“Hm?”

Eugene spun around on his heel, sliding backward in a swift maneuver to put distance between himself and the newcor.

He stared warily at Molbai, who had materialized out of nowhere.

“So you’re the one who’s been making my life miserable!”

“If there’s no one else around ddling, then yes, it was . Also......”

RUSTLE......

A pile of sand surged up around Molbai’s feet, and a wand erged from the grains, standing upright beside him.

He reached out his right hand and wrapped his fingers around the wand’s hilt.

“This is going to be a hassle—but I suppose I’ll have to finish you off right here.”

A vein throbbed on Eugene’s forehead.

“Bold words~! Co on then! Let’s see who kills who!”

“.......”

“......”

BOOM!

Without any warning, the ground beneath his feet suddenly caved in, revealing a bottomless crater where he had stood re monts ago.

He was about to plumt into the abyss—

When a wave of sand ca flying in from the side, coalescing beneath his feet to form a solid foothold.

Planting his feet firmly, Eugene pointed his greatsword at Molbai and charged forward with a burst of speed.

THUD——!

The tip of the sword lunged straight for Molbai’s chest. But the latter waved his wand with a flick of his wrist.

BOOM!

The earth around them roiled violently.

Scores of sand pythons coiled upward, forming a defensive wall in front of him—and launching a relentless barrage of attacks at Eugene simultaneously.

SWISH!

Eugene swung his sword, slicing one sand python clean in half. The earth-elent mana within the creature destabilized instantly, and the entire python dissolved into a pile of loose sand that scattered across the ground.

“Sigh,” Molbai sighed, “as expected—this is going to be a pain.”

Despite his complaint, his attacks grew even more ferocious.

BOOM! BOOM!

More and more sand pythons burst forth from the ground, their assaults interspersed with sharp, jagged rock shards hurtling through the air.

The endless stream of attacks blinded Eugene’s vision. He could only rely on his mana sense to lock onto the direction of Molbai’s magical energy.

The battle dragged on in this stalemate for what felt like an eternity.

“Got you——!”

Eugene roared triumphantly. A forest of rock lances erupted from the ground beneath him, piercing straight toward his target.

BOOM!

A sand barrier was shredded to pieces.

Molbai’s figure reappeared in his line of sight.

Molbai waved his wand, unleashing the exact sa attack to et Eugene’s head-on.

“Hmph! Nowhere to run this ti!”

His probing strike had failed, but Eugene didn’t care. At this distance, there was no way Molbai could dodge his sword.

“Run?”

Molbai said flatly,

“You seem to have misunderstood sothing.”

“The one who should be running is you. Take a look at your feet first.”

“Hm?”

Eugene glanced downward—and his face paled instantly.

“Crap! How did I end up back in this thing again!”

He whirled around and tried to flee, desperate to escape the trap.

But Molbai had no intention of letting him go.

BOOM!

The earth around Eugene churned violently once more, and a deluge of attacks rained down on him from all sides.

“Damn it all——!”

Eugene fought back with all his might.

But he knew deep down.

Escaping once had been a stroke of luck. Escaping a second ti would be next to impossible.

Just as his situation grew more and more perilous—

BOOM——!

A sea of flas erupted from nowhere, blasting apart a massive amount of sand and carving an opening for Eugene.

“What the hell? That’s——”

Eugene froze in shock.

Not far away, Molbai’s expression darkened slightly.

“Reinforcents have arrived......”

He’d been so focused on his opponent that he’d let his guard down against outside threats.

“Heard you yelling your head off from a mile away. Thought you were a goner—but looks like you’re still breathing, huh?”

A dwarf wielding a warhamr stepped into view in front of Eugene.

“Charkin? What the hell are you doing here?!”

“Oi.”

Charkin huffed in annoyance,

“That’s how you thank your savior? Get down on your knees and grovel in gratitude to Lord Charkin!”

“Cut the crap and answer my question properly!”

“Tch!”

Charkin clicked his tongue, then said,

“I’m here to take down those pillars, obviously. Already took out two of ’em. Didn’t expect to run into you here, though.”

“Speaking of which—you look like absolute garbage. Don’t tell you haven’t even taken down a single pillar yet?”

“Not my fault I got stuck fighting this guy right off the bat! Anyway, since you’re here—help take him down!”

Despite his irritation at Eugene’s attitude, Charkin hefted his warhamr in both hands.

“I don’t like your tone one bit—but the mission cos first. So——”

His gaze locked onto Molbai in the distance,

“Sorry about this, but you’re outnumbered now.”

“......”

Molbai stared at the two dwarves, letting out a long, helpless sigh.

“Sigh...... Normally, this would be the part where I make my escape, but...... Ugh, this is such a hassle.”

He shook his head, tightening his grip on his wand.

“Retreat isn’t an option today.”

BOOM——!

The mont the words left his mouth,

the ground shook violently beneath their feet.

“What the hell? Is this guy actually this strong?!”

Charkin exclaid in shock.

“Ah,” Eugene slapped his forehead, “forgot to warn you—this entire area is his trap.”

“......”

“.......”

“You should’ve warned before I walked into it, you idiot!”

......

WHOOSH——!

A bitter, biting wind howled across the landscape.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM......

Amidst the ice and snow, Sandor threw punch after punch, shattering the icebergs that kept materializing around him.

But for every iceberg he destroyed, two more rose to take its place, hurtling toward him relentlessly.

“Damn it! This never ends! And——”

“It’s so cold!”

A thick layer of frost had ford on his fur. He’d been channeling mana to ward off the chill, but it wasn’t enough to keep the cold at bay. If his mana reserves weren’t so enormous, his blood would’ve frozen solid by now.

Bracing himself against the wind, he stared grimly at the white-cloaked figure in the distance—who hadn’t moved a single step since the fight began.

“What kind of magic is this guy using......”

He’d never heard of ice magic with such terrifying corrosive properties.

Anyone with mana vastly inferior to hers would be frozen solid in the blink of an eye!

Sandor shuddered.

Thankfully, she’d chosen to fight him one-on-one. If she’d unleashed this power on a battlefield full of soldiers......

Every single soldier within the range of her ice domain would die instantly.

She was a walking natural disaster.

It was a miracle that no real fighting had broken out back in Helinks. Otherwise, she alone would’ve spelled doom for the entire region.

It was all thanks to Lord Monroe being there.

Looks like I’ll have to find a way to thank him properly soti......

BOOM——!

Without warning, a scorching crimson beam streaked across the sky from the distance.

It pierced through every iceberg in its path, lting them into puddles of water in an instant.

Kina tilted her head up slightly—making the first move she’d made since the battle started.

BOOM!

The searing beam shot past the spot where she’d been standing, continuing on into the distance.

Seconds later,

BOOM!

A massive fireball erupted on the horizon, lighting up the sky.

“Oi, you orc over there!”

A voice rang out from behind Sandor.

“You hear ?”

“Tch! Are you already dead or sothing?”

Sandor turned around in a daze, staring in confusion at the dwarf who had appeared behind him, carrying a massive cannon barrel over his shoulder.

“Am I......”

Suddenly, his eyes widened, and realization dawned on him.

Then—

SLAP——!

He delivered a hard slap to his own face.

“???!”

Aznov stared at him, completely bewildered.

He leaned forward cautiously and asked,

“A-Are you...... okay?”

“YOU BASTARD——!!!”

Sandor roared, his eyes turning bloodshot with rage.

“Did the cold make so delirious that I forgot where I was and what I was doing?!”
