven will be destroyed by exposing it.
The second option is to accept his loss, keep expending his lifespan to protect his Cave Heaven, and die without a chance to turn the tide.
He will die if he picks this second option. But that will be the end of it, and he will have a chance to return later in the future through reincarnation.
After weighing his options, the swordsman decided to stop regenerating. He wanted to expose his Cave Heaven and lure Loki into it.
He is sure that he will have a better chance of winning within his Cave Heaven because he will have the enhancent of his Cave Heaven and all of his law fragnts within his Cave Heaven. So he won’t be handicapped the way he is in the second heaven.
At the very least, he expects that the fight can’t turn out worse than what it currently is because he and the enemy are both rank 6. Since the size of his Cave Heaven is extraordinary among rank 6 cultivators, he is confident that he will be able to turn the tide with the help of his Cave Heaven.
If they were in the first dinsion, he would never go with this option because he would already have the amplification of his Cave Heaven in the first dinsion, and because the enemy can destroy the exposed Cave Heaven from the outside without going into it.
But here in the second dinsion, he is sure that Loki won’t be able to destroy his Cave Heaven because Loki is also handicapped and also can’t summon the power of his Cave Heaven.
Ultimately, he is unwilling to die like this as a bona fide and talented rank 6 cultivator to another rank 6 cultivator. Plus, he believed that whatever tricks Loki was using to enhance his power unnaturally would not work under the suppression of the Cave Heaven.
So he stopped regenerating his body, which allowed the lake water to finally lt his body away. With his body gone, the golden fla on his head expanded into a star.
Loki was standing in front of the golden star. As he looked at the golden star, he saw the scene of a small world within the golden star. He also saw the swordsman standing within the golden star and beckoning to him.
The things he saw made his eyes light up imdiately.
Loki’s eyes were shining with excitent as he said, "And here I thought there was nothing I could gain in this fight. Looks like I was very wrong."
He had resorted to using the lake to drown the swordsman because he couldn’t mark the swordsman’s Cave Heaven, and because the Devouring Ability wasn’t strong enough to strip the swordsman’s body.
The Devouring Ability uses the power of his Cave Heaven to support itself. Since he can’t use the power of his Cave Heaven here, the Devouring Ability has beco too weak to devour the body of the rank 6 swordsman.
This inability to summon the power of the Cave Heaven is also why he can’t mark the swordsman’s Cave Heaven to use the Siphon Ability and Seal Ability on the Cave Heaven. It is also why he won’t be able to devour the Cave Heaven even if he wins the fight.
There was a possibility that he could find the Cave Heaven of the swordsman after killing him by using his Power Identification Ability to search everywhere. But the chances of success for that were low.
So he was prepared for this fight to be a total and complete loss of lifespan for him. But here the swordsman has given him a chance to turn the tide.
He wanted to jump into the Cave Heaven imdiately and give the swordsman the shock of his life. But before taking that step, he used the Power Identification Ability on the Cave Heaven.
