"It wasn’t my cousin who did it, it was you!"
After weighing her options, Bella Ford made the most beneficial choice for herself, pointing angrily at Sienna Johnson.
"You must compensate for my dress!"
"I won’t pay!"
"If you won’t pay, then don’t think about leaving here today!"
Sienna Johnson didn’t take Bella Ford seriously at all. "Really? Well then, I look forward to seeing whether or not you can actually keep here!"
"Cousin, look at her, she is so arrogant! So outrageous!" Bella Ford complained to lanie Carpenter.
"Sienna Johnson, get out of my house now, you’re not welco here!"
"But I was invited here. Is this how the Carpenter family treats its guests? Kicking them out just like that?"
"I never invited you!"
"Right, it was Mr. Carpenter who invited ! Hence, you have no right to ask to leave!"
"Everyone, I need to clear up one thing! Miss Carpenter’s son is not Sixth Master’s! Please don’t misunderstand! If this lie is repeated a hundred tis, it will turn into the truth. I really fear that this shaless lie will continue to spread, and our Sixth Master will suddenly gain an illegitimate son! As for who the child’s father is..." Sienna Johnson looked towards lanie Carpenter, "It’s better to ask Miss Carpenter..."
"Devin Desmond is Sixth Brother’s!" lanie Carpenter insisted.
Sienna Johnson walked over, slapped lanie Carpenter’s face, and scolded, "lanie Carpenter, have you no sha? Accusing my husband of fathering any Tom, Dick, or Harry’s child? You’re so despicable, producing a child that even its own father doesn’t want!"
"Sienna Johnson!"
"I’m warning you! The next ti you dare say that unwanted son of yours is my husband’s, I will smack you! Every ti you say it, I will slap you! Until you finally grasp the lesson!"
The commotion here attracted quite a crowd. Everyone watched the drama unfold, but no one stepped up to intervene.
"Sorry for causing a scene. When soone shalessly tries to foist an unwanted child onto my husband, I have to take her down a notch. Otherwise, she might feign amnesia and start talking nonsense again!"
"You dare hit ? Sienna Johnson! I will kill you!" lanie Carpenter was utterly infuriated by Sienna Johnson and charged towards her.
"Madam!" Rosie Cooper shielded Sienna Johnson. Before lanie Carpenter could lunge at her, Sienna Johnson reached out and pulled a handful of hair from lanie Carpenter’s head.
Feeling a sharp pain on her scalp, lanie Carpenter, in a fit of rage, charged at Sienna Johnson. Sienna Johnson dodged smoothly, slipping behind Rosie Cooper. Rosie Cooper blocked Sienna Johnson, getting her face scratched by lanie Carpenter in the process. The bloody scratches were clearly evident, but Rosie Cooper just stood there, not retaliating.
"Sienna Johnson, if you have guts, stop hiding!"
Sienna Johnson chuckled. "I don’t have guts!"
Having achieved her purpose, Sienna Johnson wasn’t interested in chatting with them any longer. "Everyone, I’ll take my leave first. You’re all welco to co and seduce my man!"
A stunned silence followed.
"The position of Mrs. Desmond is always open to those with ability, strategy, and ambition."
With a handful of lanie Carpenter’s hair gripped tightly in her hand, Sienna Johnson left.
Blinded by rage, lanie Carpenter completely overlooked the fact that Sienna Johnson had "collected" a few strands of her hair.
I wonder if Adrian Desmond managed to get Elliot Carpenter’s hair.
While Sienna Johnson was busy driving lanie Carpenter crazy, Adrian Desmond was accompanying Elliot Carpenter in a ga of Go.
"ACHOO! ACHOO..." Adrian Desmond sneezed a few tis; his nose had been itching.
"Caught a cold?"
"No."
Adrian Desmond rubbed his nose, and after a while, he stopped sneezing.
Adrian Desmond’s uncle had taught him Go when he was a child. He had been quite restless back then, so his uncle taught him the ga to cultivate patience.
"Your Go skills have improved a lot," Elliot Carpenter said, placing a stone.
"Sienna is very good at Go. We occasionally play together," Adrian Desmond responded.
"She plays Go as well?" Elliot Carpenter looked up at Adrian Desmond and asked.
"She’s excellent."
Her mory is exceptional. Painting, piano, dance, Go... she excels at them all. She knew so much, yet all Adrian Desmond could feel was a pang in his heart for her. In those mories he couldn’t touch, a little girl had desperately learned one thing after another, all to win her mother’s affection. That version of Sienna Johnson made Adrian Desmond’s heart ache.
"Feelings can’t be forced. I’ve co to terms with it..."
Adrian Desmond was about to place a stone. Hearing his uncle’s open-minded statent, he paused to look at Elliot Carpenter.
"Uncle, you’re not angry with anymore?"
Elliot Carpenter patted his shoulder and smiled. "I consider you my own son. What father stays angry with his son for long? And don’t bla your uncle for hitting you... lanie is my only daughter, and look at the state she’s in..."
He sighed as he spoke. "Even though you two weren’t ant to be husband and wife, she’s still my only daughter and your cousin. You need to love her just as you love Paige, understand?"
"Uncle, it’s not that I don’t want to agree to your request, but you know how lanie feels about . I really don’t dare to be good to her; I’m afraid she’ll misunderstand. Uncle, lanie will find her own happiness, but the man who can give her that happiness is definitely not !"
"I understand. Consider what I just said unsaid," Elliot Carpenter replied, sounding reasonable.
The ga of Go concluded. Adrian Desmond had won, and Elliot Carpenter had lost. Adrian Desmond hadn’t intentionally let him win.
"Do you want to play another round?" Adrian Desmond asked.
Elliot Carpenter waved his hand. "I’m old, too old..."
A servant removed the Go board. Adrian Desmond, concerned about Sienna Johnson, said to Elliot Carpenter, "Uncle, you’re the birthday host today. Aren’t you going out to greet your guests?"
"Those people outside are all strangers to . The ones I was close to back then are either dead or injured... they’re all gone..." Elliot Carpenter said, his voice tinged with sorrow. He paused for a mont before continuing, "I don’t even know if I’ll live to see my next birthday."
Adrian Desmond said, "Uncle, you’ll definitely live to a ripe old age."
"Enough of that. I called you here today because I want to discuss business."
"Uncle, if you’re short on funds, you can tell ," Adrian Desmond offered generously.
"...Adrian, I’ve been thinking. I still believe the drug trade is the most profitable business, so I plan to return to my old ways. I’ve set my sights on the Orienta market. Isn’t your woman from Orienta? And she owns a pharmaceutical factory, doesn’t she? I plan to use your woman’s pharmaceutical factory to sell my drugs to that country with its billion-plus population..."
Adrian Desmond was stunned. He hadn’t expected his uncle to want to return to that illicit trade. For a mont, he was at a loss for words.
Elliot Carpenter said, displeased, "What, can’t you even make a decision on this?"
