SPLASH!

He bit down hard on the tip of his tongue, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. The searing pain jolted his nerves, clearing the fog from his mind.

He lifted his head, his bloodshot eyes blazing with fury as he stared at Kina in the distance.

“......”

Aznov silently shuffled back a step, putting a little more distance between himself and the enraged orc.

“ROAR!!!”

Sandor threw his head back and roared to the heavens.

In the next instant,

he shattered the ground beneath his feet and charged at Kina with earth-shattering montum.

Aznov watched his retreating figure with a weirded-out look on his face.

“What’s with this orc...... is his brain fried or sothing?”

“h, not my problem.”

Aznov propped the cannon barrel back onto his shoulder, taking aim at Kina once more.

“The important thing is taking this chick down first! Hehe, she’s this strong—she must be the enemy leader! If I can take her out, this rit’ll make the boss for sure! Hehehehe......”

HUM!

The cannon muzzle glowed brighter and brighter, terrifying amounts of mana swirling and condensing within it.

When it reached the breaking point—

BOOM——!

All the mana erupted forth as a crimson annihilation beam.

Kina retaliated instantly.

Layer upon layer of icebergs erupted from the ground, rising like a towering wall.

The crimson beam lted dozens of icebergs before finally detonating in a blinding explosion.

A massive fireball billowed outward between the combatants.

The terrifying shockwave lted the permafrost on the ground in the blink of an eye.

But just as the shockwave was about to reach Kina’s position, a blizzard descended from the sky, snuffing it out completely.

“Tch! Tough cookie. Good thing that athead’s charging in first.”

With that, the muzzle on Aznov’s shoulder began to gather mana once again.

Up ahead, Sandor had already closed in on Kina.

His powerful palm strikes shattered the ice walls she conjured one after another.

BOOM——!

The crimson beam streaked across the battlefield once more.

For a ti, flas and frost clashed violently in the air, weaving a chaotic tapestry of destruction.

The three-way battle had reached its white-hot peak.

......

Southeastern Ilz.

Near one of the crimson pillars of light.

BOOM!

Countless bolts of lightning exploded across the ground.

Freydia’s body was wreathed in crackling thunder as she moved with blinding speed, her eyes constantly scanning for an opening in her opponent’s defenses. The Thunder Demon Sword in her hand was ready to deliver a killing blow at any mont.

“Here’s my chance!”

BOOM——!

A terrifying bolt of lightning shot toward Pujeliru’s back, aid straight for her heart.

But it was as if Pujeliru had eyes in the back of her head. She flicked her rapier backward, blocking the attack with effortless ease.

She quickly retracted the rapier, gathered her strength, and thrust it forward at even greater speed.

Freydia leaned backward, narrowly dodging the white sword aura that sliced past her forehead—leaving a shallow gash on her cheek.

BOOM!

Seizing the opportunity, she flipped the Thunder Demon Sword upward and slashed horizontally.

CLANG!

Her strike was blocked yet again.

Then, Freydia felt a trendous force surge through the sword.

In the next instant,

her body was sent flying backward violently.

SWISH!

Before she could regain her balance, Pujeliru closed in on her, the tip of her rapier glowing like a shooting star falling from the night sky, closing in relentlessly.

SLASH!

The white light pierced Freydia’s shoulder.

“Ugh!”

Freydia’s face twisted in pain as she gritted her teeth and stared at Pujeliru, whose rapier was still embedded in her flesh.

BOOM——!

She unleashed a burst of violent thunder from her entire body, destroying everything in her imdiate vicinity.

Pujeliru darted back, putting distance between them.

Drip. Drip......

Blood stread down Freydia’s arm and splattered onto the ground.

Her right arm hung limply at her side.

Pujeliru stood safely out of range, her expression calm as she flicked her rapier to shake off the bloodstains. The thunderstorm hadn’t even grazed her—her clothes were still spotless.

“......”

Freydia silently placed her left hand over her injured shoulder.

CRACKLE——!

Electricity sparked from her palm, and a wisp of black smoke rose from her wound.

“Ugh!”

Freydia let out a pained gasp, her face turning pale.

After a long mont,

she slowly lifted her hand.

Her shoulder was charred black, but the bleeding had stopped.

She tightened her grip on the Thunder Demon Sword with her limp right hand.

CRACKLE!

The sword blazed with brilliant lightning once more.

Pujeliru watched her, making no move to attack while she was vulnerable.

“Why are you fighting so desperately?”

“......I already told you.”

BOOM——!

Freydia’s body transford into a bolt of lightning once again, charging forward.

“I’ve long since forgotten the reason.”

Faced with the oncoming thunderbolt, Pujeliru let out a deep sigh.

“Sigh......”

Then, her rapier was engulfed in a violent white demonic aura, its power so overwhelming that it completely obscured her figure.

SWISH——!

White light and thunder crossed paths in an instant.

The white light ca to a halt a hundred ters away, and Pujeliru’s figure reappeared, still holding the pose of her strike.

Behind her, the thunderbolt also stopped.

“......Gasp.”

A mouthful of blood spurted from Freydia’s lips.

Her body swayed unsteadily, and she dropped to one knee, using the Thunder Demon Sword to prop herself up, her clothes quickly soaking up the blood.

Pujeliru turned around, looking at the slender, battered figure. She lowered her rapier.

After a long mont of hesitation,

she chose not to deliver the final blow. Instead, she turned and walked toward the crimson pillar of light.

Blood pooled around Freydia’s knees, staining the ground red.

Her eyes gradually lost focus as she stared blankly at the charred earth, her consciousness drifting away......

“Hey, Captain! Co check this out! That bastard was hiding a whole bunch of slaves underground!”

CRASH!

The door to the pitch-black underground cell was roughly kicked open.

Freydia, who had been as motionless as a statue, finally stirred. She lifted her head—the faint light filtering through the opening was the only thing that could elicit a reaction from her.

She didn’t care who had co down, or what they wanted.

Nothing in this world mattered to her anymore.

“Whoa, these are all top-quality goods! That idiot noble was so thoughtful—even in death, he’s still doing us a favor. Too bad he refused to cooperate with us. Tsk, should’ve tortured him a little longer before killing him.”

“Captain, should we take all of them back with us?”

“Captain?”

It was the first ti Freydia had seen this man. He looked like an elf, with the sa purple hair as hers.

He stood in front of her cell, staring down at her with an unreadable expression.

“Captain?”

Hunos called out a few more tis, but Arudok didn’t respond.

“Captain, what are you doing?”

He leaned in to look—and saw Arudok standing in front of a cell, staring at sothing inside.

Curious, he peered into the cell, and his eyes landed on the purple-haired girl locked inside.

“What’s so special about this kid?”

“......”

Arudok didn’t answer. He just stood there quietly, staring at Freydia in the cell. Two pairs of eyes—one large, one small—locked onto each other in silence.

“Aren’t you afraid?”

“Afraid?”

Freydia asked, her voice empty of any emotion.

“Ha!”

Hunos burst out laughing.

“You’re an idiot, kid! That noble was a lunatic obsessed with forbidden experints! Soone like you...... Huh?”

Hunos suddenly noticed the countless scars crisscrossing Freydia’s exposed snow-white arms.

“Whoa, no way. How many of that madman’s experints did you survive?”

Even as Hunos rambled on, Freydia—who had shut herself off from the world—didn’t process a single word he said. She had no use for his aningless chatter.

The only thing she reacted to was the man in front of her.

Yes—the man who was blocking her only luxury in this world—the light.

If she could, she wished he would move out of the way.

“Do you want to get out?”

Arudok suddenly spoke up.

“......”

Freydia stared at him silently, her eyes completely devoid of any spark.

“Heh.”

Arudok suddenly smiled, holding out his right hand toward her.

“If you do—take my hand.”

On that day,

Freydia saw another kind of light in the world.
