At the end of her speech, a bitter laughter involuntarily broke from her throat, tinged with coldness.

Xu Yisen was truly an incompetent husband. Though married to Munni for three years in the past, he knew nothing about her.

Thus, when he heard Munni’s lancholic yet straightforward account of her mother, a pang of sympathy for her washed over his heart.

"Munni, although I don’t know why your mother left you back then, I imagine it must have been the biggest mistake she made in her life."

Letting you go was the biggest mistake I made in my life, so I believe your mother, like , is deeply regretful for letting soone as remarkable as you leave.

The last sentence, Xu Yisen did not say aloud.

He cast a quick sidelong glance at Munni, who was sitting beside him, her lips twisting bitterly upon hearing his words.

"Before she and father divorced, there was once when she was drunk and cried to , saying that when she married him, father was not yet successful, and back then she didn’t want to marry him. If it weren’t for accidentally having , she wouldn’t have been forced by the family to marry him."

At that ti, she glared at and said she hated , that if it weren’t for , she wouldn’t have married father and wouldn’t have ended up in this situation."

The scene of her mother drunk and the words she said are vividly imprinted.

When she was young, she consoled herself that her mother was rely under too much pressure from life.

But as she grew up and beca sensible, she realized those were her mother’s sincere words suppressed for long.

Her mother was obsessed with material life, far surpassing the love for her and her father.

The sadness seeped through her throat, gradually affecting Xu Yisen, who unconsciously reached out his right hand to grasp Munni’s left hand resting on her leg.

His hand was warm like the sunshine of March, carrying a comforting strength.

Munni slowly lowered her eyes to stare at their hands, her throat feeling slightly sore.

Once, she yearned deeply for this hand to hold hers, to support her in tis of sadness.

Yet she never thought that after their divorce, those things, which were once luxurious dreams, were now effortlessly within reach.

"Munni, I don’t know whether those words she said were heartfelt, but I sincerely appreciate your presence."

His voice was as light as a whisper, filled with persuasive sincerity.

Munni still kept her gaze down, staring at his hand holding hers, understanding clearly that Xu Yisen was comforting and encouraging her.

A mont later, she slowly parted her lips and said, "Thank you."

As her words fell, she discreetly withdrew her hand from his grasp, then slightly turned to lower the car window with her right hand.

Fine snowflakes accompanied by cold wind brushed against her cheeks, gradually awakening her nearly uncontrollable thoughts.

Xu Yisen glanced over at Munni, who was leaning against the car window feeling the wind, and gently asked, "Do you need my help with your mother’s issues?"

Munni turned around, giving him a complex look, then quickly turned away, shaking her head, "No need, I don’t want you involved with her issues."

Xu Yisen didn’t reply, silently staring at the road ahead.

Munni faced away from Xu Yisen, quietly said, "Take ho, I’m a bit tired."

"Alright."

The longed-for companionship now finally received, but at the wrong ti; however precious, it was no longer important.

The heart that once beat wildly for Xu Yisen had long grown weary.

She knew Xu Yisen was being nice to her, but she no longer had the courage to accept. Because she feared that after accepting, what awaited her would be an abyss.
